F-90B Phoenix
Update of the F-90 fighter. I took the advice left in comments and changed a few things. Hope you guys like it as much as version 1. Please rate and comment.
About this creation
F-90B Phoenix specs:
Top Speed: Mach 4.5
Weight: 6.4
Armor: Titanium quatraborite , aluminum, carbon nano tubes, active camo, RAM, and 2x flare launchers
Primary Armament: 12x internal hardpoints (shown here with 6x Aim-40 Razorback AMRAMs and 6x Aim-14 Demon cluster AMRAMs)
Secondary Armament: Gau-60 25mm minigun and 2x external hard points (often removed as shown here)
Power Plant: 1x Pratt & Whitney F-190 Jet engine and 2x Pratt & Whitney F-270 ramjet engines
Combat Range: Classified (believed to be over 100,000 miles)
Crew: 1

The most obvious change is the lack of the wing mounted engines. They were removed since they did not serve the look of a fighter well.

The F-90B incorporates a new type of active camo, 246 paired low-intenisity lasers and reflection sensors feed the AI data so that it can decide when to hide. The lasers' beam reflects in a very distinctive way off of the aqueous humor of human eyes and camera lenses. The sensors detect this reflection and tell the AI which then make a judgement about whether or not to cloak.

I tried to make my own engines, but these best suited the VTOL mode. The engines are coated in a heat dissipating material called Cryotine. This brings the heat signature of the F-90B down to that of a bird.

Able to maintain its speed of mach 4.5 due to its new engines, the Pratt & Whitney F-270 ramjet engines are uniquely designed to compress air even at low speeds, this is done via a classified ultra-low frequency sound wave that condenses the air, allowing the ramjets to activate.

I'm working on a more elegant way to store the landing gear, but this was the most practical solution I came up with.

VTOL mode was obviously inspired by the F-35 Lightning II. All the power for the AI, sensory equipment, compressors, and engines is generated from a micro fusion reactor well hidden inside the F-90B. Classified ceramics hide the heat signature.

Landing gear deployed. It all flods up into the F-90B. A huge improvement over the method on the F/A-47, still not perfect, but I'm working on it.

The cockpit was outfitted with even more sensory equipment and move advanced targeting and AI systems. The AI connects with the pilots via non-invasive nervous synchronization. The AI and pilot are therefore connected an work in unity to fly the aircraft better than either could alone.

Minigun is still there. Only in extreme cases would this actually be used, but designers put it in from the beginning in case the situation arose in which it was needed.

The missiles fired from the F-90B connect with the AI to achieve an even more accurate shot, as well as determine where best to hit the targeted aircraft.

Air show paint job. Called the F-90BFD (F-90b Flight Demonstrator), it is used to show off the pride of the UTA's air force. The minigun and missile racks were removed to prevent any incidents.

This is the true version 1 of the F-90, the front half was a total fail. It looks like a whale and has less features.

I am currently amassing the parts to build this for real. I love the design and plan to build it in real bricks. I have no expected day to finish by, but it will take a while.

Thanks for viewing please rate and comment.

EDIT:
It made the home page. Not as glorious as other places, but this is good for me.

Nice! It would look amazing if it had pheonix-like colours in my opinion (such as red yellow and orange). :)

I like the VTOL features on this, as well as the thought you put into each part of the design. Also, who doesn't like reverse-swept wings? :)

Nice shaping, but the color transitions on the wings seem too blocky, perhaps use hinges for the dark grey bits instead of slopes.

Quoting jack kenyon This is fantastic! the additions are great, and really add to the model. the landing gear is good, and the details in the cockpits are great. from now on, just take a little extra time, and see what you can do!
Thanks, your advice on the older version was very helpful. I don't quite follow what you mean about extra time. Do you mean put more time into a model or what?
