"They've beat us."
Captain Santos lowered his telescope. "It's all right, Michael. We tried our best," Ander spoke softly. "There was no way we could have arrived in Rainos before the Mythronians got there."
Kailash sat around a large wooden table below decks on a shabby schooner headed for Rainos. Brick, Ander, and Captain Santos discussed their next move. Captain Michael Santos was leading a brother band of soldiers to protect their uncle and his land in Rainos. He gloomily slumped in silence. Ander looked thoughtful.
"Aw, come on, guys! There'll probably be plenty of Mythronian butts left to kick!" Brick piped up. "We'll arrive in a few days," Ander murmured. And they did. They sent a small boat to head for the shore.
"Oh, no," Kailash gulped at the horrific sight. Rainosian bodies lay on the beach, cruelly cut down.
"We're too late," the captain said somberly. "Brothers, the Mythronians have killed our uncle along with these other soldiers. We will have REVENGE!" The men shouted, agreeing.
"This is surely the work of Mythron. Look at this blue arrow," Ander said as he bent down to inspect. "This battle happened not long ago. We must stay alert!"
Captain Santos climbed to higher ground and spotted something in the distance.
"Ho! Mythron soldiers, heading for the shore! Everyone get ready! There coming in fast!"
They all rushed forward and waded into the shallow water to engage the attackers!
The soldiers yelled in surprise as they jumped out of their boat to strike.
Kailash quickly took a soldier out.
An archer shot out and took down one of Captain Santos men. Before another arrow was let loose, Brick bowled the man over, and they wrestled violently.
The skirmish was almost over, it seemed, as Kailash rushed to help Brick.
Suddenly, a patrol of Mythronians burst from the foliage! Leading them was a handsome brown-hairred man.
"Lieutenant Neil Parkers!" Kailash gasped.
The Mythronians rushed into the battle. Kailash knocked the archer down and Brick slashed at the lieutenant.
Captain Santos kept an eye on the Mythronian ship. A soldier raised his axe to cut the captain down!
Kailash grabbed the man's shoulders and pulled him down. "Ugh! Ca-eck!" the soldier croaked.
As she rolled off of him, her helmet clattered to the sand.
Kailash soon rejoined the fray. The battle raged on. A Mythronian sliced a man to the left of Kailash in half. She shuddered.
"Kailash?!" the lieutenant stammered.
"Men, to me!!" he cried. They clammered into their boat and paddled away as fast as they could.
"Hahaha! Just watch them go!" Brick crowed. Captain Santos pulled Kailash aside.
"I owe you my life. Me and my men ask that you join us. Our loyalty to Rainos has dissolved because of our relative's death. I don't appreciate that you didn't tell us you were a woman, however," he exclaimed.
Kailash chuckled. "I'll be honest with you now!"
"She's quite a girl, isn't she Benjamin?" Ander nudged Brick with his elbow.
"Yeah, I gotta admit, you're right!" Brick grinned.
Back in the cabin of the ship, Ander declared, "I heard you are accompanying Captain Santos, his band, and us back to Mythron."
"Yes. I've found a place among you," she replied.
"Good. 'Cause were on another mission!"
Nice story! I also like the telescope pics! If you notice, you have been invited to a large contest called Bricathon. I think judging by this LoM MOC, you'll probably like the first round! (starts tomorrow) I want to have at least 50 people. And just my luck, with Brickathon starting tomorrow, we have 49. -_-
