Raelos, Stonewall
My entry for the 2013 Bio-Cup, and my secondary Self-MOC.
About this creation
History:

Raelos was a Toa of Lightning created by Artakha. He was involved in many Toa teams, but, unlike most Toa of Lightning, he wasn't very social, and normally never stayed very long.

He was once visting a Ta-Matoran Village when he heard Teridax announcing his hijacking of the Mata Nui robot. Enraged by the takeover, he immediately began to help the Ta-Matoran deal with a troop of Rahkshi Teridax sent to this village to help "oversee" his reign. Raelos manged to defeat the Rahkshi by helping the Ta-Matoran build a catapult, which effectively destoryed the troop. After Teridax's death, Raelos was hailed as a hero by the village, but he only stayed a few more weeks and then began helping the rest of the surviving Toa evacuate the Matoran.

Raelos later joined the newly-reestablished on Spherus Magna Order of Mata Nui, and was granted a heavy armor suit and a Kanohi Hau, Mask of Shielding. Due to the nigh-impenetrable armour he wore, he was given the nickname "Stonewall" He made a few friends there, including Krode and Solorak, members that were later assigned to work on Racta Magna. He still works for the OoMN, and was recently stationed to monitor the neighboring planet of Mata-Robata.

Personality:

Raelos can be a loner at times, but can work with others when necessary. He only talks to his closest friends, and can be rather blunt in his speech. Raelos also acts with extreme precaution. At heart, he is kind-spirited, just, and courageous.

And now, my signature lighting shots:

4th wall:

I'm really proud of this MOC. The heavy bulk really looks good, and it contrasts with Ciaros, my primary for those who don't know me, really well. He's JUST under the height limit, if the judges need proof I'd be happy to provide it. The legs are my favorite part. I'm also pleased with his backstory, I don't like to have my Selfs too powerful, just a little above average.

Well, I'm quite finished, see ya next post!

Love the closure on the legs and the overall beefy look. Well done.

Those HF bits used to close the latissimus area along the sides of the back are a sweet choice, smexy lines there. The alternation of color and the hau make this a slightly bulk-bumblee-style build, and the tucked head mount add to the effect. Nicely muscular, and closed well in addition. 8 Points, and Cheers!

I completely agree with Chris, and I also think that a custom head would have certainly fit this MoC better, perhaps one made with that same mask but have it place differently so that the top of it is turned to the front! Still, the torso and legs are exceptionally made and overall I find this moc worhty of an 8! Well done!

Good! Nice colors and bulky look, a good use of Hero factory here. The arms really throw it off, though. They don't flow at all with the rest of the design. Also, shoulder connections could have been a bit lower. Still, a very good entry, so here goes a 7 to you.

Quoting Chris Yee Quite the bulky guy. While the fully customised torso and legs are quite exceptional, the arms and the weapon don't quite feel that they match the heavy form compared to the rest of the body. You get 7 points.
Thanks Chris! I have no other excuse on the arms except that I ran out of parts. Also, it's my personal preference to not have some giga-weapon on my self-MOCs.

Quoting Monarth GS A nice bulky, well-covered and color balanced figure. He does miss that "something" though, since there's not so much to praise about him. A unique feature or a special weapon, something. Despite the lack of posable waist and that "something", I'll grant this 7 points for the complex and well-filled design.
Thanks a bunch Monarth!

Hmm... Clean color scheme and magnificent use of HF plates for covering the MOC, indeed. Legs look awesome, maybe except for those HF wide shoulderplates in the upper back. While I can't find any other thing to 'complain' about, there's something on this MOC that bugs me... It can't be the torso, since it looks awesome and totally covered... Maybe the head? A bit down, I guess. It's not bad, it gives that hunched, bulky effect. But I feel like that with the head higher and a cape would look as pure awesomeness. Anyways, it's a great creation, I even feel proud when I see that torso. =3 Good luck, dear! Hope to see you in the next round!

Quoting Yuri Fassio Nice one. Not much to say about it, you bulked it up nicely and the effect is good. 6 points.
What is this Yuri? He built a custom torso, and it's not flexible (or at least does not appear to be in any photos, sorry Garrett), and you aren't grilling him about it! or have you just given up on telling people? (Note: All above was intended to be funny. No offence was meant)

Quoting Reaper the Ultimate . Yeah, i could see him looking a bit better with an ordinarily positioned head. Oh, as a draft of Ciaros, what do you think of Cramastos? (I have to petition for extra points from Yuri. He thinks there's no balljoint in the torso, but there is)
Looks good! Yeah, I saw that little problemo.

Quoting Reaper the Ultimate . I like this a lot Garrett. The bulkiness is what really captivates, however, the hunch detracts slightly (Height limit?). The overall look and feel is one of a well polished and good quality MOC, which is what I've come to expect from you. Well done.
Thanks Reap! Yup, that height limit threw a wrench in things.

Funny, I have a MOC named Stonewall. XD Really like how you made him a hunchback, makes him look like a brawler.

Heh, Krode and Solarak :P Thanks for that little reference! ;) I can see why Raelos and Krode would get along XD Nice story, it's good to see the text :P

Quoting Toa Infernum Wow! Great work! I love the legs, just beautiful. Very nicely filled in. I don't like the arms very much, they seem way too simple in comparison to the legs. I don't know if this is true for you, but I always found arms much harder to make than legs. I also think his head is a little too hunched forward. Change those two things and this will be a perfect entry. :)
Thanks Infernum! I would have made the arms custom, but I ran out of yellow and dark grey technic >.< The head was done that way intentionally, to give him a muscled appearance with that landing pad of a back.
