Thoromael, The Cobbled Guardian
About this creation
Welcome friends to the Somniferrian Archive Initiative. Today we bring you data on yet another Ancient. This story is much different than that of the other Ancients however as this one was truly a hero. Our story starts on Luria in a nation we have learned was called Markanos. When they saw the other nations begin their construction of angels they felt they needed a protector. Thus they built their own angel dubbed Gorromael the Shielded Savior. However due to several glitches it couldn't move and no mater what they did they couldn't activate his motor controls or his higher reasoning functions so they ceased construction and decided to try a different approach. The next attempt brought about a different problem. This ancient Tenomael got moving and thinking but it was so lightly armored in the first test it fell from the first shot from a simulated hit from an ancient sized weapon. Disheartened and on the verge of failure they realized that both of their guardians had different strengths and different problems. So they decided to go for broke and take the working parts from the previous two and combine them into one. But tragically just before he was completed Malgothiel came. The builders worked feverishly to finish but couldn't manage to get him moving. Malgothiel touched down. Then one of them noticed a hooded figure on the chest of the guardian drop what looked like a glowing amulet into its core and before his eyes fade into shadow. Miraculously the Ancient stirred. Moving gingerly so as to not hurt his builders Thoromael sat up.

He spoke and told them to start an evacuation and then their patchwork creation stood and grabbed its predecessor's shield(Gorromael) and sword(Tenomael) and rushed to fight the dark foe that was destroying his perceived home. The melee lasted longer than it would have if another ancient had stood in Thor's place. Obviously that amulet must have been made by God himself to give such power. But in a move of treachery not unexpected Malgothiel managed to throw Thoromael clear of the moon and preceded to drain the life from the moon. Enraged Thoromael decided she would not destroy all life in the system. He would wait on Somniferria Prime and fight her there. Entry into the atmosphere was difficult because he had minimal flight capability. Adding to his problem the other Ancients sensed him. He rose to meet them declaring "I am Thoromael, The Cobbled Guardian and I won't let you hurt one more soul" and charging to battle. Then darkness came again. Throwing the slightly larger Magmael into Dominael who had also even in his madness sensed Malgothiel. As had Magmael and Valkyriel. Turning to his nemesis Thoromael raised his blade and rushed into a melee with her. His blade and shield against her Varia-scyth. Then the other Ancients joined the fight and we know what happened then.

We don't know where Thoromael went after the Ancients left. He couldn't fly back to his home and so he must still be on Somiferria Prime. Hidden somewhere in the most desolate of places waiting to be needed again.

4th wall commentary
This may not be my biggest moc but he was one I had some trouble with. Going so far on stumping me I asked the ancient master himself. The Incredible Mr. Crowe gave me some good advice as did everyone else who helped me with comments (link to Clever Crowe : http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/72031 ) Now onto some shots of him.

Thor charging into battle shield forward. That'll hurt whatever gets in the way.

Reaching out to grab something

A height comparison with Outcast who seems just a small bit taller.

Uh Oh. Looks like he took Outcast's mask. Perfect time to show off his fingers. They changed a few times and ended up like this. I am quite pleased how they turned out.

Wearing Outcast's mask. Not a bad look I guess.
T: Not bad? I look pretty good.

O: Good for you. Now give it back.

Showing the arms and legs off.
Gorromael arm and shield which I think is the better arm.

Tenomael leg which I had to tinker with a little

Gorromael leg. Before you say anything it turns out I had less brown than I thought.
Thus came this.

Tenomael arm which does fight the light and fast part of Tenomael's design

Last shot. Thoromael gazes longingly at his old home fist clenched over his heart in salute.

Quick Pics of Outcast's changes. First he got new feet allowing better balance on my living room carpet where I shoot most of the pictures.

Added some greebles to his upper arm. (once again thanks to Crowe's advice I'm really grateful man thank-you) And that concludes this post. Thanks for looking and I'll see you next MOC :)

Quoting L.A. Miranda I have to agree with Chro this time, dear. While the build is pretty nice and the story is very worked, I don't think that both match... Complex and good-looking, Thoromael is still far of the massive, particular style of Crowe. Anyways, the MOC itself is pretty good, huh, don't think I'm saying I don't like it. The asymmetry has been well developed here, and the brown-black combination you decided to use is strange, yet beautiful. Nice designs, like on the brown arm, have been used too, so the only complain I could have of the creation is that green MetruMatoran torso on the back. I guess it was due to lack of parts, but well. To sum up, it's an awesome MOC, but as Chronos stated, I don't think it fits very well the Somniferrian story... Maybe as a minion, soldier or something, well. Anyways, good job, dear! =3
Well first don't worry I wouldn't be offended if you didn't like him and second I agree to an extent. The reason being is that this is only version one. He will grow and get better as I get more black and brown parts. The Metru Matoran chest on the back is there because I couldn't and still can't find the brown one I have but once I do it will replace the green. The story will change after the next revamp so I can iron out the whole thing. Lastly be on the look out because I have another Bio-MOC and my first system build coming soon :)

Quoting Clever Crowe Hey, your story, your call: I'm honored you branched off and made your own Take on the Lore, there. I for one think it's cool, sorta follows the Dominael mythology too. For the build; I like the commitment to alternate colors for your backstory, and setting them cross-body underlines that well. Asymmetry is GOOD, do this sorta thing (like your shoulder armor) more often; really finishes the concept well. It isn't my favorite Mask, but we all have faves of our own, and you should be into building what YOU like, so to each their own, sez me. Keep up the good work, Lindel - thanks for keeping me posted, too. Cheers!~
First thanks for taking the time to look Crowe, and also thanks for the asymmetric tip I may change the story later but right now I have something to post that may redeem me a little and she just needs photos now . Second Lindel? :)

Quoting Reaper the Ultimate . He looks very good, certainly cobbled together. I like the shield, it works well. In the shot with him reaching out, it almost looks as if the Bohrok limb is chromed. Very nice.
Thanks Reap. I did chrome them in a way. I used a marker to get them silver a then let it wear down in places like paint was being removed from him but never got finished. The shield kind of just happened but I like it. Thanks for checking him out :)

Quoting [ Chro ] The MOC is pretty neat, I like the cobbled together look, as you said. Not sure if the Somniferia backstory is at all fitting though...
Well since Crowe inspired the MOC I felt like I should keep to the Somniferria story but I do agree I could have done better on a story for him. Also Had to plug a book I'm writing. The Hooded figure was my stories main character. I also think if I had more Brown pieces I could have made this better. Thanks for looking Chro :)
