I couldn't get 'lolcat' out of my head building this. Madcat. it's MADcat. Right. Got it.
About this creation

2013 MOC Olympics

Opponent : Ben Merrill

My R3 category called for a mech from the Battletech universe. I'd never heard of Battletech, and I'd never built a mech before; this is pretty much exactly why I do the MocOlympics - nice one judges for making me sweat a bit, and best of luck to Ben.

So, looking through the pics, I found something called the Madcat that I quite liked the styling of, so I gave it a bash. In 1970s homemaker figure size, to the surprise of no-one who knows me...

All those lights and controls and things do something - don't ask me what.

I figured the ladies are somewhat under-represented in this kind of thing, so here's our female pilot getting ready to kick butt.

It's a snug fit but she's still smiling.

That wheel on the back raises and lowers the SAM batteries. Arms are poseable as well.

I haz guns. Pew pew!

Er, please don't fire!

Do'h! "But you said fire..."

Smiling but deadly. That's Homemaker figs for you...

Awesome! I need a new judge in my contest, because one of them had to leave. So could you be a judge for me? Thanks! ~Bill

I'm sure Mad2CV is even more wicked when cast at 60mph!:) Nick, as many mocpagers said, you amazed us by this unexpected entry from yours. Nothing seems to frighten you (maybe yes, we do not see the making of...). Impressive mech, full of details and what a size!!

Nick. This is a real "Bust out" MOC! I could recognize the Madcat at a glance. You nail the look of the machine perfectly. Once again, I am amazed at your work because of the scale. Building in that scale scares me to death. I don't even want to try it. But your MOCs consistently delight. Presentation, execution and humorous context. Good luck and... Attack!

Quoting Ben Merrill Congratulations on winning this round of the MocOlympics. I look forward to watching you advance further through the ranks. I appreciate the details you put into this build, especially the wheel on the back with the inner workings to raise and lower the missile batteries.
Thanks for a fun match.

Yikes! So many studs ... oh, wait ;o) Great shape and proportions, Nick. The homemaker size pays off when it comes to details. Congratulations, you got my vote.

The little things tip this for me. The studs doubling as rivets, the moveable rockets, the cockpit, and the fantastic home maker pilot. Sort of quirky and yet deadly. You got my vote.

Great job Nick, really nice. I would have rather seen a generic 'mech' category as Battletech doesn't ever seem to have had the exposure in the UK, unless you are a gaming nerd (like me). Still, you worked within the category, got pushed (I love that too, it's why I keep coming back) and produced a tasty build. Well done.

I love how you don't quite see the scale of this from the first photo and then the cockpit opens to surprise the viewer. I also like how you've built a totally new type of craft/vehicle but in your distinctive style, both the 70's fig and the studs. I like the legs. They look quite delicate but the fixed knee joint is obviously strong and the feet are properly proportioned to let the mech stand on its own. A nice bit of playability with the SAM luanchers but perhaps a few greebles on the back might have broken up the look. Yet again, I look at one of your MOCs and think that I really should do something with the box of maxi-fig heads that I own. A super build!

I really like the fact that you stick to 'your' figurine-scale. It doesn't like that vast though, it stays really more elegant. And maybe one remark of criticism: Does it have enough armour?

Quoting Achintya Prasad This is great! My only complaint is the back; I feel that all those showing studs are just begging for some greebles, or tiles :-D Still though, this is a very strong entry, and I hope you make it to round 4!
I think you're probably right about that... thanks Achintya!

Great-looking build, especially for a first mech! I'm also unfamiliar with the source material but a quick Google search shows that this is a great representation of it, unsurprisingly. I'd like to see more articulation/poseability in the legs, although I know from experience that it's very difficult to achieve that for a mech this size without it collapsing. So good work and good luck!

Pure awesome Nick! Love the feet and especially the guns (and, of course, the "bazookas"). The fact that you made this in homemaker fig scale is brilliant, just don't tell her to "do the dishes". ;) The whole mech looks nimble and tough, exactly what Madcat is supposed to look like. Fantastic job and good luck!

Nick this is Battletech! I love suzy homemaker as the pilot is hilarious! Love the cockpit and the feature of raising and lowering the missile pods . I also like the way you made the feet . Excellent entry good luck!
