Bionicle MOCing Challenge 2013 Round 1: Garan - Former Leader of the Voya Resistance [WIP]
"We may be doomed to fall, but before we do, we'll give our enemies reason to regret the day they set foot here."
About this creation

Matoran Garan.

Toa Garan, of courageous heart and powerful mind. United we rise; united we fall. It isn't a matter of winning or losing; it is a matter of trust.

Design detail - This creation is my first build to use the Exoforce fingers. It was by the generosity of a dear friend that I obtained these parts.

Design detail - Upon defeating an Oohnorak which nearly took his life, Garan crafted its carapace into a remarkably durable gauntlet. Little did he know that residual Hordika venom within the shell would fuse it to his being.

Toa Garan's pulse greatsword. It can fire powerful pulse orbs which grow in size and power the further they travel.

Turaga Garan, of great wisdom and unending valor. "Destiny" is a strange word. Although mine is "fulfilled," I cannot remain idle... We cannot remain idle.

The mutation carried over to his Turaga form; the carapace continues to act as an exceptional shield.

Turaga Garan's pulse spear. Although it is far less powerful than its previous form, it still serves Garan well.

Design detail - The ridged collar and chest is shared between his forms.

Design detail - Garan's sword and staff share a motif. The spike in the center of one of Matoran Garan's pulse generators had increased in size to form the center blade of his greatsword, while his second pulse generator became the pommel. With the staff, the blade has returned to a form similar to Garan's original pulse generators; however, the pommel of the sword became the two prongs just beneath the blade.

Mask swap.

Another mask closeup.

Without his mask.

With a silver Pakari Nuva.

With his Matoran mask, Powerless Ruru.

Turaga form without his mask. Despite popular opinion, I absolutely love the Metru head design.

With his old Kanohi. Design detail - Rarely do the various forms of a Bionicle character share the same mask, so I chose the to give Garan's toa and turaga forms masks different from that of his matoran form. I chose his masks based on a reverse chronology of their appearance in Onu-toa sets. Seeing that the Ruru appeared the latest (of the three), I gave his toa form the Pakari Nuva and his turaga form the Noble Pakari.

Despite his small stature, he still possesses remarkable strength.

Incapacitating a Visorak - As a matoran, Garan believed a toa would never take a life unless absolutely necessary. This ideal continues to hold true.

Thank you for viewing; I hope you enjoyed it.

Really nice work here. Both builds have great quality. I particularly like the chest build of the toa. The legs are a little odd, but the overall aesthetic is quite good. The Turaga also looks nice, overall I really don't see any flaws in it. Scores: Quality: 11 Creativity:4 Adherence: 4 Overall: 19/25.

Quoting Mohamed Marei One of the better entries in this contest, I'll tell you that. I like the piece usage, especially what you have going on at the feet. The Turaga though, while looks mostly nice, could've benefited from more armor on the legs. Q/C/A:11/4/4. Total: 19/25. Very well done.
Thank you for the compliments and constructive criticism, although I have to disagree with the criticism regarding the Turaga's legs.
