About this creation
2013 MocOlympics

Category: "The 12 Signs of the Zodiac."

You know... Leo, Scorpio, Gemini and so on. Choose any ONE of the 12 Zodiac signs and build a moc incoorporating that ONE sign into it. (in case you haven't noticed, you're only allowed to choose ONE of the twelve signs). No size limits.

We were nearly home. Nearly home after a quest to the far reaches of Europe and Africa. With us, the treasure that had entered our possession east of Babylon. I presumed even Apollo himself was jealous. As we were setting up camp on a hilltop overlooking Athens, Apollo exacted his vengeance. We lifted our heads to the sky above Athens and witnessed the brilliance of the constellation, Leo, and in a moment, we realized that all the splendor in the earthly realm could never match the magnificence of the heavens- something we could never obtain no matter how far we traveled...

I slightly darkened the photos, but other than that, nothing else in the pictures is modified. To color the starlight I put flashlights in tinted plastic cups behind the holes. To prevent the light from shining between the minute cracks between the rest of the black bricks, I taped a piece of black paper to the back of the "night sky," then poked holes in the paper where the technic bricks (stars) were. Nothing like a little bit of ingenuity, eh?

The constellation Leo.

Constellation Leo Reference Picture

Well, that's about it! Oh, wait, did I forget to mention this?...

Temples, Agora, houses, trees...

...all built in the shape of Leo's paw. WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?!?!

Okay, so do you get where this is heading?...

Cue "2001: A Space Odyssey"

You seeing things again? You gotta lay off the stuff, man.

Great forced perspective. -LB Jr.

It was an excellent entry with just the main forced perspective view and a mixture of scales but the lions head and paw are very clever - that kind of thinking goes a long way in this contest. Great stuff and good luck.

A great concept and build. I really enjoyed seeing all the hidden details, it's obvious that you gave a lot of though to this. The use of flowers and the toothed 1x1 plates in the micro buildings are brilliant, and I like how you used technic holed pieces and treads to add to the photographic presentation. The paw design is cool and adds depth to the main photo, but the lion head is absolutely authentic. Really, really well done.

Ok, thanks! I'm changing it a bit, just so that there is no problems. Court? I have a reputation of out-talking anyone I want to! ;) Oh, the lion's head is incredible! My jaw dropped as well.

Wow, very excellent work. This is creative throughout and a very unique take on the category without a doubt. The mini Greek buildings are stellar, (cool use of tank treads) and I especially love the use of the rotating 2x2 base pieces as a water feature. The angles, texture, and coloring of the lion's head are also great. Epic!

Quoting Mark McPeek WOW! This is incredible! Terrific work on the houses and temple. They blew my mind! (literally) Hey, just so you know, I'm building exactly the same thing. I choose the same constellation, and I built a micro-scale Athens. Yours is much better, but are you okay if I finish mine? I did NOT copy you.
Go for it! And if it ends up being too much like mine, my Dad's a lawyer, so the court case shouldn't take up too much of you're time. :P

Wow! At first I was thinking, "nice build, but it's just a FP MOC with the constellation in the back ground." But then.... Wow! Awesome creativity man, this should fetch you a decent score! And come to think of it, I should probably start on my entry...

That just blew my mind man! I did a classic cartoonlike double take when I reached the final pic. You're very clever.

Holy..... This is incredible! At first I was like, "Okay, I'll give it to you on the constellations." Then I was like, "Woah, the city is a paw? What's he up to now?" Then I saw the lion head in the ground and was like "Oh no he didn't!" Fantastic work, man! I can tell you put a lot of thought and effort into It :)
