.... my entry for the 2013 MOC Olympics Round 1 ....
About this creation

Round 1 Category:

"The 12 Signs of the Zodiac."

You know... Leo, Scorpio, Gemini and so on. Choose any ONE of the 12 Zodiac signs and build a moc incorporating that ONE sign into it. (in case you haven't noticed, you're only allowed to choose ONE of the twelve signs). No size limits.

My Entry: Leo's Temple

Like Leo only the most loyal, proud, strong, pure of heart and faithful warriors may gain access to his temple! First they have to get by the temple's oversized defender and face the light of the sun! Are you Lion enough?

Builders Notes: This MOC was built with the following concepts of Leo in mind:
1) The statue on top of the temple is indicative of the sand drawing of Simba from the Lion King.
2) The Giant Lion Guardian is quite simply a proud strong faithful lion.
3) The round aperture is indicative of the lions eye or the sun!
4) If you look closely the entire temple is shaped like a thrown indicative of the Lion being king of the jungle.
5) And of course I am a Leo!

Judges and all hope you like my offering for this Round. Good luck to all!

The simple but elegant architecture of the temple is emphasized by your lights'effects: a "brilliant" idea... :) The work on both leos is stunning.

How could someone have thrown such a masterpiece!!!! (Check your intro (builder's notes section in particular)). Anyway, it looks amazing as always.

Excellent job Chris, but I don't see the photos of the robot-mode? Just kidding! I love the little 'simba' atop the temple and the whole look of the temple as a throne is yet another neat idea. As others have mentioned, the clever use of lighting really helps sell this. Great job and good luck.

trying to showcase the build - IMO a plate with landscape underneath may detract from the piece!
Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist I meant not like a landscape, but more of a black disk that could then have white or lit up points as stars.

Leo is a constellation in space - floating - no base required?
Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist I really like both the elegance of the build and the lighting. You'd have benefited from a brick-built base, but this is really quite good.

Quoting Topsy Creatori (StoveTopCreator!) Oh, Iím going to have to have some fun with this! You see, Iím married to a Leo and therefore know all about Leos! How typical of a Leo to build a temple honoring Leo as a god! And perhaps you are meaning this Ďgodí being honored is none other than Chris Roach! Hee, hee! Anyhoo, it is a build that has done its Leo builder proud! Your lighting has made for great presentation shots too! :)
