Venator W.I.P 1
Hi everybody! It's been a while since I've uploaded something and the reason for that is in this first progressreport right here. As the most of you know by now I've always wanted to build a large scale Stardestroyer and this time I went all out to accomplish that mission. There are different reasons why I chose to build a Venator class type Stardestoyer, but the main reason is still that I fancied the one build by Varszegi, it completely changed the way I look at Lego. When Iomedes created it's twin brother a while ago, I took the decision to get started with my own replica of it. You can see he result of long hard work during the past few months below. Feel free to leave a comment. Have fun, P
About this creation

First I started with a wooden board for extra support where the technic frame is connected to. Then I continued the technicframe and the rear section of the ship. (I know that some pictures are of low quality. Some were taken with my s*** cellphone ;) )

When the top rear section was finished, I added some details an started with the base of the main building.

A close-up of the details

The base of the main building takes shape

The front section of the main building is taking shape as well.

Some details and start of the top hangarbay doors

A shot of the tecnicframe

A close-up of the lower bridge and full sideview with main building almost finished and top hangerbay doors halfway.

Installment of the two top bridges. I'm very proud of these. It's a mix of details from Varzegi's and Iomedes' version

Top building finally complete! It took a while to get all the parts, but I'm very happy now that it is finished.

While waiting on some more parts to finish the technicframe, I began on some of the enginetips and the 8 guns that go on the top hull. A very big thanks to Rich Maes to help me figuring out the engines! They really are awesome an I can't wait to get these on the ship.

Some pictures of today... The middle section of the ship is over 80% finished and I'm gonna get started on the bottom and top hulls so I can determine the wedgeshape with technicbricks and finish the supportarms that will hold all of this together.

Thx for the comment! I thought it would be clear that this was a replica build, as for Iomedes and Erik Varszegi: I gave them both credit, it's mentioned here and on my facebookpage...
Quoting Krištof Pučejdl Well, everyone can do nothing else but admire your work! Must be so hard and time consuming even to manage such a huge amount of lego pieces. Let me just ask, why dont you mention you are actually building replica? Since you are using most of the details created either by Sylvian or Erik, would be nice to mention it and give them some credits. Dont get me bad, Your work is still something fantastic and I cant wait to see this finished :)

Well for now, it was actually quite easy, but I'm a bit stuck right now... The triangular shape has the right angle but it needs to sit a bit lower on the frame, so I have to take some bits apart again and start over. Still I'm pretty confident that one day I get to finish this thing ;) Thx for the support i really apreciate it!
Quoting Connor Lucero Great work! I've already seen your WIP 2 and both of these are amazing. You're building this Venator from the little details to the strong frame, and doing it as it appears quite easily. Keep it up! And I can't wait to see the finished product!

I was thinking about building the interior of the top hangar , but the reasons why haven't are: It might weaken the structure a bit, it will cost lot of bricks and money (it's already a moneypit without the top hangar!) and the fact that it won't be visible make it a bit silly to build it. Maybe I will add improvements when it's finished, just like you do on yours. I know that Iomedes is building a much larger one. I'll already be pleased when mine gets finished ;)
Quoting Dirk F. Hello Pieter This is a Mission (Im)Possible ;)) The Venators from Varszegi and Iomedes are amazing Works. Iomedes at the moment is building a much bigger Venator will get over 5 meters long. But i asked me, why don't you build the Hangar on the upper Deck. The Venator of "KurtMOC" have it, and it's in a smaller Scale!? But ok, it's an amazing Project, to build this Venator and you make it very good. Please make many Pictures to show us, how you build this huge Venator. Dirk

Thx very much! I build everything from pictures of the Venators of Varszegi and Iomedes. I used TIE fighter hatches on my turrets since the vaultdoor radar parts are hard to find over here.
Quoting Zylo . Crazy amount of detail, I especially like the design for the turrets. Can't wait to see this thing later in the building process.
