The oldest of the two St. Albert Grain Elevators built for my Grandfather, a history teacher.
About this creation
Hello again.

I thought I'd upload one of my latest MOCs, a Grain Elevator. In my area, there are five grain elevators, none of them operational anymore. The two biggest are located in Saint Albert, Alberta. My Grandfather, who was a history teacher, lives about 10 minutes from these elevators, so I decided to build him one for his birthday.

As I only had enough bricks to build one, I constructed the oldest of the two, built in 1906. Below are some pictures and information on grain elevators.

This elevator, knows as the Brackman Ker Elevator, was recently renovated to attract more visitors.

Another side view... Notice that the window is different than on the other side. It is "supposed" to be open.

An above view. Now an outdoor museum, it is operated by the Arts & Heritage Foundation of St. Albert. Guided tours of the Grain Elevators are available from May to September.

My favorite "window." It has been replaced with a glass one, but I liked the old one better...

The grain spout. There are actually two, but I only had enough pieces to build one.

And a view of the front again. Did you know that the first Grain Elevator was built in in Buffalo, New York, in 1843? The original elevator was designed by an engineer named Robert Dunbar.

A couple of my reference pictures. One day, when I own more bricks, I would like to build the whole park.

Well, thanks a lot for viewing!

I hope you enjoyed it and your feedback is much appreciated.

Have a great day!

~Mark

Beautiful! I hail from Ontario's capital, so all I get to see are buildings and smoke and cars. Nice to have a change in scenery once in a while, even if it's only through LEGO ;).

Thanks a lot everyone! Yeah, I know it's a bit plain. I didn't want to make decals. @Alex: Thanks! It is cool living near each other! :D
