Bio-Cup 2013 Round 2. "Suit up!"
Make a mecha for your round one character
About this creation
In his years of traveling in the desert Arenam found a hidden abandoned lab of the Great Beings. After finding his way inside he found a number of battle-suits. Each for every tribe. Arenam guessed the Great Beings made them during the core war to give each tribe a advantage at the battle. Arenam feared that if the Skrall would find the suits they will use them to finally rule over Bara-Magna. Arenam used one of the suits to let the hidden lab collapse and removing all signs around it. After that he has hidden the last remaining suit in the Sea of Liquid Sand. Knowing that nobody would find it there. And, when needed, he could use it against the Skrall or other threats
The suits are equipped by weapons never seen before by any Glatorian. A kind of dual-laser weapon and two energy launchers. The suits can move at a high speed using the treads. While the suits may not be as agile as the warrior the controls it the armor can only be damaged by the weapons the other suits carry. Thornax launchers and force blasters don't even make a scratch on it.
As you can see in one of the pictures I removed the cloak and some armor pieces to make it possible for Arenam to get in the suit (minor modifications were allowed), he removes his armor to fit in the suit, makes sense right? Anyway I'm a bit disappointed at the arms. I couldn't find a decent way to make it look right... I'm glad I was able to give him 360° armor without anything needs to be taken aparts. It all wraps around the legs and arms (like in Iron Man 3).
That's a lot of bley! Great colour palette to maintain the desert apocalyptic theme. Solid mechanics and visible functionality of a step-in-and-operate suit. Slow, clunky but tough. Certainly the presence you were going for, would have been good to see some more pose variation, particularly from the legs. I give you a 7.
Nicely done. The way the character is suited is brilliant and the way arms are has quite a bit of Matrix feel. While it is well executed, it is a bit harmful that the bulky build of the lower parts doesn't follow up to the shoulders, back and arms that well. The arms feel skinny and lanky, and would've required a bit more mass for the wrist/hand section. 7 points.
As a thematic element I really enjoyed the grey 2xto-balljoint 'digits' repeated up and down the limbs as closing panels to grasp the MOC. Allows me to see the inner figure intact, still allows for the bigger limbs to function. Overall, the neutral colors are a bit washed-out and wasteland-ey, but that sells an ApocaMOC feel to him. I like it! 8 points, and Good luck!
YOU SHALL ---PASS!
My god this behemoth is excellent, honestly I got no flaws that I can think of.
Well that for sure is the most times I have ever seen Hordika necks being used on one creation. Also Dual Laser weapon....EPIC win!
... Beautiful... So many Biohands and Hordika necks... The weapons and color scheme fit the idea of Arenam, indeed. Love the legs armor the most. Magnificent, dear. You'll pass for sure! Good luck anyways!
