Osia, the two Orcs and I fled, tearing through the streets even as Nerogueian soldiers were hot on our heels.
Eventually we had to stop. I was wearing light travelling clothes, but Osia and one of the Orcs were in full battle armour. It can't have been easy to run in that. "We'll never escape them like this." Osia panted. "I agree. Perhaps we should split up?" I suggested. Osia nodded at me. "Aye. Meet at the docks, by the ship, when you've lost them." He said.
The others all ran off, but I decided to wait a moment, maybe buy them some time.
Of course, before I had a chance to flee myself, three Nerogueian troops turned up. "Would you believe me if I told you I wasn't with them?" I said, knowing it wouldn't work. "Didn't think so." I raised my swords.
One of them attacked and I crossed my blades to block the strike. I would've been killed had I not suddenly found my rear guarded by an old, wizened Dwarf. "That's it, leave the old Dwarf two of them!" He grumbled, raising his own sword.
I struck down my assailant and turned to see that the Dwarf had already done away with one of his, and had jumped onto the second and was punching him in the face.
The man threw the Dwarf off, but he was too shaken to take on both of us, so he turned and fled. We didn't give chase.
I helped the Dwarf up. "Who are you, friend?" I asked. "My name is Fayku. I may look old, but my beard is as hot and my blade as sharp as ever." He said. "I've been follwing ya' for a while now, but I figured ya wouldn't ha' beaten these bastards-" He spat onto one of the bodies. "-wi'out me." I laughed. "I suppose you're right. Tell me, are you looking for a quest? Because I'm about to go onto open sea with a bunch of people I don't know if I can entirely trust, It'd be nice to have someone watch my back?" I asked him. The Dwarf laughed gruffly and nodded, though I couldn't see it behind the beard. "Aye boyo, I could do w'a bit of an adventure!"
And with that the two of us walked on.
When we reached the docks, Osia was already there. "Ah, you made it then? And who's this?" He said. I quickly recounted the events of the past few hours, and Osia listened carefully. "Aye, okay. Come aboard."
I followed the captain as he walked down a short wooden gangplank onto a bright warship.
Once we were all on the deck, Osia turned to Fayku and I and said. "Welcome to the Calm Before The Storm!"
I looked out from the deck of my new home at the city. It was a mixture of blocky grey buildings, with a golden, brighter building at the back. "That's the Governors palace." Osia told me. "Can we raid it?" Fayku asked eagerly. "No laddy, not yet. Maybe one day, it depends how their alliance with Mythron fares."
And then I looked back at the vessel. The Calm Before The Storm was a huge warship, bigger than any others docked in the port, with great golden sails.
Osia began barking orders and we sailed off, out to open sea.
So there we go! My second freebuild. I'm really happy with this one, all the environments, especially the mini-scaled city. I only have three more Freebuilds this month, but next up I'll probably do my Winter Is Coming challenge...
Nice ship designs! For the minifig scenes, you need to add detail around them- either the front of buildings, or if not that, then some assorted barrels and crates. Same thing for the city- add smaller houses between the warehouses, and add streets if this is a city. Third thing- apparently MOCpages decided to get grouchy when you uploaded your pictures, so the order of the story is all messed up. If you copy-paste all the text in the "edit creation" box into a word document, you can rearrange it there into the right order. Don't take this personally- your fig combos are great, and you photography is better than average, I'm just trying to help you improve :)
