Gravely Class Guided Missile Cruiser
The Gravely Class Guided Missile Cruiser is one of the most powerful, and detailed ships I have built. She is named after Admiral Samuel L. Gravely Jr., the first African-American man to command a ship, and reach the status of Admiral in the U.S. Navy. This is one vessel that certainly packs a punch.
About this creation

Full View. She is armed with:
-2 8 in. (203mm.) Advanced Gun System
-2 VLS with 100 missile tubes
-2 Advanced CIWS (4 20mm M61 Vulcans)
-4 Anti Ship Missile Launchers
-~5 50. Cal Mounted Machine Guns

Forward view. The hull..... So.... Hard.... To build.....

Another view showing the hull design. I absolutely love doing it like this now. It just looks overall... better, more realistic. Harder, but better looking in the end.

Front section. Here you can see the 1st VLS and one of the 8 inch guns. I chose to use 8 inch guns because they seem to create a better distinction between "Destroyer", and "Cruiser". Usually, the only difference in modern ships between destroyers and cruisers is maybe 1 extra gun or VLS in the cruiser. Look at the Spruance Class and the Ticonderoga Class. There isn't much of a difference between the two.

Here's the bridge section of this mighty vessel. Here you can see the two CIWS. One of the Vulcan's on the right CIWS got flicked by me by accident. Sorry!

The two radar towers. These are probably some of my most detailed towers.

Here's a clearer picture of bridge and radar tower section. The two little flat gray pieces on the sides are the AEGIS radars ;)

A view of the second VLS, the second 8 inch gun, and the anti-ship missiles. The pad on which the anti-ship missiles is fitted on, can be refitted with Tomahawk Cruise Missiles depending on the deployment.

The anti-ship missiles. Pretty basic. Not much greebling here.

The rear view and the helicopter landing pad. Well, actually, it is a drone landing pad. These drones would be used for anti-submarine warfare.

What's that big black thing attacking the Gravely???!!!

Aerial view. Thanks for viewing!

Hey! I love this! Just one thing, could you make it in LDD or else give out some instructions? Thanks. (I will NOT upload it to the LDD gallery) Otherwise, it is great!

Quoting Alex Sonny Awesome hull design, well worth the time. Also, I hope you managed to save the ship from the evil pillow :D Anyway, great design, but the landing pad could use a little more detail. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! The landing pad was mainly built at 3:00am (blah), so I wasn't thinking quite straight. The next morning I knew the overall internal support structure would make it impossible to really make it look good, so I said screw it.

That's a really smart SNOT method you have going there! Great work :)

Good stuff! I agree with AP that this needs more tiles, also, you could make the rear gun turret, a bit lower in the hull, what i mean is it looks too high up right now, this is purely for looks, and then have the heli/drone pad even lower than that

Quoting Achintya Prasad Not bad at all! I do like the hull design, however, on such a large scale, all those little studs really show, and make it really busy looking. Maybe some tiles could help it out some.....
Thanks for the advice! I am about to order a ton of pieces so I'll make sure and get some flats! :)
