The Flying Tank
This was made for Christian Bish, but it turned out really good, so I'm uploading it myself.
About this creation
Mi-54 Oleni
Type: Heavy VTOL aircraft
Place of origin: Banner of the mighty Tongorian union Tongorian Union

Service history
Used by: Air-force of the Tongorian Union

Production history
Designer: Tongorian Aviation Desgin Bureau
Produced: begins in 2704
Specifications
Crew: 1, up to 6 passengers
Armor: carbon nanotubes
Main armament: 1 30mm coilgun linke to the pilot's helmet, 8 ATGMs, 2 80mm missile pods
Seconary armament: 2 40mm grenae launcher
Engine: 2 jet engines, 4 nacelles

First let’s get an all around view. After that we get into the details.

A close up on the passenger container. Soldiers can access a 40mm grenade launcher through the side windows. The wing armament is also visible here, 4 ATGM and the guided 80mm missile launcher.

The Oleni has VTOL capabilities, it is achieved by 4 nacelles.

The rear nacelle has a bigger place to move.

Thanks to its modular structure, it can carry a wide variety of cargo, troops being one.

The cockpit is actually my favorite thing on this bird. It has an adjustable seat, stick, throttle control, ejector seat handle, plenty of gauges and a windshield wiper.

Landing gear down, nacelles vertical, door open, troops are now ready to get in.

Looks menacing with all that weaponry

The passenger container can carry 6 personnel and extra magazines for the 2 40mm GLs.

Mi-54 High resolution pic of the render, cuz everyone loves eyecandy.

Thanks for viewing and thank you Chris for inspiring me to build this.

All I can think of is the Bug Stomper from Aliens, Valkyrie from Warhammer 40k, and the Pelican. All where inspired by the Bug Stomper from Aliens. Awesome build man! FYI: Do you mind that I build one (with some personal customs of course) and make it into a rival counterpart?

WOW!! Excellent aircraft. The design is very realistic and the VSTOL capabilities are well achieved with the nacelles. The carried ordnance is fearful!! I wish Lego designed a better windscreen. The cargo bay is just excellent too. A good mix between a big Mil Mi 24 and the Star Wars Assault gunship.

I really like this, especially the fact that it's actually buildable in real bricks(unlike many LDD things I've seen.) All the weaponry is nice, and you did a good job on the tail fins!

Quoting Ron L. Mitchell Looks like a cross between a Hind helicopter, a modified A-10 and a landing craft from a great sci-fi movie -- I love this! 10/5 from me!
It was completely built from scratch. However, you are right about the Hind, its name also implies it. Oleni is russian for deer.

Quoting Gabor Pauler However it would look better as coaxial helicopter, as the 4 nacelles are little bit undersized.
Each nacelle is 4 times bigger than the one on the Harrier amd this was made for a semi-futuristic group. So it shouldn't be undersized. It will stay as it is, it was made after a really nice conceptart and for a friend's request.

Very stylish build, also very innovative with the portable passenger container. However it would look better as coaxial helicopter, as the 4 nacelles are little bit undersized.

This is really awesome. The cargo bay is pretty sweet and the way you made the gun stick out of the window is cool too. And thanks for posting this, I don't really check stuff on Flickr as much as I do here :D

Quoting Michael Rutherford am I wrong in seeing some genetic influence from the Kamov Ka-50 as well?
I love russian technology, so it might influenced it in some way. Don't worry, I have real creations on their way (8 to be exact) which are at the same quality or even better than my LDD builds.

There is nothing on this bird that I don't love! The boxy engines look like they could take a pounding and still deliver the hurt. The overall design reminds me of the drop ship from Aliens. Modular too! Outstanding!

Commander Sylvan. This is a thing of beauty. You really nailed the best parts of that source art but am I wrong in seeing some genetic influence from the Kamov Ka-50 as well? I would love to see this thing in brick, and on a landing pad. Again, well done! Attack!

Great Gunship. I like how you made it a transport too, multi-role is always good. There's nothing I can really say is wrong with it. Excellent build.

Quoting jack kenyon also, mine uses rotors buried in wings instead of nozzles, but the concept is the same.
This was based on a conceptart Chris sent. That's why it looks like this. Btw, I have a better tank killer on its way already.

This is incredible, the level of detail is outstanding, especially in the cockpit. The weapons, layout and functionality make this a phenomenal tank killer, with troop capacity as well. I am planning a similar aircraft (have been for ages, haven't got round to it) but without the troop bay. also, mine uses rotors buried in wings instead of nozzles, but the concept is the same.

A super render of this impressive machine. I was a bit worried about how it would fly with all that weaponary on its wings, until you featured the VTOL nozzles. I like the idea of the modular cargo area and the cockpit details are great.
