The Self Preservation Society
Charlie Croker and co. solved their problem at the end of The Italian Job, and lent their bus to the CCCP...
About this creation

It's now the coastal patrol 'HoverBus' for sea defence. Without gold, which is a pity.

Decisive Action

SEA DEFENSIVE POWER

Anybody who saw a recent episode of 'Top Gear' will recognize the idea. The presenters' antics were woeful, but the machine was pretty good.

With a gun on top and done on a classic Bedford VAL14 coach, it's even better. Corporal Madison Pepperpig agrees.

The driver - Leutenant Alex Craftmine, since you ask (the real Alex is joining the Army; it seemed only right to promote him...) - has two jet engines to propel him on water, because race bus. And a big rudder.

It takes mere days to put it back to road trim...

The bus itself is 7 studs wide and features progressive rate working steering on the two front axles. Here's how to do it...

No seats in the back; more room for transporting our massive arsenal...

Doors that open. Doors do that.

The top comes off, to facilitate loading of weapons, Minis, whatever...

All aboard!

We have a coast to patrol!

All together now... 'This Is The Self Preservation Society...'

I'd join in but I'm not allowed to sing. Court order.

Just seen the progressive rate steering system and I don't know how I missed this. Thanks for the tip mate. Will probably give it a go in the new year and modify my breakdown truck. Cheers mate. Oh and congrats on the tiny tippers making TLCB, well deserved!

What better way to "self preserve"... building to your strengths in vehicle design! Then you went even further by topping it off with some humour and one of those older figs that have become your trademark! It served you well. You added your own touch of integrity and class to the DA games. Cheers! Good Luck in the MO! :)

Well, if you're interested in Top Gear, I guess all there is left is to drive your "French Hippie-car" behind a 747 jet engine. (If you haven't seen that episode, watch it. It's awesome)

Ha ha! A "sea-GreyHound"... Great concept! A brilliant alternative to visit either "La perfide albion" or "Ces maudits Français" without taking ferries. ;)

Glad to hear that those heavy gold bars have been removed. I hope that the weaponary can do more than just blowing the bl**dy doors off your enemy's ships.

I've been on holiday and only partially keeping up with everybody's builds. This just popped up and gave me a good chuckle. On a serious note, neat steering mechanism.

Now if you'd built the minis as well, I'd have given this 5 stars.... just kidding, this is brilliant. As usual. And is the colour a bit off or have you been investing in a lot of Friends sets?

Lovely boat/bus, but yikes! How much glassware did you shatter before the court order? Or did you just drive the neighborhood dogs into a frenzy of howling?

Well done General Barrett. Perhaps the best combination of littoral lethality and responsible public transportation I have ever seen. She prowls the waves, defending the citizen… and gets him to work in time for the first shift! With this much obvious overlap between the municipal and military sectors, I can’t imagine why people assume it is a “This OR That” type of world. Attack!

I saw this earlier and I waited because I couldn't think of anything to say but I have been laughing for hours :-) . It's so bazaar it's brilliant ! Love how you made the wheels turn and the roof lifts off . Awesome all you need now is a couple of Prius canoe escorts .

Quoting Ape Fight Lovely stuff : ) I like how you build what you really want to (the classic 6-wheel bus) and then make it fit the category with some cunning additions! Not really knowing about the competition (and it not really being my bag) I'm only here for the bus, and I'm glad I came : )
Thanks Ape. Yep, the bus came first :-)
