Fort Ticonderoga Brickworld 2013
Fort Ticonderoga in an 18th century French built "star" fort in-between Lakes Champlain and George in New York State.
About this creation

My son and I brought this to Brickworld Chicago and we were honored to be considered for best large building. It was a nice end to four and a half years of construction.

Some aspects of the fort are anachronistic like these Napoleonic cannons.

In the end, I wanted to make a four-sided, fully functioning fort proportioned to the minifigs, complete with little stone chambers, workable barracks, and, of course, lots of cannons, so that it can be absolutely playable for my kids. I think I accomplished that. They will play with it, now, until it's in ruins, and then we'll build something else!

I'm not sure I could have asked for any greater reward or validation for the four and a half years it took to build the fort than Mr. Westbrook's kind words. Thank you!

I am Director Emeritus of the Fort Ticonderoga Museum, and have seen LOTS of scale models of the Fort constructed over the past 60+ years. This is far-&-away the best: most detailed and most accurate (except in a very few details like the W1812 soldier (altho that war is also a chapter in the Fort's history) and the form of the bread (1756-1759) in the French boulangerie! Magnifique! Huzza!

That's amazing! Awesome construction. Does the real Fort Ticonderoga know about this? You should send them pics.
