LOM: Loss
About this creation

As Filberth hurried away toward the place in the north where Darden was last seen, he recalled the events of the previous month. The day in which he understood his friend more than ever. The day on which he had learned of Halbert's family. The day was so long ago, yet he remembered it do vividly.

It was early afternoon.

For days, Halbert had gone off at that time to an unknown place, telling no one of his actions there. Filberth could no longer trust him. And so he decided to follow Halbert.

Halbert walked through the forest slowly. Filberth was glad for this slow pace; it allowed him to hide and follow with minimal noise.

Finally, Halbert arrived at a pond.

Filberth sat behind him, waiting.

There was a long silence. Finally, Filberth began to apologize. But before he could begin to speak, he was cut off by Halbert.

"I will never know my father. The stories I have been told were lies!"
Filberth was shocked. Halbert had never discussed his family with anyone, much less voluntarily.

"In the past I have rarely questioned the fate of my father. I knew he was alive, but in hiding in Falmor. I had no reason to doubt it. The men I had spoken to convinced me that he lived in fear of being attacked by a certain band of outlaws, which he had angered somehow.

"I should have known they were lies. My father would never hide. He never feared. Why fear those who you are mightier than?

"You see this place. My father was murdered here.

"I have now learned that it happened at about this time, a few days before I was born. It was as he sat by the water that he was attacked. The outlaws snuck up on him."

Halbert's voice rose with anger.

"He didn't provoke them in any way! But that did not stop the monsters. And at that moment... he would live no more."

He paused.

"If only he had hidden, as I had thought... Then I might have a father."

Halbert wiped the tears from his eyes.

"I have never told you this before. The reason is merely because, until last week, I knew it not myself.

"I have nothing more to say. Tell Darden if you wish. I'd rather he know of my past than to have him think that I have betrayed you."

The two men sat together in silence.

Finally a LOM MOC that I really like. Actually I absolutely love this MOC. Definitely one of my favorites of my vigs.

Credit goes to Justin M for his tree technique.

Quoting Ian ..... How do you make the trees like that?
Use two brick with stud on all sides to attach all of the brown plates. Then use a few (5ish) brown 1x1 cones to attach the same number of brown Lightsaber blades. Finally, attack the leaves at angles using http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=48729 . Hope this helps!

Loving the trees and water! Awesome story as well. I'm envious that you have enough parts to build custom trees... I barely have any brown pieces!

Quoting Caleb R. Some day I hope to see you change your character's pants. That weird half-belt looks so odd. Aside from that, great work! The texturing is what inspired my most recent MOC :)
Thanks Caleb! (the half-belt you speak of is actually a half-gun holster, I believe...) I probably will change it soon, since I realized that his torso already has a belt :P

Quoting Ian Spacek Something about your choice of color for the water is what really intrigued me about this MOC. I can't quite figure out why that's the case, perhaps it's how the medium blue plays against the darker colors in the rest of the MOC, but something here is quite striking! A nifty little vignette.
Thanks Ian! I really enjoyed playing around with color combos for this build, glad you liked it!

Quoting Kai Bernstein Very nice design. I really like the color scheme of the ground and how it mixes with the water; it has this lovely fresh, natural look/feel about it. I like that the story is fleshing out a bit, too, though some longer episodes would be nice. :P
Thanks Kai! I'll probably have some longer episodes eventually (this and the last were meant to be combined, but I decided to go for the two extra points route :P)

Quoting David . Excellent water! The two trees are nice and textured, (I'm using one in a moc I've been working on since the 18th last month) but that third tree... 0.o
I think it's just the angle that makes the third tree look weird, it looks fine in real life... Thanks!

Quoting Benhamin Eukatah Alright good build... But where are the crossovers? I sort of need to be in the group if I can. ?@
There's a topic somewhere in the group for planning crossovers with people. I don't have time currently (plus one of my characters is in Carthal and the other is searching for his missing brother so they're both a bit occupied at the moment...) unfortunately though.
  December 14, 2013
But also, I need some other help with my character's back story...

Yeah, mainly just in terms of family though. Most of his story is going to revolve around his family...
