About this creation
This is my entry for fifth round of the 2013 MOC Olympics!
Here's my opponent matt rowntRee's wonderful entry!

The Category!
Uplifting Reboot: The opposite of the gritty reboot. Take an already gritty movie, and remake a scene as if it's a children's film. Imagine Sin City meets My Little Pony... (yeah, let your mind wrap around that one for a while).

This stumped me for the longest time. Gritty movies definitely are not my strong point, but I settled on one that I had seen quite some time ago, Saving Private Ryan. For those of you unfamiliar with the movie, (which may be few) it takes place during World War II. A small company of eight men are sent out to retrieve Private Ryan and return him alive and safe back home to his mother who had just received three telegrams that his brothers had all lost their lives in battle.

I leaned on the looking for Ryan quite heavily, and one thing that game to mind was Blue's Clues. As a child that had been one of my favorite shows, which also incorporates a looking for or trying to figure out things kind of mood. (at least from what I can remember, it's been quite sometime since I've seen an episode the show) Hopefully that makes sense.

Now of to the uplifting reboot!

Young Steve, Ryan, and Milley are off to the park to play some ball.

After some time they decide to run off home. Before they leave, they realize that something is missing. Young Ryan has run off, and they know they can't leave without him.

Steve takes out his handy dandy note book, and Milley takes out her trusty magnifying glass. Their cat, Fluffy, shows up to help them find what they are missing!

First they check the water fountain, just incase he was thirsty.

Next they follow Fluffy over the rock, a popular hiding spot when playing hide-and-go-seek.

Finally, they go back to where they were playing ball to see if he went back, when suddenly they hear something.

It's the sound of young Ryan sleeping on the park bench.

It seems that he decided to take a little catnap on the park bench with his little teddy bear.

Finally they are able to all return home, young Ryan included.

upon opening the door their parents wonder what took them so long, and they tell the story of their afternoon, with a few added details, as little kids do. Their mother has dinner ready and they spend the rest of the night playing inside safely.

Except for young Ryan that is, who happens to fall fast asleep on the big red thinking chair for the rest of the evening.

I hope everyone enjoys, and the coronations are clear. Thank you for stoping by. Comments are always appreciated. Also, good luck to my very skilled opponent matt rowntRee! if you haven't check his entry out, make sure you do.

Tough luck on not advancing Eric, but a great showing in the contest overall. As a bit of a fan of story builds I really liked your sweet tale and I agree with Nick's comment below, that chair looks really comfy!

While I prefer your overarching "idea," I think your opponent just managed to nudge ya out on this one. My vote goes to him, but good luck with your other judges!

A bit short, but I think it fit the category well enough!

Nice one! The scene and the room at the end are well constructed, and a good idea for a really tricky category (well they all were this round...) It would be nice to see a single shot of all the elements of the MOC at the end. Good luck with the judges!

Awesome job Eric! Love your choices for combining, just as expected this category yielded some ridiculousness. Turning SPR into a Blue's Clues episode is genius. A brutally gritty movie given the happy curiosity of a wide eyed child. Love the happy ending when it's time to fall asleep in the comfy chair, like all the good boys and girls. Stellar work and best of luck!
