Status:

The Minotaur Devastation Engine is a walking scrap tank. It was created by the vengeful Ko-Matoran named Keros from various protodermic metal shards, weapons, servos, and more, found in the Fe-Rela scrapyards. This chaotic invention is a dangerous opponent, towering over most Toa, even standing over Astrav in his titan Kaita form. However, the MDE itself is not the only thing to watch out for- its wily pilot is not afraid to fight you on his own. And he's got a few tricks up his metaphorical sleeves...

According to my intel, some unknown thing has been on a rampage around here for the past week.
Yeah, we're still not sure what it is.

By the way, ERAD, do you know what -
Oh son of a CRUNCH
Seven point nine nine nine nine nine nine

Oh crap.

FACEOFF: ASTRAV vs KEROS

What... who the hell are you?

My name is Keros. I am the creator of the Minotaur Devastation Engine. And by my rage you will be destroyed!

[ insert immensely violent and exciting battle scene here ]

Ouch, my head...

That'll teach you to mess with a Kaita.

Now I'll take you back to my superiors to face your justice.

Alright, I'll take my chances with "justice"...

But first there's something you should know.

Just because you're a Toa... do not

underestimate a Matoran!

Ungh!

Haha, sucker!

Uuuugh...

Dammit, he got away...

... beep ... beep ... beep ... beep ...

Huh?

... beep ... beep ... beep
beep beep beep beep

Uh-oh.

[ insert explosion graphics here ]

Keros exiting/entering the MDE.

The pilot by himself.

This was an interesting one. I sat for about a week with no inspiration and no inclination to build. Then I took a look at round two, and got a sudden idea. How better to convey the idea of a machine than to build... another mech? This time a chaotic overarmored-and-overarmed evil-looking one, rather than something akin to the REDBOSS mech. I think it turned out pretty well. Maybe not enough to beat Infernum, though.
This is more posable than it looks, but there weren't many poses for me to put it in that could be photographed easily or looked great.

Good luck to Phos, DC, and Infy.

Quoting Stormjay Rider @Chro: Having ideas for an entry before the rules/guidelines are added. I do that all the time.
I don't think it's remotely close to cheating to say "I might revamp or build this character again eventually"...

This is an amazing Moc! I love that it is a suit and has that seperate pilot with it, 5 out of 5 would do more if I could! Great job!

Quoting The Traveler I'm going to assume this doesn't necessarily mean Astrav's dead.
Well I'm out of the contest... so he might be. Wait til next year. ;)

Quoting Chris Yee An elegant build from the hoof up as usual. The design, the poseability, are all top notch. The comical appearance of the diminutive pilot may be detracting from the overall creation, lessening the imposing nature somewhat, albeit intentional or otherwise. Despite your solid defense against peanut butter based methods of warfare, I will have to choose Infernum's. Because Peanut allergies are cool?
Thanks Chris. The pilot was definitely not intended to be comical. Peanut butter? Bah, whatever. Next year? Operation Chocolate Counterattack.

Quoting Toa Infernum Chro, it's been so much fun to compete against you. I consider you both one of my favorite builders and best friends online. So I just want to take a moment, while it's tied, to wish you good luck :)
Thanks! I wish you the same. :)

Quoting Monarth the Contrarian It's very interesting to see very different entries in this matchup, as far as size goes. Both entries look amazing, MDE goes to a great level of smoothness and detail with an exosuit and Behemoth is a monstrosity to be reckoned with, with very nice head details. I really love both entries and making a decision in this case is very hard due to reasons that take too long to explain, but... As far as the category goes, my vote will have to go to Toa Infernum by a hair for his more imposing moc.
Thanks for the feedback, Monarth. I understand siding with size here.

Quoting Clever Crowe Chro, this MOC was just a personal favorite of mine, perhaps even for the 'Cup thus far. I was quite impressed by a figure still retaining limb flexibility, while having THAT much bulk. Proportionally, the frame and limbs suggest powerfully 'muscular' shapes (especially the legs). I loved the integrated shouldercannons/reverse-thrusters, the asymmetrical arm weaponry assignments (even the narrative humor). Real Tower-Of-Power look to this mech, and so much for me to like, style-wise. 5/5, (and I must note I thought your opponent's worthy of this as well), but this one wins my R5 Semifinals Vote, for an elegant solution to overall form and frame. Cheers!~
Thank you, Crowe, for both the feedback and the vote. :)

Dang, man! At first it looked hopelessly cumbersome, but you never cease to amaze, it seems. The Matoran design and the way he gets into the mech are pretty cool, also. I'm going to assume this doesn't necessarily mean Astrav's dead.

Very nice. Looks robotic, while still keeping some curvier, maybe even more organic, lines. I wasn't so sure about it holding a pilot at first, rather than being purely mechanical, but I think in the end it works, and is a nice, subtle twist to the theme, in a way. Build-wise, it does get a bit messy on some parts, though, specially the arms, but overall, its a pretty good design, solid, and for that my vote goes to you. PS: Wy don't we get any decent back shots? Is it that bad?

Quoting Lego METAL Chro, the reason Yuri doesn't like it is because there's no waist articulation, I called it!
Neither does Infy's... in fact I don't think his has any torso articulation at all, because if it did it would fall apart, since it's using a stand to stay up anyway. XD

Quoting Yuri Fassio Both are great MOCs, but I must say I'm a bit disappointed by your approach to the theme. The description allowed for a wide range of whimsical, original interpretations, yet none of you managed to show us anything we didn't see a dozen times over.
It may be the fact that we didn't like the themes this year. At least I didn't.

I wasn't expecting a pilot, actually. Besides that... the model doesn't look very clean, specifically in terms of colors. I could understand that from a scrapheap perspective (and if you were running low on parts, then I can see why you did that).

Wow. talk about an amazing MOC. I love the suit. The hugeness of it perfectly contrasts the pilot's stature. 5/5 On a side note, I remember you starting out on MOCPages. You've really improved.

I already rated...but FIVE not four :P Anywho it's really awesome! Love the bulky aspect and the fact matoran/midget is riding it :P Great Work Chro! :)

Nice one! Love the song too! I really like the shaping and the idea of the mech suit is very cool. Nice updates on Astrav, and I really like the pilot. I really dislike the color scheme though, I wish there were less colors, the black, gunmetal, white, orange, and brown make it look too chaotic for my taste. I think leaving out two (or one) of the last three colors I mentioned would help. Very nice build though. I like the little twist at the end of the story, and the battle scenes imagined were very cool. :P. Anyway, good luck! And are the links necessary for the contest?
