You know... Leo, Scorpio, Gemini and so on. Choose any ONE of the 12 Zodiac signs and build a moc incoorporating that ONE sign into it. (in case you haven't noticed, you're only allowed to choose ONE of the twelve signs). No size limits.
I chose Libra.
A weary scholar arrives at his destination after a long journey - the Shrine of Equality. An ancient structure nestled deep in a maze of subalpine plateaus, the shrine has stood for centuries, protected by a mysterious force no man understands. It contains a set of scales predating even the building which houses it. Visiting this picturesque building is mandatory for students of law.
3/4 shot. Considering the amount of time I spent on this (2-3 hours), I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.
Close-up of stream. This was my first experiment in more elaborate water techniques, like putting trans-blue studs underneath trans-clear plates.
Bird's eye. I tried to keep the build primarily composed of white, green, and gray for a more artistic feel.
Close-up of the obligatory sign of Libra. Maybe not so obligatory, considering how few people have the zodiac signs in their entries...
Right side of the MOC. Grass has been trimmed away from windows to allow for maximum square footage of breathtaking views.
Back. The two pillars to the sides aren't actually connected to the rest of the shrine, which makes them slightly off-center.
Left side. Pretty much the same as the right expect no stream.
Front without fig. I originally wanted to make the shrine, the focus of the build, centered, but my wanting to do more in rockwork and water moved it to the left.
Fig view, looking in from doorway. I'm really pleased with the way the scales turned out, I just might have to use that technique again.
Full interior. Basically the same as the last shot expect I removed the doorframe for a clearer view.
Bird's eye of interior. Yeah, floors aren't my strong point...although I am pleased with the torches.
Closing random shot. Note the minfig's frying pan; every self-respecting traveler needs one of those, right?
And the minfig by himself. I really like this guy. Like, a lot.
This is the first time I've built anything decent in a while. This is probably my best build to date and I hope to keep building things as nice as this. And, as you may have guessed just by seeing this post, my tech issues are officially resolved so I will be trying to squeeze in episodes of The Cult with my spare time. Don't forget to C&C!
