Legendary U.R.S. vs F.I.S. War Series: Behind The Scenes: Season 5
Here is a last look behind the scenes of my U.R.S. vs F.I.S. War Series. This looks into the making of Season 5. Please comment, rate and enjoy!
About this creation
Well, the series is over. It's done, finite, fin, the end. But here is one last look behind the scenes at the making of the Series, specifically, the final Season, Season 5. In a slight change to usual, each picture will also be accompanied by an interesting fact or bit of Behind The Scenes info from the making of the series (not always relating to the picture it's with! Haha) Enjoy!

Here is the very first sketch I did of The Manipulator, right back before Season 1. I re-discovered this during the making of Season 5 so thought I'd share it with you.

At the start of the war, Iadsgb (whom the story was jointly written with), and I didn't know what era the war was set in! It was originally going to be modern and at one point I even had the idea of it being set in the Wild West! It was only when I started building and needed lots of the same soldiers that I used the clones and it became set in the Clone Wars.

These are the two scout ships used by Phoenix and Lovelock.

Bisvernicof the OvaSeer should really be called Biswernicov, but due to a spelling error, got changed! Personally, I think for the better!

The miniature set for the town that gets bombed on Ryloth.

Did you know; Vasilios Nikolaou's name is spelled in multiple different ways throughout the series because we couldn't remember how to spell it properly! Sorry Vas'!

A moment of silence please for my dog Glen, who sadly passed away during the making of Season 5.

Did you know; The shortest Episode is Part 5: The Chase, in Season 1, with only 5 pictures!

One of the sets for the bombed town on Ryloth.

Did you know; The longest Episode is the very last episode; Part 27: New Dawn in Season 5, with 43 pictures!

This is the other set used for the town on Ryloth, this one features the bunker in which the F.I.S. hide.

Did you Know; The most popular episode is Part 13: Christophsis Battle, in Season 1.

Oh look! It appears a Twi'lek managed to escape! Throughout this series, I hid random figures or objects in several of the scenes. Anybody notice any of them? I'll reveal their positions throughout this Behind The Scenes Moc.

Did you know; The most popular Season is Season 1, with a total of 134 likes!

In the process of creating the Ryloth plains for the trench battle. I made several sections detachable so that I could move them around to fit into any shot I needed more space in.

Did you know; The biggest set that I made throughout the whole series, was the set for the base on Wayland in Season 3!

A shot of the battle scenes. Due to a lack of Clone Troopers, I filled up the background with Stormtroopers!

In real life, Iadsgb and I are cousins, Jelli is Iadsgb's sister, Bisvernicof is their father and Callum is one of their friends!

Here is the medical bay set.

Did you know; The Series nearly stopped after Season 3 due to a lack of viewer interest, comments and likes? It was only because I wanted to see it through to the end that it continued and picked up a new audience for Season 5.

Another hidden object - a teddy bear behind the counter in the hospital!

Originally both Zulcan Turso and Jamie Clift were going to survive the final battle!

One thing I really wanted to do in Season 5 was see Biosnake before he became a cyborg so I created a flashback sequence to show him in. Here are the two versions of Biosnake. Pre-accident and Cyborg.

There was going to be a storyline in the series in which Biosnake wanted to get back at the U.R.S. for destroying Delta-4. In it, he installed the cloaking device (first mentioned in Season 4) on a ship and snuck aboard The Manipulator at night. He made his way to Blast's office and found Blast asleep. He goes to kill Blast but Padfoot, who was on guard duty, noticed the door was ajar and came to investigate. He goes to stop Biosnake, waking Blast in the process. Between them, they manage to subdue the scientist and capture him. He was placed in a holding cell. After Iadsgb learned of what had happened, he sent Eve to go and rescue him. Eve was also wearing one of the picsuits and uses her assassin skills to sneak through the ship. She cuts the power to the ship and rescues Biosnake who goes on a rampage through the corridors to the hanger. Eve and Biosnake escape together back to The Desolation.
I'm not sure why I cut that storyline, other than the fact it felt like it was dragging a little bit.

Here is the mini asteroid with the Delta-4 base on it. Keep an eye out for a separate moc coming soon about how to make a sphere such as this one.

Did anybody spot the mistake in Part 6 of Season 5? No? In the story it says "Cold metal bed" but instead, I built a nice cozy looking one!

The interior set for the shuttles. Yes it was the same set for both the U.R.S. and F.I.S. shuttles, I just changed the colours on the outside set to swap between the two ships.

During the filming process, the stacks of books in Blast's quarters constantly fell over so during the making of Season 4, I realized it would be a lot easier if I Blue-Tacked them down!

The set for the landing platforms on the Delta-4 base. I used a removable door arch to try and make it look like two different doors.

There was going to be another storyline in which Hess got separated from the rest of the team and had to survive alone until he was rescued. But it was cut due to it not adding anything to the overall story.

The parachute for Phoenix (or Lovelock... I can't remember which one it was!)

There was originally going to be a storyline in which the U.R.S. became trapped inside an 'asylum', of sorts, for Battle Droids that had broken down and gone out of control. So that was going to be a dark, creepy place full of rusty, scary droids that the team had to escape from but I cut it, once again, because it simply didn't add anything to the overall story. Although, it's the one section I do wish I had kept it in.

The crash site on the Delta-4 asteroid.

Did you know; There was going to be a follow-on storyline, set after Flare joins the U.R.S. and they meet High Commander Charge on Wayland. In that story, Blast would have got the chance to kill a separatist Leader, probably Wat Tambor, but he can't because he's come from the future. In his own dimension, he knows what happens to Wat and so can't do anything because he knows if he kills him, it could change the outcome of the war. Again, I scrapped that storyline because I felt that although it would have been good to go a little more into the parallel dimension, time travel part of the story, I didn't think it was necessary.

The stairwell in the Delta-4 base.

Can anybody guess the date on which I named the U.R.S.'s Venator "The Valentine"? Haha.

The Delta-4 control room and the mini set featuring the huge vats, beyond the window.

Another cut storyline featured the F.I.S. needing something from a factory and so the F.I.S. put it in lockdown and Iadsgb threatened the boss to hand it over. The U.R.S. are hot on their heels and arrive. The F.I.S. find out they're there and it turns into a hostage situation, with the F.I.S. capturing the workers. The U.R.S. raid the building and rescue most of the hostages but not all. The F.I.S. escape again. This was tweaked around with an eventually evolved into Season 5's Ryloth story arc.

One of the Delta-4 vats set. There were in fact only two whole vats, the others were just partially made! I just re-positioned the vats (they weren't stuck down) to fit into each scene!

Did you know; Some of The Calm Before The Storm's bridge is actually made out of Megablocks?! Because when I rebuilt the set, around Season 4 time, I was running low on bricks!

The other Delta-4 base set, this one featuring the coolant towers.

The Overlords in the Clone Wars TV show are very much like the OvaSeers in this series. However, the OvaSeers were in fact in planning long before the Overlords ever showed up!

The set for Biosnake's massacre.

In early concepts by myself, the OvaSeers were similar to Lermen or Ewoks. However when Iadsgb first wrote their appearance, he created something that was virtually the opposite! But that's what stuck and I must say, I think it was for the best! Haha!

The scene in which Biosnake throws a grenade at the F.I.S. leaders. You can also see the simple way I created the pitch black look inside the room - simply covering the roof with baseplates!

The final set to get dismantled was the full size Manipulator.

Concept art for the Space Ring and also an unused sketch of the Republic Prison.

Did you know; since the episodes were made, the very start of the war, the battle on Ryloth, has been re-written to feature Biosnake in his earlier form and the accident that turns him insane. To read this re-written section, visit the Official Fan Group, a link for which can be found at the bottom of this page.

In the process of creating the Space Ring. I HATED the space ring! It took ages to design and was so fragile!

Originally I had planned for the Racshaw base to be the Delta-4 base. My plan was that it was damaged in the bombing on Racshaw (hence Biosnake's injury) and so was abandoned. However, I had forgotten that the F.I.S. then destroyed the planet! So it had to be re-located to an asteroid.

The final Space Ring. It was very flimsy and I had to handle it with great care during filming!

Did you know; The lighting effects throughout the series were created by shining a torch through different coloured 'Quality Street' wrappers!

The set for the turbolift bay.

During Season 3, I started making a U.R.S. vs F.I.S. Wiki but I didn't get very far with it and it's never been finished.

Another little surprise show-up! Anybody spot The Joker in the news report scene during the final battle? The presenter is wearing The Joker's clothes and the man himself is just to the side!

Fun Fact: Zulcan Turso and Jamie Clift (helmet-less) could never be in the same picture because they both used the same hairpiece and I only had the one of it!

The simple way it became nighttime outside The Manipulator's windows! Haha!

It's once mentioned that Iadsgb is working on plans for a new F.I.S. ship named "The Deliverance." However it never comes to anything. But if you read about it the Fan Group's fact files, it says that "The Deliverance" was the F.I.S. Flagship when Blast was in charge! BUT, in the Prologue, they're clearly seen standing on the bridge of The Desolation and The Deliverance is never mentioned!

The set of The Valentine's bridge.

it's never explained why Slash randomly turns up on Manaan. It WAS going to be explained, but we just never got around to writing it and adding it into the story.

Concept art for the landing platform on Coruscant where the survivors are met by Chancellor Palpatine and also for Iadsgb's prison cell.

Slash's backstory was going to be that he was an alien humanoid who had been experimented on, trying to make him a super-solider - hence his silver armour - He was supposed to join the U.R.S. to learn how to fight and gain experience, then as a final test, kill them all. I didn't like that last part though and so that was the reason that his whole, quite frankly daft, backstory was cut!

Ooh! Look who was hiding in the Coruscant scene! The one and only Cad Bane!

This series is supposed to fit in with my original Legend of the 609th series. And it does, however in the "New Era" series, Blast and Iadsgb both have sons BEFORE they know Iadsgb has force powers. Plus, they only find out about his powers shortly before they both die. In this series, he has force powers and no son! But I do have plans for sorting this out.... Watch this space... That's all I'm saying...

The landing platform set.

My personal favourite episode is Part 5: The Battle For Ryloth: Part 3, from Season 5... Or Part 12: Duel of The Furies from Season 5... Or Part 27: New Dawn from Season 5! I can't chose!

Here is a close up of the 4 guys who signed up to have cameos in the series. In the Fan Group, I asked if anybody wished to be shown in the series and these four wanted to. Did you see yourselves in the episode?

Iadsgb's favourite episode is Part 14: From The Ashes in Season 4. (And I agree it's another very good one.) ... Or Part 14: Massacre Of The Innocents in Season 5.

The miniature Coruscant cityscape, complete with The Manipulator.

I actually re-decorated my bedroom in the same colours as Blast's study! That's how attached to the character I became!

The set of Iadsgb's prison cell.

It's never actually revealed, even in the epilogue, whether or not they make it back through the wormhole to their own dimension and time zone! However, the clever ones among you out there will be able to piece together the evidence and work it out. And for those of you who can't... well... as I said earlier... watch this space..... (Not for a long while yet though. haha.)

The destruction of The Manipulator. The longest built set was the last to be dismantled.

The first Episode was released on the 1st of June 2009, and the last episode on the 16th September 2013. That means that the series has been running for over 4 years!

Here are The Manipulator's parts, sorted into colours and ready to be put away for good.

It's never revealed in the story, but Alldecof the OvaSeer is actually Bisvernicof's uncle!

Well, after over 4 years of building and even longer writing, Iadsgb and I would just like to say a big thank you. Thanks to everyone who's been with us from the start, right back in the original groups war in the tie of the UNE and the COP. Thanks to those of us who joined in and got involved along the way. Thanks to the newer readers who we gained for Season 5. We're aware that the majority of people who were involved in this at the start, for example, most of the leaders themselves, are no longer around here on the 'pages, but it's nice to know that a couple still are. So once more, thank you all for reading. We hope you've enjoyed the series and that you stick around to see what we do next.
Sig-Iadsgb-fig and Sig-Blast-fig saying goodbye, thank you and signing off.
