About this creation
======================================================================

======================================================================

My name is Henry.
Master Sergeant Henry Rake, Imperial Elite Interstellar Infantry.

If you are hearing this, if there's anyone left out there, then ...I'd ...I'd like this recording to serve as my Last Will and Testament...

*the muffled sound of what might be choked weeping, off-mic*

...I know... I know that it's not much but - I needed to tell somebody, I mean - SOMEone
...needs to know what they did.

What they did to ME.
I know it's cliche~, but it was all so...innocent, at first.
-I mean, you can't swing a dead cat without knocking twelve Covert Ops Projects off the shelf, around any Core System installation. -Secrets, right?*sniff* Imperial Military lifeblood. Who cares?

I sure as heck didn't. Who gives a flip what all those Science Pukes get up to in their free time?... long as they stay out of my way and I get Paid, they can geek up whatever idiot whim their oversized craniums can conceive.

Ffffffffffft.-Squiddies and their pet Projects - you could wallpaper Homeworld with all the copies of discarded Ops they've egged up and tossed out, over the years, right?*snff*
What did one more Rumor amount to, on the pile, right?

I never dreamed that it, that ANY of it, would EVER matter to me.

That's the thing about Dreams, though, ain't it?: how fast they can turn to Nightmares?
Look, I'll... I'll just let the Log speak for itself - hang on; this is, I think this is the one, I mean. Sorry. It's not exactly like I planned any of this, right?- Don't expect stellar Production Value, here.

I just can't *sniff* can't think of any other way to say all this. I'm just a Soldier.

Just a Soldier...
It's all I've ever been any damn good at.
And then...

...wait, just *snfft* wait. I'm jumping ahead again. Rushing. Always in such a bloody *snf* hurry, 'Rake.

And look what it's done to you.

Wait, this is the file. Computer: Replay selected.

Dr. Guillionne: "So, basically, it's an upgrade to the combat tactical harness Exo design in every way."
Mstr. Sgt. H.Rake: "Right, Doc, but what's the catch? If there wasn't some kind of Fine Print, grunts'd be lining up from here to the Hangar Deck to sign right up. So why don't you stop wasting BOTH our time, and get to it, ok?"
*sound of something tapping a glass surface steadily, and then a patient inhale preceding the initial voice speaking again*
Guillionne: "Careful, Sergeant. Technically, I outrank you, here. So let's keep the dialogue nice and respectful, shall we? Yes? Good.
-Now. As I was saying, it's a universal upgrade - but it's bleeding-edge, untested, strictly Classified. The rewards are proportional to the risks. ...Even discussing it here requires an NDA signed in triplicate prior to departure, even if you opt out.

Opt IN, however, and... well, ...Summary Pay Grade increase, Immediate Clearance and Rank promotion... to say nothing of the raw physical power, speed, and agility gained - as well as utterly unique ordnance it carries..."

Rake: "Theoretically."
Guillionne: "...Yes. Theoretically."
*a lengthy pause, punctuated by the soft background whirring of machinery and the velvety hiss of white noise pouring into the tense silence*
Rake: "..."
*the sound of a dry rasp as pale lips are skinned back from some very white teeth*
Guillionne: "...There are, of course, a number of Forms to complete. Or, if you are eager to ...advance, Universal Consent is but one RetScan away?... scouring all that Fine Print avoided in a ...'Blink' ."*the recording practically paints the Doctor's lamprey smile upon the open air...*
A dare? -from a grown man. This was clearly the opportunity of a lifetime for this Pencil-neck. He held all the power, and he was relishing every minute of it.

He was baiting me - to see if I'd let my mouth outrun my brain.

And you know what, baby?- the man had my number. I admit it.
We both know I've never been much in the brains department. Always counted on ...well, other gifts... to get me through. If I have to explain it, I don't truly contain it, right?

Yeah, so I've got anger issues. And Authority issues. And, well... Issue Issues.
I'm a mess. But I'm a Decorated mess.
And I'm your mess. We both know I'm rhino-ugly, a lousy housekeeper, and I got about as much tact as a sledgehammer. God only knows what you see in me.

But you know I love you, babe. Please. Please remember that. No matter what I s-know what? -nevermind. I'll shut up. The File. You need to hear the File.

Of course I took the bait.
Of course I never read the Waiver.
You know me.
I gritted my teeth in that Puke's face and let him 'Scan me.

I knew that snake had fangs. But I...
...I underestimated his bite, baby. His poison, too.

Too cocky, too dumb by a mile, and too sure I'd be strong enough to wash whatever this geek could do to me.

...I was WRONG, Baby.

I was so wrong.

S.I.R.E.: Entry: 91d, Galactic Central 07:41:14 hrs, June 15th, 302947.
Guillionne: "Well, you've responded favorably to the course of antibiotics, and aside from some normal discoloration around the attachment sites due to low-level dermatitis, all these results are five-by-five.

Forbes, could you get a few extra shots of the cranial moorings there and ...that one, too? Yes? Thanks.

As I was saying; so far, you're responding to the modifications with nominal stressors indicated. In short: we're pleased. ...Please don't pick at that..."

Rake: "Yeah, well, I'm pleased you're pleased. What are ...THESE for? The lower ones - yeah, that set. These hurt like hell. I can feel them all the way to my ribs, man."
Guillionne: "Well, that's encouraging; it means the Nanos have completed their OsteoAnchoring clamps. Tell me, any... 'other' changes? Any, um... behavioral or emotional ...instability?..."
Rake: "Excuse me?..."
Guillionne: "...Have you felt any changes in your day-to-day moods or general demeanor?"
Rake: "Explain to ME, 'Doc', what implanting hardware has to do with ANYTHING about my mental health! Something you want to tell me?! - You said this was SAFE!!! You said this would HELP me!!! SAY something, you schmuck! "
*dry laughing*
Guillionne: "Oh, I said it would help you, Sergeant... I never said it was Safe."
"You believed what you wanted to."

*you could hear the sharklike smile*
"You couldn't see past the power. Or the Paycheck."
"...Exactly as your Profile suggests. It's why we CHOSE you, incidentally-
Forbes, pupilary dilation is at max - "
Lock all his RESTRAINTS."
Sedative feed administered at 07:52:09."
Really, Rake. Stop struggling, we need your blood pressure to remain unelevated."
Your voluntary control will cease in about 8 more seconds; the restraints merely protect us from involuntary muscle contraction.
While we WORK.
Forbes, sanitize the bonesaws and cycle up the cauterization laser."
"Aaaalright, Mr. Rake - try to focus on my voice... I need you to begin counting backwards from one hundred..."
"........................ninety-nine..."
".............................................ninety-eight..."

Paralyzed me. Their marvelous new Nanomeds, I guess.
I was awake. Aware.
I just couldn't move.
Their rig passed layer upon layer of plating, tubes, unrecognizable tech...
...they moved in close, and then I could hear them being ...attached.
Never felt anything. Totally numb. Meat.
But what I remember most were those NEEDLES;
the syringe-things were on these arms, but the cylinders were glass, and...
...I could see what was in them.
The black blood.
Black, but... I swear when I looked away, ...it glowed. Black? Purple?...

...what the hell did they inject?

I've never seen anything like it. Yes, Sir; Currently at 23%. I'm confident that our reserves of the original Sample will be enough to carry him to term, yessir.
Sir? - well, nossir - I'm afraid we won't be able to determine that until he's regained consciousness, but for now, the control protocols seem to be firming up among the nanoswarm. Give me a rundown of the Ordnance Inventory again, in Offensive priority; if it's offl010ine, just note it and baseline it for now - with all the fluctuations, we'd best start with what's live and re-prioritize the rest later , alright?"

Forbes: "Of course, Doctor. Initiating:
Monofilamental SolonArc ComBlades?"

Dr. G: "Check.Compression field holding.
The only thing we HAVEN'T seen the11001m cut through is that biza1rre fragment from 100029b . And we both know where they say THAT came from. Doubtful we'd encounter it on an Op."

Forbes: "Agreed. Carb1ide SomniCore Wristcannons?"

Dr. G: "Check. Pinpoint-precise, but limited range. My guess is, once this Tech is deployed in the field, the M.A.K.O. line will tend towards melee, but still. 110101110011001 insisted."

Forbes: "Apparently the concept of 'overkill' is largely lost upon our esteemed 110101110011001. Speaking of which: SomniCore Homing Shuriken?"

Dr. G: "Nominal. We are st1111ill working on telemetrics for that 'boomerang' feature. If they impact solidly, they often dig in too far for fast enough impeller-rotation to saw free.

Not being based on the same monofilament tech as the ArcBlades, they are razored high-tensile steel, but they work too well as projectiles, for the m000oment
- thrown as fast as we suspect he will be able to, our hopes are they'll puncture so completely they'll pass clean through
and the auto-retr01ieve software will kick in - Snap them right back.

IF he's moving SLOW enough for them to catch up, that is..."
*heavy sigh*

" ...Yet another logistics problem to solve.
We simply have no idea how it'll operate until it's been deployed. We will either Adapt the Rake Pr11000otoype, or we'll Revise, presumably.
I'm guessing the latter, personally - he's not precisely a poster child for mental stability.

And as far as physical damage, he's only at Phase II.
God only knows what Phase III wi1ll do to his mental state - what's the Infusion percentage at, again? "

Forbes: "47%, last hour.
Doctor,"
*tense silence* "...It's killing him, isn't it?
-The neuro-negative response induction measurements are ...unprecedented.

That much pain registering, all at once? We are talking about Systemic Cellular excruciation; the Nanos are all that's keeping his heart from simply exploding...

We are playing a symphony of Pain, where all his organs are independent SCREAMS, tuned to whatever tortuous notes the Sample wrenches from him.

This is ...this is WRONG, Guillione. We're Scientists! Did you really sign up for torture? Mutilation? We're Doctors, not Butchers - I mean, has it really come to this? Is this our Empire, that we knew and loved, anymore?...

Dr. G: "Sometimes, Forbes, great SCIENCE requires great SACRIFICE.If you MUST grow ...oh-so-ever EMOTIONAL about the work we're here to DO, then indulge in pride in Rake's giving and selfless act for his EMPIRE."

"Something's coming, Forbes. Or, to be exact, coming BACK, I think. And for the first time, I think all those quacks touting that the 'End Is Near' might be onto something.

We haven't much time.
And I am willing to use ANY weapon at my disposal to cheat the Devil of her due.
INCLUDING using her own against her.

We haven't heard from GCC brass for days, and if we did, it would be the SAME lies we told those poor sheep on S.A.I.(NT-1), when we knew we were coming to ...do what we DID.

My God, man...
All of Human History,
lived out in blissful ignorance...
and then we take just ONE step too far,
out among the stars
to find out that the Angels
(we told ourselves didn't really exist)
have been out here,
fighting over our tiny,
stupid,
meaningless
FATES,
all along.

...A War in Heaven

But they've been fighting too long, Forbes; and they're so VAST, while we're so SMALL. They fell in love with the WAR, and forgot, forever, what they were fighting FOR. They are giants. We are... insects. And we've crawled unwittingly smack into the middle of their great Arena...

...how long do we REALLY think we'll last, man?"

Dr. G: "For the time being, summon some BACKbone. If you can't manage to to show some SPLEEN, then FOCUS ON the WORK. GET ON with the Report, or become part of my NEXT one, are we clear?"
Forbes: "...Crystal."
Dr. G: "GOOD. Get ON with it. ...Now. I believe the Overlay was next?"
Forbes: "...Affirmative. The M.A.K.O. hardware, first, then." *inaudible grumbling trails off*
Dr. G: "That's better. " *the sound of a deep and patient inhaling, then the Doctor's voice continues* "That alloy from the Masamune Vault files recovered from their Archive has blended with the Omnium-graphite compound's lattice from 110101110011001's private set of Patents. Remarkably well, incidentally. Interesting, that.

What it will mean for the Prototype is essentially that his ...frame... will withstand the crushing compression of the proposed limits of that acceleration on human tissues.
Maximum Speed?...
Well... UNKNOWN. But I think 110101110011001 is going to be very, VERY pleased, come time for the Field Test.

Minimal tissue irritation around the bone grafting; promising.
And the other... adjustments, are complete?"

Forbes: "As of Fifteen-hundred hours."
Dr. G: "Excuse me?... that was less than two hours ago! - that kind of tissue regeneration would be-"
Forbes: "-Impossible. Yes. I know. But; see for yourself."

Dr. G: "InCREDible. But that would mean that the Sample itself has also gone... self-replicating?"*tense silence*"...I see. Well, that is ...somewhat distressing. Nonetheless. Continue."

Forbes: "Seven minutes into the procedure, the monitored feed from the Sample trickled to nothing. After a moment of panic, I realized it was due to the sensors detecting the full percentage of tissue saturation. About THIRTEEN HOURS ahead of schedule.
It messes with the equipment so much I can't be sure, but I suspect the true M.A.K.O. percentage is already at 100. Right now. Or very close to it.
logically, that would mean it has been... replicating since primary injection. From trace amounts, to... well, he's honestly far more Sample, than human plasma, now. All incisions bleed black, Sir."

*speechless silence stretches for several long moments*
Dr. G: "THAT,"*a ragged breath*"...may pose something of a problem. Up the Timetable... -Can he be moved to the holding bay safely under this level of sedation? COME ON!- talk and move! REPORT, FORBES! MOVE ON to the Software analytics, and check all clamps on your side! MOVE!"

They BURNED us, baby.

'Shame they ashed, so fast.
- I had PLANS for them...
...such PLANS...

~Tisk, tisk. Ashes, in seconds. Such a waste:

...I'd have made it LAST and LAST.

Dust and soot.

But then again, so was I *wheezing laughter*.
Charcoal. And trillions in covert Imperial Tech.

They'd succeeded, the eggheaded bastards. Toasted me good. Kept the contagion from spreading. As if they even understood what they'd really given 'birth' to...

-But they were too late.
I was already something NEW.

And She wouldn't let me die.
She wouldn't even let me SCREAM. She's not big on Weakness, see. Not her. ...No pain. ...No regretsss
NO! No! No, that's her - messing with my head, pulling strings in my brain. That's what she does, since they poured her into me - getting stronger, breeding, splitting, spreading, like black CANCER...

...I can feel her MURDERING me, Baby. One-cell-at-a-time.

I'm sorry, babe... getting harder to think, now. So hard to focus... like glass needles shifting in my brain, stabbing, weaving, piercing... replacing...
- what was I saying? Oh, yeah... when I woke up. I didn't scream, you see? I couldn't. Even though the Empire I served, that I so remember BELIEVING in...

...AMPUTATED my arms and legs.
It was Tuesday.
It had been so nice in the park that day with you. The sun had been out, and the grass was so green it practically hurt my-WAIT, wait- that was THREE YEARS ago; the day I shipped out. The last time I touched your face... kissed you... held little Carrie...

-NO! That was another life. Another ME. That's all... been TAKEN, now.

MyGodMyGodMyGodMYGODnonoNOIdon'tDESERVEanyGoodMemoriesnownotafterallI'veDONE!

...I screamed until my throat tore, when they installed the Overlay.
I guess that irritated Her.
So when I woke to find they'd butchered me,
I couldn't even WHIMPER. Nothing. Nothing but Her SONG, in my blood; what's left of it. She's... She's everywhere now. I can hear Her... singing to me...

They butchered me, baby. Took my arms. My legs.
But see?- M.A.K.O. was gonna give it all back...
Over, and over, the Doc keep piling it on. Running that mouth...
'Cut through ANYTHING', he said.
'Faster', he said. 'Faster than you can IMAGINE...'. A soldier like the Empire has never seen - the perfect killer. I admit it - I bought in.
I swallowed the hook, alright. Whole.
Oh, they pretended to care - some crap about obligations to WARN me about... 'side effects'.
Jotted their little clip-boards. But all those amounted to were more sophisticated dares.

I do remember one, though:
...Guillione said it'd HURT.

-'Only time that snake EVER told the truth.

I gotta say; they DID make good on their promise for POWER, babe.
Gave me GUNS. Nasty.
Blades. Oh, baby, these blades!...

But there's something else in there, too. In the dark places. That's where she lives, you see now? That's hers. The song never stops now, now that I broke free...

Woke up in their shiny lab on their shiny station, their molten-red metal COFFIN where they tried to CREMATE me, heehee... but no, no...
things are different now, aren't they? Mheeheeyesyes. Walls pinging, cooling, covered in my ash, in the ashes of the two other 'Lab RATSssss... 'yessss. I woke up in their fires, but I didn't BURN, no, not ME: stupid of them to try, after how they forged me - they filled me with her blood, straight from Hell, and then expected me to BURN!?! -SERIOUSLY!?!- Whatta buncha self-deluded pencil-pushin' FOOLS!

She's teaching me new tricks, too, babe - so many wonders to show me. I accessed their MedFile on me (busted their stupid Classified Encryption like it wasn't even THERE!), from the terminal, just outside those blast doors to MedBay... I thought the doors were too thick too strong but nobutnobutno shePROMISEDmyBLADES were strongerandsharperandtheyweretheyweretheyWERE! -So EASY! -what was I saying?...
So hard to think over the song, now - but I saw their File on me. And you know what?
You wanna know just how BLIND your husband's been, all along, babe?

Lemme tell ya. What a FOOL, Rake. *dry chuckling* What a damned FOOL. *tapers off into choking wheezes*

- Know what it turns out "M.A.K.O." stands for, baby?:

'MALGOTHian-Accelerated-Kinetic-Overlay'.

The bastards hid it right in front of me. In plain sight. 'The dangers of skipping the Fine Print, right? HaheehahaAAA!

And right then, I knew what I was.
They took a man with more ambition than common sense,
Chopped him up. Bolted illegal tech all over what was left of him.
Then juiced him with something more powerful than any drug,
more viral than any known contagion...
Wound him up, tortured him, stole his body,
INFECTED him...

I can't even remember what it was like anymore, before, without her in me...
...weak... small... slow... ironic what a good little killer I thought I was, back then...

...But look at me now, babe. LOOK AT ME, NOW.

I stood in that hallway, not even knitted all the way back up, letting the black blood work, and I laughed, until it didn't even sound like me anymore. I think THAT was when Henry really died.
The rest of this is just
Her... my new 'mother', my mistress, my dark marionette, pulling my strings, fully in control...

That terminal said there was a standing Compliment of 2,136 men and women on that base.

I found them ALL.
...There were children here, baby.
I bawled. SCREAMED.
But nothing made any noise. Any di111fference.

It was like being spiked to a chair, chained, being forced to watch, while something wears your body and does... oh my GOD...the most awful things...

But She was fully in control. I was just alo00100ng for the ride. Couldn't bail. Made me watch. And then...

...made me ENJOY it... OH, GODohJESUSplease...

There's so little of me left, now... and she's everywhere...

I haven't *squarkxzzxx* haven't got much TIME, babe.

Have to send this, while I still can.
I LOVED you, honey. I... I LOVE you and Carrie. Always.
Anything left, I leave you...never was good wit10100h money, but Empi110re should take care of you both, if there's any Empire left. Insurance; died in active duty, all that. I want you... I want you to go to my Mom's pla00010ce, on Sol IV. Stay with... stay with her. Carrie'll love the mountains, there. Good... schools. She always loved it there...

I want you00 to be happy, baby.

It's better this way. Maybe it'll never reach you two, all the way out there, so far... you gotta listen to me, Babe - stay in the LIGHT. As long as you can. As long as it lasts.
And if it goes out... remember me.
Like we were.
Like I once was.

I don't want you to see me, and what I've become. I hope we never meet again, in this Life.
You could never forgive me for what I've done; for what I AM, now. ...and if you ever see me, RUN, baby - it won't be ME. I'm never alone anymore. Her SONG is in here with me,
and it NEVER ENDS...

There's no room for anything else.

All I can do is DROWN her out - drown her in an OCEAN of blood, an ocean to replace mine, all they took from me...

I try to choke her on it - but I know now, it's all she lives for, and nothing will ever slake her thirst.

She's looking for something.

Sending me after it.
Some new Weapon?...

I don't know what it is, but I hope She never, ever, finds it. It took a HOST of 'Angels' to beat HerMeUs, once, as SheIWe are, even now.

If She gets ahold of it, She'll take off her blackmirror mask, and SING to us ALL...

She promises.

...and then - Reality itself will splinter, Nothingness will uncoil, and Her Perfect, Infernal Hymn will echo on the Endless Void for eternity...

Beginning 4th Wall Commentary!: (In the interest of saving space, all 4thWC hyperlinks are removed, and descriptions abbreviated! SORRY I finally hit the PAGE SIZE LIMIT wall! =D)
4thWall Commentary: WELCOME BACK, all ye intrepid Guests, to the S.A.I!! Thanks for looking in on this, my most recent addition, and summarily my furthest departure thus far from the Ancients story-arc. =) Above, the customary Metrics basics.
4thW.C.: So!:
-while happily inhabiting this nonchalant little world of my own making, I got to wondering what would happen when all the S.A.I. learned, inevitably fell into the hands of those with... shall we say, less NOBLE
intentions. (Above: A 3/4 effaced shot of the torso and head detail).

It was never really a question:

---they'd blow it. Immensely.
Drunk on dreams of new power, they would be BLIND to the evidence that the very SAME power they were drooling over - Somniferria used to DESTROY ITSELF. Nuts, but inevitable, right?

4thW.C.: I wanted to take a break from the giant Ancients' Story Arc. Thus, Rake was born.
4thW.C.: Blended inspirations for this MOC: Guyver, Batman, Karas, even a little bit of Master Chief, to my surprise.
(Above: 3/4 Effaced, 'ready-stance'.)

4thW.C.: It was all there. Conceptually, it was a marriage of the Guyver and the Flash. =P

4thW.C.: Thematically - I was hardly SUBTLE in my visual approach to this build. SPEEDspeedSPEED. It was all about a tortured soldier gifted with incredible speed and a few sharp and shiny toys...

...Remember all those warnings from your Mom about RUNNING WITH SCISSORS? =P

~Ahem~ Anyways, for a figure that needed to visually evoke such a speed-demon, I wanted the look to be curving and lithe.
(Above: Effaced, armblades retracted)

4thW.C.: ...and the same, deployed. While I really like the way the The Guyver handles slick melee dash n'dice sword ballet, I felt that FIXING the blades in position jutting from the elbows were too derivative of the same alien armor trope, and I wasn't trying to make a tribuMOC, or even some alt-version of it. So, for the sake of increased reach and well, options... I articulated them (simple technic swivel), so they can wolvie-out, a bit.

(Fixing that swivel all the way to the wrist, it also meant Rake wouldn't be limited to piercing strikes of pretty shallow depth, as the bit of blade left protruding past the elbow (while retracted) was much; prolly less than 12", on a standard human Scale. (For illustration, look below. They don't extend very far, withdrawn, and I wanted Rake to be able to plunge at least two feet-worth of monofilament problem-solver deep into the heart of even giant targets, effectively doubling his skewering potential) =P

4thW.C.: We also get a better look at the tapering for the shuriken-harness off his hips and sacrum.

Taking a tip from the ultra-lean Flash etymology, the lower torso is meant almost to taper to an avian-like point, tail-feathery-like. (Shown here effaced, and...)

4thW.C.: (...in quarter, from a lifted pirouette-pre-kick or vault.)(See, Yuri?! -It DOES move!!! =D) I was really proud, in fact, of all the planned and preserved bits of articulation. Even limited side-to-side tortion on the Waist (not shown fully, you can see it if you look carefully at a few of the 'aloft' shots).

As above, almost 180 degrees for the knees, wrists, and elbows. Scapulae move for 'shrugging' and overhead strikes. Full rotation for the hips and neck, and ...BONUS... in addition to the standard tasset-articulation you've seen in my MOCs before, the Blade Harness assembly for the Shuriken PIVOTS out of the way on that little Technic pin, to allow the legs to lift for Spiderman-style exaggerated kicks and crouches (as above). Elegance in the poses, freedom for melee, etc... You get it.

4thW.C.: And then, when returned to simple erect-stance (effaced), you re-level the Shuriken blades by swiveling them back with your fingertips. (above, and below shots) Simple, works; Liked that.
4thW.C.: A closer look at the harness assembly. The points meet when Rake stands simply, then 'scissor' for leg-lifting.

Good curves for that spine - I wanted the barbaric way he'd been hacked up to be evident, with even his remaining spine exposed. (An elastic to preserve the 'tuck' on the Lumbar area, and complete with tapered Xyphoid Process, shown below)
4thW.C.: Test

Hey, man, thanks so much - sorry for the delay in replying, but I've actually been trying to track down an actual Part Number for that thing - it's technically called a Liftarm, I think. It's definitely Technic, and I am scouring BL right now trying to give you an easy link; I use that thing so much- SO useful. I'll try to get an official name for you asap. Thx for the Review!

Thanks Jimmy! Done any more awesome LED work recently? I keep looking at minifilaments on Ebay, believe it or not, those little lazer-fingerrings (for raves etc) are the most cost-effective alternative so far...
Quoting sniperray213 Ultimate Sniper OUTSTANDING DUDE!!!!! When I saw this moc after clicking the link, I was shocked at the look and design for this. I was utter speechless. Video was epic. Pictures were INSANE! Its like you made it so that if it were the REAL THING! you gave it a bloodthirsty and Murderous personality that I cant even explain myself. The Rating for this is WAY OUTTA THIS WORLD!!!!!
Aw, man - thank you! That's very kind - I do try to put as much into the writing as the build/pics, and it's awesome of you to Comm on such. Really appreciate that!
Quoting Thomas Z. This thing is amazing, it has a very dark feel to it but also cool at the same time, and those incredible details, mindblowing job! I just love that last picture, kinda feels like Batman in some power armor. If I had to pic a favourite part, it would be the head design, pure genious.
I really was pleasantly surprised how well that pic turned out, eventually (turned it into my homepage's title pic), and it was the more sinister of the implied story pics, other than that rooftop shot - I wondered what would happen if Rake eventually made it to a populated System, in search of the Weapon... and what it would take to STOP him, now that Mal has her hooks into him?...
Quoting S H hey Clever, it's me :) beautiful moc as always, and gorgeous shaping. can't wait to see more of your stuff :D

Now, that is certainly something I WANT to do, but what you could do in the meantime is enrich all of MOCpages by writing some of your own moc'iverse into being, then I can read while I wait on Build Time to open back up! WRITE a minimum of 30 minutes of BioMocery each day! =) Challenge!

One of the things I really need to invest in is some strong lighting to control the ambience in my ghetto-photo-studio. As soon as I'm relocated to my new Studio, that's next on my list - then we'll see. I have been watching all of you on the YouTubez to absord some of your skills... =)

Quoting Shadow Kaiju I have watched your YT videos they are really cool but have u ever thought of doing stop motion for your creations kinda like found footage stuff were you can barley see the creature or actual audio logs to go with them just wondering if you ever thought about it because that would be awesome and i also wanted to say i love your bionicle and the story is just awesome. :)
I totally appreciate the Story comment; to answer your first question though, I have to admit I'm really struggling with it. (I'm moving my whole studio, due to the recent addition to my family, and it means that setting up a place to get controlled lighting necessary to make good StopMo will be harder than ever.) I find myself really wanting to try my hand at it, but am so busy, tackling the task right now would be pretty implausible. Ty for your review! =)

Quoting Clever Crowe a pretty trash job of keeping up
Are you kidding me?
Sadly, no. A great many MOCs, even those of Builders I've Faved, go unnoticed by me. Occasionally I catch myself looking at a Side Icon while I'm checking out something new, and go 'When did they build that? That's quite good... I missed it?' Then when I click, it was less than a month ago. =( And there will ALWAYS be the Prolific Builders whose portfolios are so deep I never see them all, whose early works have broken Thumbnails, and whom have Foldered their MOCs so many times I never open those if their Folder Header thumbnails don't grab my attention. I browse alot, but MISS more good stuff than I EVER discover.

Quoting Glorified Pessimist Much more elaborate than the others, I like it. However, what I like even more is how awesome you are in the comments section. You respond to everyone, check out their MOCs and do so to 50+ people. I really respect that, even more so than your building skills since the former is far more difficult. Keep it up, I will always look forward to what's next!
That is surpassingly kind of you to say; in frank truth - I feel like I do a pretty trash job of keeping up. It has come to my realization that I cannot possibly MOC as often as so many here, and that if I want to Contribute, is must be when, and how, that I can: (rather than how OFTEN I can). I make a small point to try looking in on something or someone at least once a day, and even if ONE review is all I can do, I do that - and keep moving. I have often considered posting W.I.P.s, but feel in my case they would be energy better spent just getting finished MOCs together, photo'ed, and storied. I do try to Reply, (because in my book 'Hey, you took the time to look in on my stuff; least I can do is acknowledge and thank'). And duly, profound Thanks to you for both the Review and the kind words, G.P. Cheers, M8!~

Quoting Clever Crowe Close (if I understand your take correctly): Guillione has been contracted to this project by a shadowy superior, but not to fight Mal. The SAI was apparently a front. Its innocent scientists THOUGHT they were documenting a lost civilization, but their imperial financiers were actually USING them as a funnel to gather data and potential Ancient Technology, to be weaponized by the third Empire.
Wait, to Somnifferia isn't actually an ancient civilization? All the last posts have been lies? :O (Or did you just mean that the scientists THOUGHT their only goal was to document Somnifferia, and they did that faithfully, but the empire had ulterior motives for them doing that?)
The latter, my dear fellow, the latter. Funded by Empire, they were used, their research subverted by those who smelled POWER when the dust of Somniferria was first unsettled. They sent scientists, told them their work was vital for the betterment of Empire, then stole every byte they perceived could be WEAPONIZED. Poor S.A.I. =( They did their job too well; they gave Empire the holy GRAIL of all technological discoveries. Then wept blood tears when they saw what their beloved Empire did with it all.

Quoting Stormjay Rider Well, finally was able to complete the whole story. So, if I may get this straight: The doctor was trying to make an anti-M*lg*th**n weapon with her own blood, but she still controlled it, and now controls the sergeant, and is moving him towards Somnifferia to obtain something?
Close (if I understand your take correctly): Guillione has been contracted to this project by a shadowy superior, but not to fight Mal. The SAI was apparently a front. Its innocent scientists THOUGHT they were documenting a lost civilization, but their imperial financiers were actually USING them as a funnel to gather data and potential Ancient Technology, to be weaponized by the third Empire. Guillione's superiors somehow recovered a little Blood... and immediately the powerhungry Empire went to work making its power their own, duping Rake into volunteering as prototype for their new exosuit based on SEVERAL Ancients; Mal, Masa, Val... and I'll say no more, there. More stuff to come. On your last question, though - every drop of Mal IS Mal; she's definitely growing in Rake; and taking over, he's trying to fight Her, but losing, inch-by-inch (and YES... Malgothiel IS searching for something, and is sending Rake after it...*wink* =) THANKS for looking in!

Quoting Fabrizio 'zib' Great. Used the same armor piece for top head in a - unpublished - MOC done last summer. They will say I've copied you. ;)
No worries, Fabrizio - there are SEVERAL things that inspired the head-shape, and they are wide enough to have touched upon too many genres to make blame culpable. All right gang, as I head off to see my daughter portray an Elf in her school Christmas Play - the end-of-year festivities on a similar vein remind me that Plans must be made for the new year. So: an announcement, off-topic, that will likely be mirrored on my Homepage - I am... CONSIDERING... shattering the 4thWall entirely and and attending a CONVENTION for our plastic shenaniganizations. Suggestions are welcome. I am aware of Brickfair, and as an east-coast Yank, that one's in the lead, so far, for next year. To consider: NEVER BEEN to a CON of ANY KIND, in my entire LIFE. EVER. Quoting Toa Spirit Crowe I need an opinion. I'm thinking of making a moc based on this http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/sith_stalker_armor Let me know what you think please.
Doable, but this is a very COMPACT armor compliment for a humanoid-scale figure. I can easily see one of the KK-Helms for the head (the one with that Cruciform split for the eyes and mouth). Super-curvy, so I'd stick with Bionicle heads as shoulder deltoids, and lean - so don't go building LAYERED cladding to the limbs; it'd get bulky, fast. There ya go - my two cents. =) (Thanks for looking in!)

Fiction! - Fiction, I assure you ;) (And let's be honest, if I'm lying, and I'm drawing from Real events to narrate Somniferria's History - then we'd likely all NOT be around, to suffer very long. All signs point to the Somniferrians having met a very STICKY end. => ---thanks all, for your Patience - I DID go to write more Story last night, but (at least here on the East Coast) MOCpages was down. Quoting Stormjay Rider Random question, would you consider any of your Somnifferians as your selfMOC?
I honestly have given this a good deal of thought since Yuri broke down and built his own, and will say that one MOC will be, but hasn't been seen yet. THIS one, (the 'Grendel'), is as close as I've ever come. I wanted it to be a departure from the Ancients storyline, but still written in the same universe. I was a guy who doesn't do SelfMOCs, but then I saw how cool Yuri's was, and am having second thoughts... =)

Quoting Stormjay Rider Ooh, now this turn of events is interesting. Also, have you given any more thought to a timeline of Somnifferian events so far discovered? It doesn't have to limit everything else about him -- There was a BIONICLE timeline released in 2007, but it was still expanded on until 2010.
Not sure how feasible that will be - Storyline still getting filled in at the END, but chronology is mixed because some of my ideas slot in BEFORE what I loosely think of as 'the Present'; i.e.~ a bunch of events, happening quickly, NEAR now, but terribly overlapping, and some occurring nearly a galaxy apart. I have never worried about nailing it down, and just let it come as it does (at least for now). Still in love with the IDEA of a Timeline, but doubt it'll happen until I take a break from writing in this Universe. Thanks for this Input, S.R.!

Yep! - those legs are gonna be polarizing, I expect. Hadda sacrifice alot of cladding for flexion's sake. Still like how they move, even so slender-looking. Glad you liked the other design bits! Cheers~ =)

Quoting Toa Spirit Crowe I must wonder...since there is a Grendel will you create a Beowulf for it? :)
Well, it may come to your attention that, for the first time EVER, one of my MOCs has the characters "Mk. 1.0" in the Title... ;) And that is all I will say, for now. Insightful thoughts on the P.R. questions, too, but answering would wander into Spoiler territory. =) Thanks again!
  October 29, 2013
Crowe I must wonder...since there is a Grendel will you create a Beowulf for it? When it comes to created monsters I've come to see that when a monster is created there is always someone who makes something to counter it. Sort of like and forgive the reference Pacific Rim. To fight monsters people usually make their own. That question aside the story is coming along quite nicely :)

Quoting Johann Dakitsch And yet another great one! Very sleek and flowing, lots of nice tchniques here. Love that head. I guess the arms look a bit crude, and lower legs should benefit from a little extra volume on the sides, those are minor critiques. I also must say that maybe it could stand out more in front of a lighter background, but thats just a suggestion. But yah, overall, you did it again, man!
Appreciated, but in keeping with a lighter frame, TOO much greeble closure would've added over-balancing weight (especially in the arms). Glad you liked the head design, on of my fave bits, there. Thanks for looking!
Quoting Fang The Druid AMAZING! I like the hand design but one thing that i thought was weird was the thinness of the legs but it still is cool. I think the head kinda looks like a football helmet.
Those legs are going to get alot of Comm attention for their skinniness, I think; but my commitment early on to keep fully-double-jointed knees for crouching and sprinting articulation kept me from thickening them too far. I added some knee armor at one point, then removed to regain some flexion there. Thanks for the Review! =) And as for the head, well, for all the Influences that lead to it - THAT one is a comparison I never expected, LOL. Football? =P Wait and see where the inspiration for that came from, and you might find that ironic, in retrospect. Cheers!~

Quoting toa taile Excellent work Crowe, such elegant form and shaping. The weapons are perfect as well.

Quoting L.A. Miranda I find it a bit more skinny, and even I think that give him a bit more of armor won't work better, I still find the arms too long. (Also, if you want, I would like you to tell me after you finish writing the story. I have been a bit busy recently and not as active as I would like here. =/)
(Sorry to have truncated your Comm to address points without Scrolling, but will try to cover all questions as I saw them)Definitely a departure - this is really my FIRST-ever MOC to depict something HUMANOID in Scale. The Story, when I've finished, will deal with the Design simplicity, AND the lengthy limbs, but telling here would be a tiny bit Spoiler-ish. I will CERTAINLY let you know when the Story is up, to give a little Closure on your observations for limb proportion and length, but these are insightful (and even spot-on Plot details =) You have simply Intuited them before I have finished WRITING them!). Finally, yes, I am contemplating another BIG Scale-MOC on the horizon, but the ambition needed to finish it will likely take it into next year. You already know how slow I am =(. I try not to rush in the service of Quality. THANK YOU so much for your Feedback, Miranda. Look in later, or I'll drop you a line on Progress. Cheers!~

I am loving this thing Clever- ZUCCHINI POWAH!! Heh, jokes aside, the shaping and litheness(spelling ?) really does pay off. I'm also very glad you decided to step out of your comfort zone, it really shows. (in a good way) I'm liking this one's story, as well. Also, just as a notif, Mąėl V3 is coming Halloween night, if all works out :D. G'day, Clever, and again, great work, -bows and exits stage right-

I'm not sure if I'm glad you recently decided to go for more 'regular' creations, instead of your usual massive MOCs... I actually like more these ones, but in the other hand I'm too accostumed to your usual titans xD First of all, I really, really love that head (again). I tried once to use that HF part as well for something similar, but never come up with anything good, and the fact that someone did it makes me happy: I'm finally able to see a thing I was trying to get for a long time! Double-knee legs are also amazing, particulary for those beak-tail combination on the front of them that gives the design a curvy, futuristic look. Torso is great, too, again using a lot of HF parts in brilliant ways; but specially, is because I'm seeing AN INIKA TORSO THERE.<3<3<3<3 But, hey, not all is going to be smiles and hearts! ;3 I find it a bit more skinny, and even I think that give him a bit more of armor won't work better, I still finde the arms too long. Anyways, it's an impressing MOC, wonderful work, dear. You know, these recent MOCs from you are like more... accesible, meaning that they don't use custom parts or an incredible amount of them. That's a very important point, and I love it. Keep like this, but from time to time, give us a classic massive monster of yours! ;3 (Also, if you want, I would like you to tell me after you finish writing the story. I have been a bit busy recently and not as active as I would like here. =/)

Quoting Bionitech Inc A lot of detail gets lost because you have black on a black background. I think if you had the MOC in an off white almost neutral warm gray you would see a lot more, because the lighting would let you see more of the details. Lighting is a difficult thing to master, but with a few minor changes you can really make it pop, no photoshop necessary.
Oh, I concur - but that'd be totally inappropo for the Story behind the Figure, so I threw the Blue in for Good Measure as a concession. Shadows are the thing, 'far as this guy goes. I THANK you, though, for the Feedback! Cheers!~ =)

Quoting David Roberts I love how this creation is posed, especially in the cover photo and the first photo against the sheet.
Thanks, David - I have something in mind for you on a new project, some Somniferrian Flora and Fauna suitable for your Group, Sir. Planet needs Critters! - More on that, later. Thanks for your Review!~Cheers =P

Quoting Stormjay Rider It's not half as fun without the backstory. So, now I can comment on the MOC itself: It's a lot "cleaner" than your other models. The change to a more lithe figure is interesting. Also, DAT ZUCCHINI BLADE!
This is me pushing myself a bit - outside my comfort zone on alot of levels, and lithe was a HUGE element, so I'm glad it conveyed. As for the Zucchini... well, I am not famous for my Horticultural prowess. :) It might've been a Turnip. Or an incredibly blue Carrot...

Quoting Chris Roach superb!
Thanks Chris!!!
Quoting [ Chro ] Certainly feels more futuristic or robotic than your other MOCs, which I like.
This is a big departure from the Ancients' line, which I hope the Story will illustrate as it's filled in, Chro - Thx for looking! =)
Quoting Toa Spirit Is the name a Beowulf reference? It looks really good Crowe :)
Because the Empire I narrate has a Human origin - Yes. As Mythology transpires our age, so it continues in the far-flung future; and the dire inference made in the Name used should carry clearly after the Story's up. Thanks for your patience and patronage! =)
