4-Wide Superheavy 13-Axle Transport
An LDD model of a 4-wide superheavy 13-axle transport rig, hauling a wind turbine nacelle.
About this creation
This LDD model is a 4-wide superheavy 13-axle transsport rig hauling a wind turbine nacelle. Actually, since it is an oversize load, the flatbed and payload are 5-wide. The length of the model is approximately 67 studs, which at the scale of 2 feet (0.6 meters) per stud, works out to an actual length of about 135 feet.

These rigs are used in situations where the load is so heavy that it needs to be spread across multiple, separated axle groups, so that the transport doesn't damage the roads. For reference, this picture shows one of these rigs carrying a Cat D11 dozer.

I had earlier created a minifig-scale transport that would be the big brother to this one (you can see it here), but I wanted to see what I could accomplish at the 4-wide scale.

This model is now part of a Cuusoo idea. Consider supporting it if you like it.

While I hadn't originally planned on it, I changed my mind and decided to submit this model (the link to the Cuusoo page is up in the description). Consider supporting it if you like it.

Quoting clayton Marchetti Wow I had no idea they had them that big . That's incredible
Maybe, just maybe, I'll try to tackle the 32-axle transport when I have some spare time. The length of that rig is about 220 feet, which would put it at 110 studs in length at the 4-wide scale. It will definitely take me a while.

Quoting clayton Marchetti Awesome looking transport . I would not want to pay to change all those tires:-)
What isn't apparent from this 4-wide model is that every axle except the front axle on the tractor is a dual axle (i.e. 4 wheels). That means that there are 50 tires in all. If that isn't bad enough, some heavy haul companies also operate 19- and 32-axle transports for the really, really big loads.
