There are a few 109's around and this is my take...I hope ive got the shape bang on, i used LDD to create it and then concentrated on specific areas which I couldn't produce due to illegal connections (like the gear), and wings which needed the human eye and lots of modification. I am very happy with the general shape, wings shape (of which more later), the cockpit and the landing gear. My aim was to build minifig scale with as thin a wing as possible but with stowing gear. As such the wings took ages to get right, they are just a single brick thick but the gear does stow fully and pretty much 'hides' when you look from the front. Because the landing gear on the 109 is well forward of the wing it was difficult to get the wing spars strong, spacious enough and then the right shape...i made about three types and only a change of landing gear made it work correctly. It has opening cockpit, working flaps and of course gear. Colours are from Jagdgeschwader 54 (Green Hearts) and are early war...thus the yellow nose and spinner which were phased out after 42. Markings are sheet vinyl cut out with scalpel. Hope you like it.

Thanks, yeh the wings took ages...about four versions to get right. Will do another soon, maybe a wildcat or macchi. Thanks for commenting.

Nice work! The Me-109 is really difficult to model correctly at this scale (I've been trying too) but I believe you did an excellent job with the proportions and overall profile. The functioning cockpit and undercarriage are the icing on the cake!

Quoting Lego Builders Great looking Messerschmitt and easily recognizable. And the retractable landing gears really add to the playability. 5/5 -LB Senior
Thanks for the feedback, i like the stowing gear too. Only wish lego did some slightly larger dia wheels....they are too small but next size hub up looked sillly.

Quoting Henrik Jensen Great rendition of the Me 109, The color scheme looks authentic, and the decals adds the final finish. A suggestion: Your cockpit looks a Little short, I think you could increase the length by one stud, towards the rear.
Yeh i agree there, it was a compromise based on using the long wedge....which otherwise was perfect for the job.

Quoting Matt Bace Great job! The shaping and color scheme both look very good, and it's nice that the landing gear are retractable.
Cheers, landing gear and wings were a labour of love...loads of trial and error and LDD!

Yeh so do I...favourite warbird, a beautiful aircraft well ahead of its time, shame you can't replicate the DB605 engine noise in Lego!

Quoting David Roberts A neat version of this classic aircraft. Great work on the wing/undercarriage combination.
Many thanks, the wings were trial and error...repeatedly, in order to get look/practicality/strength correct...
