A racing scene from the 1950s, complete with the smell of Castrol R wafting across it...
About this creation

Ecurie Ecosse were a successful privateer racing outfit, most famous for winning Le Mans with their customer Jaguar D Types in 1958 (I think)

Built for Classic Race Teams.

This set-up was displayed at the Great Western Lego Show in Swindon, UK, on 5th-6th October 2013.

Health and Safety Notice : It is NOT wise to work under a car supported only on a jack, as here, lest you suffer the somewhat painful 'Pancake Head Effect'...

The two cars are almost identical, apart from the rear fin on one of them - a later refinement that helped with stability at high speed. They both have a straight six engine driven through a forward/reverse transmission, working steering and suspension.

The very large and heavy transporter. A one-off body on a Commer chassis, this distinctive vehicle has recently been brought back to life and restored.

The model features working steering, an electric ramp at the rear, and a fully authentic (and thus somewhat bulky) 3 cylinder, 6 piston 2-stroke Boxer engine. This is why the floor of the living quarters is too high. Doesn't matter, 'cos it makes a unique noise when it's pushed along...

A Classic Race Teams get-together at my house: At the rear, DeTomaso Pantera's Porsche Racing and JPS Lotus transporters. Front, L to R, mine, Ape Fight's Scuderia Ferrari and MortalSwordsman's Alan Mann Racing transporters. We'd have loved to have all these at the show but real life gets in the way sometimes (get well soon, Ape and sort that house out Joe!)

A very curvy shape from lots of little square bits.

Thanks for stopping by!

Quoting Joost Cumps I just read the team vehicles are sold. Pitty that the whole collection is split up, but was worth 10MIO €! The truck itself was sold fo 1?8MIOŁ !!! And then they didn't even know the existence of the Lego ones :-) this is the link (in Dutch, sorry) to the article: http://www.autozone.be/auto-nieuws/ecurie-ecosse-brengt-meer-dan-%e2%82%ac-10-miljoen-op/artikel-2501366.html?utm_source=hln&utm_medium=teaserHP&utm_campaign=AZauto55
Thanks Joost. It's a pity they're split up, but that is a huge price, even though it is a unique vehicle.

The display of all the teams is a pleasure to watch and a great tribute to each builder. As usual (and as it is another challenge), you succeeded to come out with an impressive complete build. Funny to see you working with blue bricks...

Quoting David Alexander Smith The cars are great as only you can make them, and the figures, now they are wonderful. BTW I was up at Brooklands earlier in the week with the kids and got some inspiration to maybe try my hand at some vehicle building.

Pancake head?!? That's gonna leave a mark. Love it, absolutely 100% love it. The shaping on the Jags is phenomenal. And, of course, the driver looks like he is properly concentrating on the race at hand. Either that or he's wondering if he left the iron on. Hmmm. Could be wondering if he filled out the life insurance policy. Any accident was always fatal. Stunning Nick!

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Lovely work Nick, shame the home page is playing up again. The figures with their slightly oversized heads are fantastic. And as Topsy says the tarp and tool box are lovely touches. As you know I have been planning a similar post but real life always gets in the way (as you said). I have joined Brickish (Yay!) but not enquired about displaying. Have you got a table? I would imagine you will need about 3 or 4 tables ;). Will try and send you an email tonight. It would be lovely to see all our mocs together again, and of course have a few beers!
Hi Joe. I have one long table, would love to get another one with your stuff on it! Hope to see you soon :-)
