Bestial
For Round 1 of the 2013 Bio Cup.
About this creation
For the Bio Cup. I built most of the torso way back in February for BBCC 64 on BZP, but I never built limbs for it and it just hung around until now. Looks a lot like a revamp of Vakama Hordika, but that was not the intention.
Shins aren't so hot, but I couldn't come up with a better idea on short notice. Upper arms aren't ideal either; I had a design that looked a little better from the front but it wasn't wide enough from the side.
One thing I would like to say is that the torso is deceivingly simple looking from the outside, but the internals are pretty complex given the space in there. you actually can't see my favorite part of it in these pictures: the top of the torso where the neck connects. all the silver armor just comes together perfectly there and I love it.

Sorry the pictures aren't great, it wasn't a great day and I screwed up the depth of field. I'll probably upload some more and better pictures in the next few days.

Though I agree with Yuri, I find this more deserving of an 8. Well done!

Nice. Has a good balance between humanoid and bestial. I love the fluency on that chest, although the rest of the build don't really match up to that, being a bit overly mechanical on some parts. I'll give this an 8 anyway.

Very unique usage of pieces on that chest there. The moc looks good, but lacks a lot of that beasty look. A more hunched pose and additional spikes could've worked nicely to it. Still, he looks great. 8 points.

That is a an EXCELLENT bit of shapecrafting used to join those helms to the elongated skull used as chest armor - beautifully connected sweeping curves, and a nice impression of a fitted bit of pectoral armor. I love the heavier, simian suggestion of the forearms and lower legs. I don't mind the lack of midsection articulation in lieu of the great finish work. Unique work; 8 points!

Quoting Yuri Fassio Love the color combo, and those hands and feet are simply brilliant. It could really use a waist joint, so you could hunch him in more "feral" poses. Also, some armor is too sleek and doesn't add to the savage look I think you were aiming for, like the shin guards and the upper arms (strange you didn't think of adding a couple of silver or white teeth/barbs in there). Still, great character, 7 points.
I wasn't actually going for bestial look until I put the head on. It was the only head that fit, though, and it's not a civilized looking head so I then redid the hands and feet to get some claws in there. I have a thing for smoothness, though, so I really don't like how spikes on the shoulders look. I'm also not sure how much that helps, there aren't many animals I can think of with sharp protrusions anywhere but their mouth and feet/hands. Also, if you're going to say the upper arms and shins are too sleek, then I would go so far as too say most of the MOC is too sleek, especially the torso. I like it, personally. There might actually be space for waist articulation, though. It's generally not something I try to incorporate in anything bigger than a HF Hero set just because I'm worried about the general floppiness that ensues when you don't have space for reinforcement, but it was probably doable. Thanks guys.

Oh, nice organic feel, especially with the curves of the torso armoring.
