Challenge: Regional Challenge: Persuasion
Three weeks passed while Vemados and the blacksmith, whose name turned out to be Radim (Which means happy, peaceful), travelled up Rainos to Radim's house. On the way a stray dog which Vemados named Lyel (faithful) joined them and turned out to be useful for carrying gold! The three bonded together and the blacksmith stayed true to his word.
Finally the three reached the blacksmith's home town.
Guard 1: Sometimes I wish there was more action round here.
Guard 2: I know, standing here and looking for anything suspicious is so boring; I wouldn't be surprised if someone had already slipped past
Guard 1: Hey is that the blacksmith overthere?
Guard 2: Maybe but he's been away for ages and this man looks too ragged to be him.
Vemados: Gee this is posh for Rainos, with all these stone walls and all.
Radim: Well you'd be surprise by what you find in all the alleyways. They tidied this place up hoping for it to be a nice place to live for the more wealthy inhabitants, but they ran out of money and could only decorate the exterior.
As the two men and their dog walked round the corner to approach Radim's house, they noticed a guard standing infront.
Vemados: I'll be darned if that's not an outlaw!
Radim: What's he doing on my property! We'd better take the rear entrance
Vemados: I didn't see one...
Vemados and Radim walk through a wooden gate into one of the unfinished alleys that Radim was talking about.
Radim: I keep a small stock of weapons round here. I'll take the crossbow, you take the swords.
The sounds of splintering wood echoed in the alley.
Vemados: Sounds like they're knocking on your door
Radim: More like knocking it down...
The two sneak round the carts and Radim takes aim.
Radim: I haven't fired one of these in yonks!
There are 4 outlaws in the yard including the guard at the front. Radim takes aim at the one trying to knock down the door. After what seemed an age, he fired.
There was a few seconds of confusion before the words
"Kill them!" were shouted by the outlaw's leader.
Two of his men approached Vemados
Vemados: You get the guards - and be quick!
The men launched their attack on Vemados. The swiped furiously and Vemados could only dodge and block their attacks.
Suddenly one of the men launched a sudden attack that Vemados was only just able to block. He fell to the ground and the man pinned him down.
Outlaw: You get the other one.
One of the men ran off in pursuit of Radim.
Outlaw: You fight well for such a young man. However your time has come. Say goodbye
The outlaw raised his sword ready for the kill. Vemados turned away. How could he die so quickly and quietly?
He gulped. He sweated and he shook.
The outlaw took one last grin, before he fell to the ground with an arrow deep in his chest.
Radim: Sorry about the delay, this fella came along and tried to kill us.
Outlaw leader: No! How could this happen? Guard fight them!
The guard moves in sweating like a pig while the outlaw leader legs it.
Outlaw leader: This isn't the last you'll see of me!
The two town guards move in towards the shaking guard who falls to his knees.
Outlaw guard: Please dd on't k-kill me. I wwill leave im immediately and never g-go back to h him.
Vemados: Leave him, he means no harm. Run away and live quietly in the mountains.
The guard gets up and runs.
Radim: That was a great shot!
Town guard: Thanks! Although we did let that outlaw get away. We'll lose our jobs for that...
Vemados: Well then, join us!
Town guard: What are you doing then?
Radim: Ask him, I have no idea myself. He kidnapped me
Vemados: You're not helping here. I started as a street urchin and I want to be someone. I enlisted Radim to help me and I'm asking you to help me and to be someone other than a town guard, standing there and watching - it must be boring! Besides which, you lost your job. So join me! Be someone! What do you say?
Town guard 1: I'm in if you're in.
Town guard 2: I sure am!
Vemados and Radim: Great!
Town Guard 1: I'm Deimos and this is my twin brother Phobos.
Radim: Let's prepare the carts. Load them with money and weapons, say goodbye to families and buy food. We leave at daybreak tomorrow and we'll go to the coastal town of Hythe. There's talk of a Mythronian outpost in the area. That'll get us some fame and money! If we get enough men there's an opportunity to go to Mythron on a boat there too!
I think this MOC turned out great! I bought a couple of the forest ambush sets for minifigs in the future and did a load of character designing for all the minifigs in this MOC. The Blacksmith's house was inspired by the set: The Blacksmith's House which I have. I didn't copy it - I made the whole thing, I just took inspiration from it. I hope you enjoyed this MOC! It was definitely one of the most fun to make! Here are some features:
The Blacksmith's house includes:
- Completely tiled floor (my first attempt at doing so)
- A bed
- Wine cask
- Table with glass and pan
The Forge (which is the outbuilding) includes:
- A light up furnace
- Hooks for holding up weapons and the metal before it is crafted (see picture)
- An anvil with hammer
The Blacksmith's land includes:
- An alley with scrap wood and a wooden door
- Two carts
- A covered shed
- Paved path to the road and to the alley
- Hidden chest with loads of treasure
- Boxes with shields and tools
- SNOT ladder
- a stream that runs through the garden and under the road outside the house
- A large tree (It turned out quite well in my opinion :) )
- Other shrubs and plants
The Rest of the MOC includes:
- Roads around the house
- A road into the town with parapets
- Lots of dogs and custom minifigs!
- An orchard with apples (It was an afterthought) - It's detached from the main MOC
I used my green baseplate that I bought recently and built the house on there. Originally it was just the house but as I thought about making the story more, I built the alley way and then the roads :)
Sorry took a while to get to the persuasion bit but I wanted to continue the story :)
