Pentagon Clearance Space Superiority Fighter
Originally designed as an asteroid clearance craft, the Pentagon Clearance Class ship soon found alternative use as military shield smashing fighter. Its rear mounted ion cannon provided great range fire, but up close, clamped by the duel claw arms, most ship's armour didn't stand a chance at its hands.

Quoting Medic Physic I thought the first image was a drawing of a cat dressed as the Pope.
That tricky old negative space.

I am always amazed how you can fit your style in various themes ... You are one of the most talented space constructers and problably the best one in CS designs ... And penatgonal design ... I wished I could one day make such crazy angling with my virtual works ... great job :D

So...we have an MMA starfighter. A ship that is dangerous from a distance and effective in the clinch. Does it prefer to fight with its superior reach or in the ground-and-pound? I could go on for hours, David;) What an excellent ship. I like the unique approach to the short range weaponry, and, of course, that windscreen that marks it immediately as one of your works. Well done, and good luck in the contest.

Put any kind of geometric shape in a build and it gets my attention! This is made even more interesting because you combined it with CS. This is CD too… Classic David! A fun design! :)

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 it looks like a maintenance ship that has defensive capabilities, great!
That was exactly the idea.

Quoting Keith Goldman I knew your entry would be from way out in left field, and you did not let us down. Perfect for the MOXPRIZE contest, this is about as far from a traditional pointy-nose space fighter as you can get. That pentagon shape is inspired and as RowntRee said the fact that it grabs a hold of its enemy while destroying it is cool and insect like. Nice work!
Thanks Kieth. The insect vibe was exactly what I was aiming at. My mind was thinking very much like a video game designer here, what would be a cool type of craft to deploy in a RTS game.

Quoting matt rowntRee Have we just witnessed, from the spark of disgruntled CS spacemen bent on dominating the galaxy, the birth of the famed mustachioed Blacktron? Great design, I love the idea that it's a grappler. Blasting his way in then holding on for submission. Three taps! If your guy had a fro-mullet, he'd be the spitting image of "Ravishing" Rick Rude. Awesome! Oh, yeah!!!
It's strange but I always took it as lore that Blacktron was a splinter faction CS team. You could be right with your interpretation. Makes me rethink about revisiting some of my CS narrative pieces: http://www.mocpages.com/folder.php/148886.

Quoting Nick Barrett A unique take on the SSF idea, and handsome with it. Good luck in the contest!
I liked the idea of subverting the CS ethos of exploration and peaceful asset striping to the military theme. You can tell that CS figure has turned military, just check out that moustache.

Quoting David Roberts It's a bit hard to see the shape against the white background in the first photo but I imagine the pentagon shape acting like the metal bumper around a dodgem car. It would fend off enemy ships and shots. The weapon underneath looks very retro, with its stack red saucers. The pentagon looks very strong and swooshable, being made from those click hinges. Yet another fun CS build!
Sort of like a cross section of a Dalek transformed into a spaceship.
