Bionicle MOC: Nui-Moko
A Bio MOC of Jurrasic proportions!
About this creation

About The MOC
*faints* man was this one a challenge!

Nui-Moko is a MOC I just kinda happened upon building. It started with tinkering with a head design that uses the Dragon Bolt Mask and a Brain attack brain, though here I used both of my Aquagon brains, when after getting the jaw on I thought it resembled the head of a dinosaur, so a dinosaur it became. After that I struggled with figuring out which kind of dinosaur I'd base my MOC on. I eventually settled on the Allosaurus I even gathered many of the photos from the wiki page, arranged them together and printed a reference page out. I based this MOC heavily on the Allosaurus, but it isn't meant to be an exact representation of one.

The building of this MOC was a fairly slow going process. I worked on it inconseculatively for about a month, maybe a little longer. In light of some of my more recent MOCs I made it a point to not make a bricklink order to accommodate my needs for this MOC. I wanted to rely strictly on what I had at the time. I felt the use of bricklink might become something of a crutch to lean on and I didn't want to become dependent on using BL to get a major project done. Therefore I made the point to hold true to my motto and MOC with what I have instead of with what I need. The process of this MOC from start to finish was very evolutionary. The more I built the more I realized I was building on a theme of shifting mass and structure. Nui-Moko is very flexible, poseable and surprisingly stable. I was a bit surprised when I stood it up for the first time and it took little effort to stand it up on carpet no less! I tried to convey these features in the photographs.

"Mokonui" means "Dinosaur" in Maori, so given the Rahi, Nui-Jaga and Nui-Rama, I decided that "Nui-Moko" would be the name of this creature, which in Matoran would mean "Giant Lizard" I'll leave it up to interpretation whether that means any dinosaur like Rahi, or this particular kind. :D

Bio
The Nui-Moko is a type of Creature found primarily on Bota Magna and later on, Sphereus Magna after it was reformed by Mata Nui. They were originally an inhabitant of all of Sphereus Magna but after the Shattering they were isolated to Bota Magna since they reside primarily in the jungle landscape. After the reformation of Spherus Magna they integrated with the other creatures of Bara Magnaand the Rahi of the Matoran Universe. The Bota Magnan Vorox called these creatures "Kyoryu" but it was the Matoran that eventually named it the Nui-Moko, this name eventually stuck and was use universally across Spherus Magna.

After the reformation of Spherus Magna The Nui-Moko became the main predatory creature of Rock Steeds. While Rock Steeds have acute senses, the Nui-Moko can simply out run and overpower them in a chase or a fight. Similarly to the Rock Steed, Nui-Mokos can be tamed and ridden, though they tend to be more temperamental than the Rock Steeds. The advantage is more speed and strength, but at the cost of endurance, fierce loyalty and low maintenance. Unlike Rock Steeds which can be tamed by beating them in a one on one fight, Nui-Moko require more traditional techniques to tame.

Untamed Nui-Moko pose as much threat to any sentient beings as any wild rahi or creature. Most Nui-Moko are larger than the average Toa, and tower over Matoran, Turaga, and Agori. Larger sentient beings such as Titans can outsize Nui-Moko and often times be stronger than them physically. However, an angered nui-Moko can be very unmanageable and very dangerous, especially in packs. They can attack without provocation in some instances when encountered in the more secluded regions of the former Bota Magnan jungle or when they are hungry and looking for a meal. Unfortunately tricks like playing dead don't work, and the chances of surviving a fight with one are slim unless equipped with sufficient weaponry. If attacked and pursued by a Nui-Moko the best course of action is to quickly climb up a tree or shear rock face as they can't climb. Wild Nui-Moko are less likely to attack if accompanied by tamed Nui-Moko.

Saving the best for last. Here we have "Nui-Moko meets a snip" Snip is either too blissfully ignorant to be afraid or he's one badass little crab. ^.^

Quoting Johann Dakitsch Cool! Nice colors and nice shape, you got the propotions quite well. Could use a little polishment here and there regarding texture, though, and legs look pretty rushed. But still a great job!
Thanks Johann. The lower legs were the last part to get done and by then I didn't have as many parts to choose from and its also a more confined space so that's primarily why its like that. But Aye, its something for me to improve upon at a later date when I feel I can do a better job with it. Thanks for the feedback. :D

Quoting David the Fire Ninja Jedi Those colors work wonders with this MOC - it really stands out from (I'd say) the majority of other Bio creations out there. Along with that you were able to pull off great shaping and flexibility! Great work!
Thank you. I'm glad you think it stands out. In all honesty, that's much easier to do around here. Not many people really doing a whole lot of unique stuff. There's a few, but its not nearly as much as say flickr or even DA. Lotta figures and not much else.

Quoting Fenrek (Fluffy) Such a fantastic build and the two-tone colouration works beautifully here. Love the flexibility he has too. Man I always get envious of builds like this, I can't build dino mocs at all >_<
Thanks Aaron, but that's BS You could build a MOC like this if you wanted to. I've seen you build some really great stuff. Your problem is that you psych yourself out and tell yourself "you can't." That's something you need to stop doing. You could build anything you wanted to, provide you've got the right parts, you just gotta try mate.

Quoting Caleb of Enalica Well, Dave, this happens to be the coolest bio-MOC I have seen before! I don't think I've seen a dinosaur bionicle, so this is especially cool! :)
They're out there. Just google "Bionicle Dinosaur" You should be able to find stuff fairly easily. As for coolest Bio-MOC, then clearly you haven't seen that many bioMOCs. There's stuff out there way better than my work. Thanks for the kind words though. You're too kind. ^_^
