Scavenger IV
Captain Willow's new ship
About this creation
So, some of you might remember the Scavenger 3, a smuggling ship that did a roaring trade prior to the Fall of Earth. During that fateful battle, the Scavenger 3 was badly damaged. It managed to limp back to Earth three years later, after the defeat of the Kranaxians. At this time, WA Inc Shipyards were building freighters from the base hulls of Autumn Class cruisers. Brian Willow's loadmaster, Brigant Scott, purchased one with a few modifications. The Scavenger IV, as it was named, is as fast as a UES Autumn Class cruiser, is heavily armoured, features impressive shielding, and has huge cargo capacity.

You getting bored of this angle yet?

"Okay Ben, back it nice and easy..."

"There we go"

"You know Brian, this reminds me of the time we hauled that ambulance and didn't realize it still had a patient in it"
"Ben, how does it remind you of that?"

"Well, it-"
"Hey guys! Let's load this in."
"Brig, what is that?"
"Umm, a Sniffer Frog"
"Aren't they highly illegal?"
"Yes, but isn't that our business?"

"True enough, let's go."

So, another "Not-a-Pillar-of-Autumn-at-all" style of build. I destroyed the Scavenger 3 a few weeks ago, intending to build a different ship altogether. The I just sat down and started building, and this was the result.

Quoting David Roberts I like this and it's a step up in size from your Autumn Class Cruiser. The cockpit is nicely built, especially the bunks and the floor to ceiling consol. I like the practical features such as the opening ramps and hatch into the cargo bay. As this is a bigger ship, perhaps the blocks of colour on the hull could do with breaking up with a few more of those 1 plate wide grey stripes or a few more greebles? I like building in this style as it's great fun thinking about all of the possible shapes.
Thanks for the comment, it's a real honour from such a prolific space-builder. I can see why you'd want more colour, and I may add some in future versions. I'm still getting the hang of these octagonal, studs-forward builds.

Quoting Alex Sonny I love the unconventional hull shape of your ships, but I'd like to see a bit more external detail.. perhaps some thrusters on the side or something, it seems kinda plain just being red. Still very good though
Thanks! External detail is tricky when it comes to building these kinds of hulls. As on this ship, I tend to use Grill bricks and those bricks with the indentations to try to lend a little detail to the outer hull. This and the Autumn Class are the first ships I've built this way (Actually, I don't think I've seen ships of this scale built in this way anywhere else), so they won't be as good as ships like this down the track.

Quoting Dragonax lord of all things black and creepy Nice ship! I really like how much detail you pack into these things :D
Thanks! I tend to think that detail, both interior and exterior, really makes a MOC.

Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus I think that colours go out of control a few times and that those greebles could be a bit flatter. But all in all this is a cool little starship with a lot of pleasant surprises.
Thank you. Flat greebles?
