About this creation

I've wanted to build a sea serpent for months now, and the Legends of Brickdom Global Adventure Challenge gave me a good excuse to do so. Unfortunately, I'm a supreme procrastinator so I built this whole thing in three very intense days. Still, it turned out better that I expected, and is likely one of my favourite creations I've done.

This boat was a quick, semi Asian inspired build. Jabba's sail barge's sails were fun to work with.

The sea serpent. A real pain to build, but so cool to see come to life. (Figuratively...)

The head posed a challenge as I'd used 99% of my brown plates on the body... Thanks to a super large Bricklink order I'd received a couple weeks ago I still had tons of great pieces to play around with.

I've been wanting to use 2x2 round tiles as scales for almost a year, and they really do work well.

Striking cobra!

The serpent was a fun sculpt. I'm no Shifio Factory, but I think it turned out nicely.

Thanks for stopping by!

There are so many great techniques in this. I particularly enjoy the use of 2x2 round tiles for the scales on the underbelly. They look great. It's also really impressive that the whole thing manages to hold itself up. Great work!

Epic!! That serpent is so well done, indeed the 2x2 round tiles work great as scales. The lime- and the sand-stripe gives it a real snake-like camouflage and the use of long tooth-elements on the head brings home the sea-habitat look of the serpent:-)

Great job. The shaping on the serpent is excellent, and the ship is quite well done to match. The one thing I don't like is the serpent's nose: it seems kinda rushed, and too prickly. Other than that, this is a MOC well deserving of a 5/5.

The simplicity of the ship combined with an artful boat shape, and the calmness of the water gives one a sense of false peacefulness, creating a perfect feeling of a surprise serpent attack, breaking the calm feel. The serpent is fabulous. Just how many round 2x2's did you use? Great work.

Holy cow Luke... you've had an explosion of both building speed and skill recently. I don't think I've ever seen a MOCer improve so rapidly. First Blast Off, then Hadrian's Wall, and now this beauty. If the style wasn't so distinct (that green-fire-shooting sorcerer reminds me of Ice Scorpion Attack especially) I might have had to agree with Ru--WHO MADE THIS!? Incredible work all around. Three days is a beyond insane time to build this in, but you pulled it off. The ship is very nice and the sculpting, scales, and head on the serpent are all stellar. What else can I say? Epic.

Quoting David Roberts Impressive in terms of its scale and shaping, the serpent is also quite life-like, with its curving spine. I like how you've skillfully managed the transition from plates to bricks in its head and the great shaping of the face. The use of round tiles, which are totally different to the rest of of the body gives that smooth belly, like the change that snakes have between their top and bottom halves. Well observed and impressive building!
