Only using the pieces from Creator set 5867. My fourth alternative from this fantastic set.
About this creation
Opening doors and hood. Detailed interior with reclining seats and V8 engine.

I originally wanted to build an American Muscle car but it soon became apparant as I was building it looked more like a European supercar/tourer, so I present to you the GTO.

I think the front grille gives it a hint of a BMW 850 or even the M1.

I think this is my favourite alternative so far so I hope you like it too.

Since building this my wife bought me 'The Lego build-It Book' for my birthday. The book was created by the master builder Nathanael Kuipers. I must say it is a fantastic book full of expert tutorials, sophisticated techniques and instructions for 10 amazing vehicles all built from this one set. I would suggest anybody who likes Lego to buy this brilliant book: The Lego Build-It Book

The white replica is on line, with some thoughts about building all-white: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/389608

" I would love to see an all white version." I actually have a real 5867 set, got it for 2,50 euros in a garage sale! I was until that a pure Pat. Pending era collector (I'm 50yo) and the alternates of Nathanael were my crash course to modern Lego: I have actually reverse-engineered his 23 alternates (amazing experience). I will post a few pictures about building all white: you will see that it requires some adaptations. And yes, I can build your alternate in white, it will be a good example ;)

Quoting White Shapes Beautiful alternate, like a BMW 850 merged with a Ferrari. I had a lot of fun to reverse-engineer it too. The rear portion was more difficult to re-build, probably because you have not posted a detailed view. The tilted wedge plates behind the roof are brilliant :)
Hi White Shapes :). Thanks for the comment, I am delighted to hear that you have tried to recreate this. Will you be posting it? I would love to see an all white version. Joe

This certainly is an amazing 5867 alternate. It tick's all the right boxes and came as a surprise to me, Just when I thought there wasn't anything left in this amazing Creator set. I've reverse engineered your model (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/369624) and made an LDD version of that, If your interested in it (For personal use or sharing with your fans.) you can contact me trough the links on my main page here on Mocpages.

Thanks John, I think the photos turned out well. Alas my skills are not quite Crowkillers and Sheepo level but I will take the compliment ;). @ Tim, thank you my friend. Excellent work, Joe. I love these alternative builds that you keep coming out with. It's shocking that you were able to make such an accurate and convincing GTO with such restraints, (or even if you didn't have the restraints). Well done, as always, good sir.

This will be an inspiration for me, thanks for sharing it!

I was already curious what you would come up with, when you mentioned you were working on a 4th incarnation. It seems like it's either hit or miss with your 5867 alternates. Quoting DeTomaso Pantera This is your best alternative yet I think! It's awesome. I'll go as far to say this is the best looking alternative I've seen from the many I've seen from this set. I love the front, very clever parts usage for the headlights. I thought it looked like an 8 Series Beemer before I read what you thought ;-) Very nice work Joseph!
Thanks Tom. I think this is my favoutite of my alts too. The bemmer nose was a happy accident as the main reason for the hinge was to open the bonnet.
