Your Father's Lightsaber
"Your father's lightsaber. This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster. An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age." - Obi-Wan Kenobi
About this creation

This is my entry for the 'Movie Screenshot' Two Week Challenge in The Contest Group

This is the scene in Star Wars: A New Hope where Luke receives his father's lightsaber from Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Below: Screenshot from the film...

Below: My version of the screenshot...

Above: The wider view of the screenshot (the main picture is the screenshot I am entering, as it is framed a bit tighter).

The rest of these pictures are with 'normal' lighting so that the MOC is a bit clearer.

I built this like a film set, rather than a full building. In a way, I guess that's more authentic as most of the film was shot on a sound stage somewhere in London.

You need to make that lightsaber 'zzzzsssshhhhuuum' sound as Luke moves the blade around. Go on, you know you want to.

WARNING: Do not aim at eyes or face!

C-3PO chilling out next to Obi-Wan's cluttered shelves.

Without minifigs...

A picture I found on Wookieepedia which helped with the layout. Obviously I had to simplify things a bit.

Now that you've got to the bottom, you might as well comment and rate.

Thanks guys. I thought the angle was ok, but the order of my pictures maybe didn't help, as the main picture was stuck up at the top, miles away from the reference pic.

Accuracy: 8 Everything was in the right place, good job. Build: 7 The build itself was good. Some good techniques, and I liked that rug. Presentation: 4 I thought the first picture looked great, and looked very close to the actual pic. The rest of the pics were clear, so great job! Total score: 19

Accuracy: 6.5. Angle is different which made it hard to judge, but everything seems to be there. Lighting is nice, though it could be a bit darker. Build: 6.5. Also very nice, excellent details throughout, even if it's a bit simple. Presentation: 4.5. Main picture should be a bit darker, everything else is great. Total of 17.5/25, nicely done.

Accuracy: 7 You have everything in the pic, all the minifigures, the house, ect. However the camera angle is slightly different and so I can't really tell whether or not some of the details in the house is missing. The lighting is a little brighter than the reference pic, but it's also darker than all the other pictures, so obviously you tried to put some effort into the lighting. Build: 7 Overall, the house looks pretty good. There's not very much techniques used in this, except for SNOT, mostly it was stacking bricks like a few of the other entries. It still looks a lot like the scene. Presentation: 4.5. A few of the pics were blurry, but not too much. Yu've got the link and I love the fact you've got the layout pic. Total: 18.5

Great looking screen shot. I always liked this scene were Ben gives Luke his fathers lightsaber . He just starts swinging it around its like giving an 8" chief knife to a 8 year old :-) . Awesome job!
