MOX Prize contest entry
About this creation
Space superiority fighter for 1st MOX Prize contest group. The design of the ship was heavily influenced by bees. these ships attack in swarms, and are highly maneuverable due to retro thrusters (yellow studs w/ holes) on the solar collector panels (translucent blue cockpit windows hanging off the side) that aesthetically resemble insect wings. The panels can be maneuvered to collect energy from the radiation of nearby stars, which is used to power the craft. Additionally, Bee-on is meant to be a play on "peon", so these fighters are a sort of space hive drone defense ship. Maybe the honeycomb/hive is suspended in space, or something, and the honeycomb tubes are where these fighters are launched from.

The Bee-on fighter is armed with two "stinger" particle and laser cannons ( can switch ammo types on the fly), and a pair of venom sac missile launchers with variable warhead load-outs that are equipped in the hive. These load-outs range from EMP, to solid shrapnel, to nuclear C4. The missile's black coloring allows it to absorb most lightwaves, and the bee-like race has unique saliva that acts as a cloaking film, masking the missile from all scanners, so they're invisible to enemy ships. The same saliva coats the surfaces of their hive colonies.

Oh my gosh, I could make a whole new faction to duke it out with classic space!!!!!1!!1!!! :0

UPDATES!! just so you guys know, I added a control console in the cockpit, and modeled the mouth of the honeycomb launch tube. I'm also thinking of making more different ships for the Bee-on faction.

I always love organic-like ships :D And I know how hard is it to make something sleek in so limited size :D You can see I didnt managed to fulfill that size :D I like sides of cockpit with segmented structure, it boost its arthropode-like style. Also, pick of wasp color scheme is a guaranteed elegance:D

Cool little build, Kaj. I like your use of the windscreens. Gives it a decidedly alien look. Good luck in the contest.
