long range search and exploration vehicle
About this creation
The Run Around is a long range search and exploration vehicle that is equally capable in high orbital flight as well as atmospheric. The ship is filled with recon and detection equipment and has room in the rear compartment to store up to two stretchers for search and rescue missions. There is an option to add a warp field generator to extend its range to deep space so it can be independently deployed.
This is the first minifig model I have actually completed. Since my building style favors maxi-fig scale trying to put a lot of detail into a model this small was a considerable challenge. While it was a difficult build it only took about 4 days to design and build. Perhaps the hardest part was the wing, I knew I wanted the wing to have some sweep back but the challenge was to seamlessly integrate the wing to the body (i.e. no angled gaps), I think I managed to pull the wing off pretty well.

...a very good job, I love to see when people use a clean edge (instead of slopes) for the leading edge of a wing. It's tough to integrate, but you did pretty well here, I can't think of a way to cover the one little gap without pushing to a larger scale. |

Wow! What a clean build. The wings did not even look like LEGOŽ at first sight. |

Yes it is that part with the pattern Brasso-ed off. Wish Lego would make a version of that part without printing... Thank you for commenting. |

Very sleek. Are the tail fins real lego parts? What set are they from? |

The sweeping motion of the ship, or rather the transition of the narrow tail fins to the wide front cockpit, combined with the angled wings, makes a great build. My only problem is the transitioning white plates on the top of the cockpit - they just seem a bit out of the place. Looks like a fish. A cool fish, though. |

Not really into sci-fi but this looks great; it's so smooth and looks like it could really function. Imagination with realism is a nice way to build : ) 5/5 |

Great work as usual. The cockpit configuration looks especially good as does the black striping on the wings. |

Smooth. And big. The cockpit and the engines are the best parts, but all of it is great. I'm curious about the tailfins though. What pieces are they? |

Very nice creation, I like the swept back wings and the SNOT techniques you used. |

another great MOC! It looks like a good design to do some variants of, such as troop deployment, etc... |
