Many people I know grew up alongside a certain video game character, whether it be Link, Mario, Megaman or Cloud Strife. Metroid has been my all time favorite video game franchise and with that, I give you my bionicle interpretation of the greatest bounty hunter who ever lived: Samus Aran! This was a lot of fun to build and I am quite satisfied with it. For the most part, this is based off her Metroid Other M incarnation.
About this creation
Name: Samus Aran
Time spent building: appx. three hours over three days
Points of articulation: 12
Notable features: Firing arm cannon!
Keywords: Samus Aran Power Suit Chozo Metroid Prime Bionicle
As stated above, the figure can fire its arm cannon by pressing down on the arm cannon. I had a green missile at one point but I lost it somewhere in my bionicle box :'(
I noticed that many people were having trouble creating a head for their models. I was originally going to use Toa Vakama's mask, but it just wasn't doing it for me and I set off to create my own. Needless to say, despite the overall simplicity of it, I'm quite satisfied. I managed to incorporate a visor and tubes without the use of decals (I should mention that no parts were harmed in the creation of this MOC :)
Back of the model. I'm still having trouble creating an accurate jet/speed booster pack, so I just slapped some Toa Mata feet and a Matoran arm on the back and called it a day. I know I got a little lazy with the legs, but I couldn't find very many suitable pieces.
This is merely to show off how balanced she is and her somewhat disproportionate legs :/
Dealing a "lethal strike." Speaking of Other M, I actually enjoyed the heck out of that game! People thought the cutscenes were awkward and droned on and on (coughcoughmetalgearsolid) and the awkward First Person Mode (MGS is also one of my favorite franchises).
A close up of her arm cannon (that actually fires!). Sorry about the visually atrophied upper arm. I couldn't find any other red pieces that had the same length.
Side view-left. I realize she looks a little chunky. Don't know how I can fix that. But something else that should be noted is that she has an actual hand :D
A close up of her back. I tried to smooth it out as much as possible (except for the crummy speed booster)
Thanks for viewing and I hope you like it. If you have any suggestions, please comment below. If enough people request building instructions, I can post 'em if I have the time. Take care!
