Behemoth: Mecha Dragon
My gargantuan entry to the fifth round of the Biocup 2013!
About this creation

Tallix: Ugh...

Tallix: Wha...? How'd I get here? The platform I was on must have collapsed... but what would weigh enough to make it cave in?! Oh, no!!

Tallix wasn't the only one mutated! One of the scientist's "experiments" was mutated too! Now Tallic is faced by a mechanical killing machine!

Tallix is in trouble!

He makes a desperate leap for his gunshield...

And opens fire straight into the mechanical monster's face!

The beast roars in pain...

Then lets out a magnetic blast!

Tallix's gunshield is torn from his hand!

It is pulled to the beast!

But the blast also found Tallix's lost blade! It goes speeding towards him...

And buries itself in it's shoulder!

Tallix stands back up!

He runs to take advantage of the distraction!

But slips on a random giant spoon of peanut-butter!

And lands flat on his face...

The beast raises his claw for the final strike...

When suddenly the giant spoon of peanut-butter ricochets of a wall and hits the monster!

Then the monster suddenly dies because all giant monsters are allergic to peanut-butter.

Tallix stands up...

Stares at the beast...

Does a fist pump...

Retrieves his sword...

And triumphantly puts his leg on the beast. He is victorious!

Hope you liked the story! Now for some detail shots!

leg.

Spines. <3

Rear view!

Love the spine so much.

His mouth opens.

Shoulder blade! XD.

Creator's Comments:
Well, this took awhile. My biggest MOC ever! I love the way he turned out! He does have a stand, but he doesn't need it. It helps for some poses, but for some it just makes them tougher. So it's in some pics, but not others. Anyway, hope you like my masterpiece! I'm just glad my collection help up. Lots of balljoints. I love the story. My dog does too (he got the peanut-butter). XD

Good luck to Chro, and the other competitors! This contest has pushed my limits and created some of my best work!

Hope you enjoyed! :D

Quoting [ Chro ] Yeah, peanut butter is apparently literally for the win. If you haven't, check Chris Yee's comment on the MDE- that's the only reason he gave. :P

Quoting Chris Yee A beat of epic proportions. The head is very well designed and holds a definitive shape that is truly monstrous. The rest of the body does leave much to be desired, as there are a few areas where the musculature shaping goes in different directions to where the eye wants to. The spine details are an interesting use of the foot. I may have made use of those holes to add more detail upon them so as not to make them appear so hollow. They do give something organic to look at. Comparing the two, I will have to say yours falls in line with a mechanical beastie, so you have mine.
Thanks Chris! :)

Quoting Johann Dakitsch Now this is nice. Very good head and quite the impressive size. Once you get past that, though, limbs look quite rushed, specially the back legs, wich are just odd (I do know, though, how difficult legs can be at such scale, so kudos to make it actually stand... somewhat). Not a big fan of the upside down hero feet on the spine as well, and overall its structure looks a bit jumbled, if not even flimsy at some points. Still pretty impressive one, and I like that you went with a different route for a robot. Still, my vote goes to your opponent, for a more well-resolved design.
Thanks! I actually really love the spines. It's all tied up again... :)

Quoting Monarth the Contrarian It's very interesting to see very different entries in this matchup, as far as size goes. Both entries look amazing, MDE goes to a great level of smoothness and detail with an exosuit and Behemoth is a monstrosity to be reckoned with, with very nice head details. I really love both entries and making a decision in this case is very hard due to reasons that take too long to explain, but... As far as the category goes, my vote will have to go to Toa Infernum by a hair for his more imposing moc.
Thanks Monarth!

Quoting Clever Crowe For this pair of faceoffs, I was personally torn - one, each, gravitated towards some areas of personal bias: giants and muscleMOCs (with a little flair from each). Tough to decide upon one over the other, when I'm partial to both. So; this monster, possessing great size and aggressive features (true to the creature it was based on, thematically) is a nice accomplishment - including consideration on how difficult it CAN be to build on that Scale. I appreciated the details, but the patterning, especially along the dorsal side, got so visually texture-tangled it became tough to make out and distinguish some anatomy (it was even hard for me to pick out the Hero's sword in that feature pic of the battle scene - it just blended away). As a jagged, titanic beast, though - that fits, and can't really be said to detract. Visual chaos aside - I liked the use of those feet as dorsal scales, but didn't understand why you turned them in that direction (cupped bottom, forewards), and they seem to tip forward involuntarily a bit. Amazing work on the facial details and plating, from the Styracosaur-style mane-crest to the hip armoring - there's alot to like, but being forced to judge between the two means splitting even the finest of hairs, occasionally. Chro's MOC has some good size and bulk to each limb, but the joinery for all parts looks a bit more planned, each area of plating still managing to flow fairly smoothly into the next - in the end, this difference won out for me, and I must vote for your opponent. Still a MOC that deserves high praise, and again, one right up my alley, style-wise. Still worth a 5/5 on a personal Rating. Cheers!~
Wow! Thanks for the long, thoughtful comment, even if it didn't come with a vote. I was hoping, since I had to use lots of small bit, it would have an effect similar to the Jaegers from Pacific Rim. Thanks! And it's all tied up... ;)

Quoting Yuri Fassio Both are great MOCs, but I must say I'm a bit disappointed by your approach to the theme. The description allowed for a wide range of whimsical, original interpretations, yet none of you managed to show us anything we didn't see a dozen times over. Both are incredibly well built, but for once I'm going to side with size and vote for Toa Infernum's Dragon.
Sorry we didn't show what you hoped, but thanks for the vote!

Quoting Gilbert Despathens The head and the crest are amazing. My eyes kind of get lost on big Bionicle MOCs because all of the greebles blend together, but you managed to keep that big, fangy face distinct. I like the way you curved the teeth into shape, but the system support is a detractor.
Thanks Gilbert!

Aaah, see this suffers the same ailments that plague all enormous bonkle builds: It looks like utter crap compared to anything smaller than it. That being said, it's really cool. The whole MechaBeast trope is QUITE overplayed though. I dunno, if it were me, I wouldn't have done something so cliche, in regards to you and Chro. However, that doesn't make it a bad moc. I just think that it lacks imagination. I mean, conceptually speaking, how hard is it to think up ROBOT MONSTER GARGAAAAHAHHAHA? It's just a superficial matter, but that sort of thing really irks me. Moc looks great(for it's size), good luck to you and Chro both.

Quoting Gwain Hammerstad This build was so random.....it reminded me of a Pokemon battle (It's super effective!). 0.o But this was a excellent bionicle build. Even though it "may look messy" (according to Pho), it's still awesome. Great job! 5/5

Quoting [ Chro ] Well in the last section of the page, just displaying the MOC, not in any pose or anything, there's clearly a system support there. Just sayin'. ;)
Yeah, weight was my biggest issue with this guy. I like the shaping (would've added a tail if I had time). I CAN get him to stand without the stand (just takes longer), but it was hot outside, and I hadn't eaten breakfast. So I decided the stand would be quicker, and as such, result in quicker inhalation of food. ;D

Quoting [ Chro ] The head and torso are awesome. The limbs, however, are weirdly saggy and strangely jointed, lacking sufficiect armor on the rear legs especially. Also, he can't stand up, eh? That's a big issue. All of that said, it'll still probably be enough to beat me. :P
