Gat-Ling - Demon Police
My entry for the Judges' Challenge in the 2013 Bio-Cup!
About this creation
Judge not lest yee be judged.
ME: Who me!? What did I do this time...

ME: Say Hi Gat-Ling.
GAT-LING: YOU DO NOT HAVE PROPER AUTHORISATION. CEASE AND DESIST. YOU HAVE 30 SECONDS TO COMPLY.

ME: Right. As you can see, Gat-Ling here is a Class 9 Mechataur, designated for security detail to Hell's more regulated administrative zones.

ME: Enhanced gyroscopic actuators are installed to accommodate for the environment's Extremely High Exothermic properties. However, it has been tempered to operate under negative extremes, in case Hell freezes over.

ME: Yes, we know you can stand on one leg, Gat-Ling. Return to Neutral Posture.
GAT-LING: YOU WILL DIE A SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH, VIA POETRY.

ME: Given the laws banning the use of weapons in that area, Gat-Ling wields a pair of Shock Jitte. These items are (relatively) non-lethal and are used primarily to subdue assailants as quickly and efficiently as possible.

ME: Coupled with the jitte, Gat-Ling is well versed in the ancient art of Raijuttejutsu (Lightning Ten Hands), so he knows how to use them expertly.

GAT-LING: YOU ARE CHARGED WITH DISORDERLY MISCONDUCT. BZZZT!

GAT-LING: PREPARE TO BE TAZED, BRO.

Creator's Comments:

Heeey, I'm alive and building things ^_^
Now before you say it, the Gringat colour scheme happened completely by ACCIDENT.
The name didn't, obviously :P
So here's me with a few days to sort out a Judges' entry, so I was just playing around with torso variants again. Nothing too spectacular here, though I'm kinda pleased with the quick leg idea that had me bothered for a few days. It all makes sense now why everybody puts giant objects on the front of shins! There are some rather ugly gaps and annoying thin areas. I blame Icantfindallmyrightpartsitis. Still, certain aspects do give a certain level of unnaturalness to the humanoid frame, which is more or less what I was aiming for.

I really like my Jitte and the koshirae(sheath) pair. Might use them for something else.

As always, comments and constructive critique is welcome ^_^

Hey Chris. Need your round three EBC scores when you can get them done.

i like the head design and the massive legs. Its just that the body seem it cannot support its massive legs and arms. Still quite good!

This is a very nicely coloured MOC, I love your PU!
Quoting Chris Yee Awesome build Tim. Should have come down for the show!
I would have, but I am now living in AUS, and I had school responisibilities, unfortunately. I will try to get there next year, though :)

Quoting Johann Dakitsch Great one! Nice colors and a good, interesting design. I like the proportions, but some of the parts look kinda loose in there. Still, pretty cool one.
Not soon after I photographed this, I went and changed some of the knee sockets to the more current tighter ones, though in black, a few other minor modifications and at the Brick show 2013 in Christchurch, after a short discussion with another fellow exhibitor I removed the claw pieces at the elbows. It was probably that little bit too much red accent that threw the whole thing off. The show's photos will find their way here on MOCPages soon enough. I think I might make another version again with lighter colours that photograph better. I never seem to get dark colours looking right lol

Quoting L.A. Miranda Hmm... I was expecting something as impressive as Flo (yeah, I really love that MOC, is one of my favourites) , and while is rather impressive, it's not as I expected. It tooks a while to 'get accostumed' to its strange design, odd-proportionated, so people may not realize the real potential of the MOC. It has an awesome mech-look that I like, and there are pretty cool designs like the leg one. Weapons look very nice, and the use of some parts on various points like the Hordika Huna on the legs or the Savage Planet paws on the lower arms surprised me for their nice appeal. Though, as many people has stated, including me, it looks strange and needs time to be liked: not something bad, but a risky bet for a contest. Also, I think it would look better with a more mech-like head =P 8 points!
Very much in agreement with you. This was effectively a speedy build for me with some experimentation here and there, the legs, waist connections and a quick disproportionate head. I can't say that entering this held any risk for me (unless there was some judges elimination I didn't know about... lol), but yeah, I certainly wouldn't say this was something at the top of my best MOCs.

Quoting Glorified Pessimist Well, let me start off by saying that he is very piece consuming and detailed. But, (That thought destroying 'But!') he is oddly proportioned. Call me narrow minded, but the way the legs are bothers me. So, with that being said, I give you an 8/10. Good luck in your wandering!
Yup, dem legs. Now I know how you guys feel when you do it. The pain, the lamentation of finding the right sized cover at the cost of absurdity!

Quoting Smooth Jazz Sorry, but I'm not a big fan. The Moc, as a whole, looks quite jumbled. I also don't like the giant objects on the shins, as they stick out too far. The individual designs do look good, they just don't work well together. In conclusion, this just doesn't seem up to the caliber of you usual work. It gets a 6 from me.
The problem lies with the dark primary colours under sub par lighting. Hadn't mentioned that it was an experiment to build something using a larger number of HF components and techniques. As for the giant shinpads, well that was a blatant parody. I've used it before to a better effect back on Nuparu to alter the flow of the leg direction. This one, just big legs to simulate hind leg structure :P

Quoting Yuri Fassio I didn't like it at first glance, but every time I look at it, I find I like it more and more. It needs getting accustomed to.
It's the lighting. You start to see more of the details that usually get hidden with photographed black. Yeah, the lighting. Or the demonic influence.

Hoooo boy. This thing is sick. I'll give you the 9/10 now. It's also very awkwardly shaped. the shoulders and things are weird, and look almost out of place. They'd detract from you score, BUT I've been playing Dark Souls and have recently fallen in love with the malformed and misconstrued. The fact that it's a robot and doesn't have to look like a human is also doing you favors. Nice hooves, nice jitte, nice posing, mediocre pictures. Like I said before, this is a solid 9/10 for me. (and if I were other people, it'd be a 10, but This isn't the perfect moc.)
