M.O. Round 4: Nick Barrett vs Pif 500: I'll Be Back
Arnold Shwarzenegger in The Running Man was not kidding.
About this creation

2013 MOC Olympics

Opponent: Pif 500

Below is the moment in the 1987 film 'The Running Man' - one of Arnie's better efforts - when he tells the smug, brutal and somewhat demented game show host who's sending him to certain doom that he intends to return....

It's set in 2017, a time when the makers of the film assumed governments would be watching our every move.... Wait, what ?

The centre part of the game show set, as seen in the movie.

The vehicle Arnie gets strapped in always reminded me of some kind of high-tech bath chair...

The lettering went well, I think.

I'll be using that arch technique again, too.

Pull the grey lever to release the stoppers and send the bath chair hurtling into the tunnel...

Some details of the set...

The set separates into four parts...

For that authentic stage set feel...

Damon Killian, pre-comeuppance; Ben Richards, still in trouble and security guy, high on steroids...

Quoting Marc dZ WOOOOW! From the mech to Schwarzy... You're always where you're not expected! Impressive build, Nick. The logo is stunning, I was wondering if there was a trick but no!! What I appreciate the most is all the work you did to catch the light on the dio.
Thanks Marc. Photographing this was not the work of a moment... :-)

Wow! This is really cool, Nick! I recognized it immediately. The NCS sign is perfect, as is the chair that holds Arnie. When I saw it, a little voice in the back of my head said in a thick Austrian accent, "He had to split." Very well done, and good luck in the M.O.

Nick, this is an absolutely brilliant MOC, both great eye candy and a masterclass in building techniques. The chair is of course fantastic and the way you've incorporated all the angles and slopes of the set. Well done and congratulations on advancing!

This makes me want to put on my Captain Freedom workout tape! I admit I was really jealous of you when you got this film, and I had visions of Buzzsaw or Sub-zero, but the stage set you have built is tremendous. The chair showcases your technic skill well, and I love how you incorporated a launch function even though it wasn't necessary. The logo is simply brilliant and your figs look great, especially Sven the guard. Well done Nick, good luck for next round.
