2013 BrickBattle Games: Round 2 - Graham Gidman vs. James Bond

About this creation

My entry to Round 2 of the 2013 BrickBattle Games.

My incredible opponent James Bond, and his entry.

I was very excited when I saw what my category was; this is something that I've been wanting to do for awhile, so it worked out perfectly. I knew because of my lack of castle bricks I had to do something from Forestmen theme, and when I saw this set, 6066 Camouflaged Outpost, I knew that's the one I wanted to do. Overall, I think it turned out pretty well.

A raven. One of my favorite parts of the build, actually.

A pathway, with rocks and grass.

I couldn't believe how great the rockwork turned out, considering how few rock bricks I have.

The entrance to the cave. Very happy with the outcome of it.

Inside the cave, it has food, weapons, a torch, and a ladder to the lookout above.

The lookout. I chose not to SNOT the wood part of it, to give a rougher feel.

The minifigures.

A reference photo of the original set.

Thanks for viewing! Best of luck to you, James!

-Graham

The rocks are very well done. The angled rock doorway just makes it look even more natural.

This was the toughest entry entry for me to judge this round. While your opponent's build was larger and had some nice details, the way you fit so much onto a small base, your excellent minifigs, and absolutely awesome rockwork won you my vote. Great job!

I'm very sorry but my vote goes to your opponent. I did really love this build. The hidden door almost won me over, but it just wasn't quite enough. For me to cast my vote to you sorry. Good luck with the rest of the judges.

Pretty nie rockwork. This should be a tough decision for the judges, I think you should have been much more accurate to the original though.
