Windbird Vs Dread
Considering I just finished my Hero Factory reviews for the year, I thought It'd be relevent to post these two; revamps of my two remaining Hero Factory characters; Mary Windbird and the mysterious Dread. A Hero and a villain (well, it's a little more complicated than that, as you shall soon see..)
About this creation
Mary Windbird:

Mary Windbird is a freelance Hero working for Hero Factory. She used to be part of an official Hero team, but she has worked alone since the deaths of her team mates on a mission. Her defining qualities are her speed, agility (which is why she was dubbed "Windbird") and her resourcefullness.

Windbird was one of the many Heroes created along with the introduction of the 2.0 Build. There was a little trouble in assigning her to a team, and she remained 'on the bench' for a while. She was once unofficially assigned as a co-pilot of the "Omnipotent Hero" on an unaurtharised mission to firebomb the planet Gomorrah. The actions of the "Omnipotent Hero" filled her with guilt for the rest of her life.
Windbird was then officially assigned to the Ceta Team, one of the more obscure team of Heroes. They were already equipped with the 3.0 armour, having returned from a minor mission on Quadros. They were sent to the planet Racta Magna, to investigate criminal activity on the planet. They instead encountered the IRM, who slaughtered everyone on the team, excluding Windbird, who helped two Toa, Onika and Korapa, defeat the IRM.
She returned empty handed, alone and mentally scarred, to Makuhero City. Because of the humiliating defeat, Windbird became somewhat famous within the Hero Factory, and was promoted from Rookie status to an official Hero. When the Breakout occurred, Windbird was upgraded into Breakout Armour, but was not assigned a villain. But instead of staying at the Hero Factory like Rocka, she ventured out to aid Heroes with their Villain capture missions. At one point, she did chase a Villain known as the Predator (One of Dread's Gang) all the way to Makuhero City, where she was caught up in the Brain Attack. She was then upgraded and sent to help her fellow Heroes stop the Brains.
Immediately after the Brains were neutralized, she managed to find and arrest Predator. After locking him in Villain Storage, she was updated to her current armour and was sent out to find the remaining Villains which had escaped in the Breakout.

Here she is! I wanted to give her a more original appearence this time, instead of being the Breez clone she always has been. You'll also notice that She has a Brain Attack vizor, a 2.0 Hero Chestplate and a pair of Breakout Hero Cuffs. I didn't want to make this version specific to any particular line; I just wanted to make this one cool :P

Back. The Thornraxx helmet on the back I'm happy with. The hair is meh; kinda last minute stuff. No armouring on the back of the legs.. well, the back of the feet and shins actually look fine on their own, it's just the thighs. I didn't want to armour them so that I could get a good range of motion without the armour hindering that (she is meant to be agile)

A few things that I'd like to point out:

Feet! Don't worry, This isn't part of a fetish, I'm just proud of them because I just built them completely from scratch, without any inspiration from some one else's design.

The torso, without the 2.0 chest piece. It's the same rough design as the Brain Attack Windbird, but just updated to accomadate the 2.0 chest.

Head. I seriously wanted to not use a Breez mask this time, just to give her originality. I did originally come up with a custom face for her, including eyes, but it just looked too goofy and wierd (as do all my custom heads), and so I just allowed her to have a blank face... We'll just have to pretend she has eyes and a mouth. (I did give her fake eyes for the main photo, just because.) I still think it looks pretty cool anyway... (of course, the design heavily relies on the vizor to be there, so therefore the vizor can't move up very far.)

She does have Cuffs, like I said earlier. She's not meant to be a Breakout specific MOC, I just think that she should have a way to bind her villains, Breakout or not.

Weapons. I really wanted to use those translucent green pieces, as I feared I wouldn't be able to use them anywhere else. The weapons are kinda plain, but I just wanted to use the pieces, and find a way to add more translucent green, without changing the design of the legs or chest to accomodate translucent green.

Showing how far she can bend down.

Surveying the city...

Dread:

Little is known about Dread. We don't even know his real name; "Dread" was a name given to him by the Hero Factory. He is the only surviving Gomorran, and he has vowed to destory the Hero Factory, in punishment for what they did to his home and people, and replace it with a better system of justice.

Gomorrah was a planet near the Makuhero belt, which was home to a species of red skinned organic creatures, not dissimilar to humans. Gomorrah was the planet which produced the most criminals recorded by the Hero Factory. One day, Mr. Makuro, in a blind fit of exasperation with the planet and its inhabitants, made a comment about being rid of the planet, in front of a group of particularly bloodthirsty Heroes. These Heroes took it upon themselves to steal a ship, "The Omnipotent Hero," and fly to Gomorrah. One Hero, Mary Windbird, was dragged along and forced to be co-pilot for the trip.
The Omnipotent Hero hovered over the planets atmosphere, and firebombed every part of the planet (The planet was particularly small, and it did take a couple of days to cover the entire planet) The planet burned for two days and two nights, and by that time every Gomorran city was destroyed, and almost every Gomorran was killed. Mr. Makuro was outraged and embarressed, and stripped every Hero involved of their title, excluding Windbird, who was not really in on the plan. Mr. Makuro didn't put these Heroes in Villain Storage; It would have looked bad politically. He instead allowed them to walk free.
Of the entire population of Gomorrah, only one survived the firebombing. He was a young Gomorran, the equivalent of a 20 year old Human. His chest, head, hands and lower legs were severely burned, and so he covered them with the black armour of the Gomorran police force, to protect his sensative skin. He felt angry and heartbroken, and so trained in the art of fighting, alone amongst the ruins of Gomorrah. He left Gomorrah during the Villain Breakout, and used the oppertunity to gather together a gang of Villains to help him on his vendetta against the Hero Factory. He sent them out on various tasks to antagonise the Hero Factory.
The Gomorran took the oppertunity to track down and kill the Heroes which organised the attack on Gomorrah in the first place. When he killed the main ringleader, he sent the head to Mr. Makuro with a death threat attached. He ended the note with:

"Hero Factory will learn to dread me, for I shall be the one to bring it to its knees."

Because of this, he is classified in Hero Factory's data banks as Dread. The Heroes still know very little about him.

Dread's current location is unknown. All that is known is that Dread is planning to kill Windbird, who is the only member of the Omnipotent Hero who is still alive. His gang is still rampaging across the galaxy, all of them are free except the one called "The Predator", who was captured during the Brain Attack.

Here he is! Decided to do something a little more interesting with the story, to have the Villain chasing the Hero, instead of the other way round.

Back. He has better coverage than Windbird, at least.

Torso. It's actually quite simplistic and hollow; It's all centered around the Corroder/Rotor piece on his back, but I'm happy with how it looks. I'm glad I got to use those hose pieces successfully. I really hate those pieces; they're useless!

The head is significant because it's the part I spent the most time trying to figure out; there's a lot of friction, and although nothing is "illegally" connected, (hah, Lego Big Brother is watching you!) a lot of stuff is kinda wedged in there. I wanted to add something to the Black Phantom helmet to make it more special. I really like the mold of the helmet, but it's used a lot, so I tried to make it a little more original. The Braces aren't significant to the backstory, it's just to make it its own thing. There is a custom skull in there, but because the build is actually held together by the mask, I can't take it off and show you.

The shins. The build is nothing too ingenious, they just look nice at most angles.

This guy doesn't have any weapons; he likes to use his fists in combat. Despite this, he's not above using something like a broken pipe to smash people over the head with.

Pretending to be The Incredible Hulk.

Pretending to be Bane, one of the original inspirations of the build. (Hah, believe it or not, because it's not like he looks exactly like Bane or something :P)

Pretending to punch the camera

Pretending to punch Actually punching the camera

Comparisons to some actual sets. As you can see, Windbird is the same height as a regular Brain Attack Hero, and although Dread is taller than Windbird, he's not quite XL hight.

Finishing with a shot of the two of them together.

That's all, folks!

Glad you like, Juan! Yeah, the core is out of place, but I don't think I can do much about it, I'm afraid... Glad you like Dread too! (Heh, all I'd need to do is turn his head the other way and add quaza spikes to the sides and it'd look close enough like Set :P)
