Arios, Toa of Fire
My entry for the 2013 Bio Cup. It's also been a while since I built a Toa of Fire. His story contains spoilers of what will happen later in Paths of Shadows and in my next series.
About this creation
Name:Arios
Gender:Male
Mask:Kanohi Huna mask of Concealment (formerly), Kanohi Iden Mask of Spirit
Element:Fire
Weapon:Sword
Status:Alive
Moc status:Assembled

Arios was a Matoran living in Metru Nui prior to the Great Cataclysm. After the migration back to Metru Nui, he continued to make masks of power in the forges.

When Teridax took over, he attempted to capture Ahkmou, but was imprisoned in the Coliseum. When Teridax fell, he exited the robot and lived among Agori.

He was captured again by Makuta and imprisoned in their fortress, but was freed by Toa Kahu. When Kahu was killed in battle by Skulliator, He transformed Arios into a Toa. Kahu's last wish was for Arios to help defeat Darkfall. When he arrived in Darkfall's chambers, he saw Darkfall's mask on the floor in front of a winged figure in black armor. Facing the figure was a Toa of Sonics.

The Toa of Sonics was attacked by a Toa who had been in stasis that the winged being freed. As the two Toa fought, Arios pursued the being and grabbed on to his leg as he flew from the fortress.

The being managed to drop Arios into Spherus Magna's desert where Arios began to wander around trying to find his way back to the fortress. He later found "Rust" and fought him. "Rust" managed to take Arios' Huna and rapidly rusted it and crushed it under his foot. "Rust" left a Kanohi Iden on the ground for Arios to retrieve, if he could reach it in time, with that "Rust" left.

Arios managed to get the Iden and put it on feeling his strength returning. He later found a small village and became its protector. Years later, He battled Ryze and Lenzok. Realizing that they were traveling with Skulliator, he made an attempt to attack him, but was knocked out by Tiraxk, a member of the Order of Mata Nui. He later assisted them in locating a group that's main purpose was to eradicate the Incarnates.

That's the story so far...

Just a reminder that Round 1 for the BRC ends in 4 days! (Awesome MOC, too!)

I agree with the other judges, the problem with this moc is that it's a bit bland in its design, and overly simple. Definitly can't be rated bad though! I'll give you a 5!

The build in the torso is ok, but the design itself is pretty bland, I would've liked a little more originality here, even if you kept the relatively simple build. All-in-all, not bad, but noting special either. A solid 5.

Quoting Chris Yee Nice, even colour scheme. Torso is decent, though the parts where the arms join could have been filled in a bit more. That said, the trade off would be good upper body poseability. The second photo from the bottom illustrates the good posing aspect. I personally don't like to use feet as shin armour, but that is mostly for aesthetic reasons. The back surfaces, in particular the lower legs, could have benefited from a little more cladding. I'll give you a 5 because some of those action shots looked pretty good, though I would have liked to see more full body action shots as well. One question though, what's with the backpack?
It's not a back pack, I just added armor because it looked strange without it there. I guess it can be considered a backpack...

Excellent build! The back needs some filling in. Besides that, it's a great build! Good luck!

Quoting Clever Crowe Like the colors and lower-leg curves (a good Mask for your Theme, too). I don't think the torso is overtall, but lacks the curving where a human figure would have Lattisimus muscles here's a Wiki-Link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latissimus_dorsi_muscle Any sloping greeble would close this area up nicely, tapering to the waist, without calling to much attention to the torso length. Not bad, 5 points from me. Good luck, and Cheers~
Thank you, seeing the link, I think I know the piece to use to make it seem like he has the latissimus-muscle-thing.
Quoting Monarth GS Not bad, but not so good either. The custom torso is nice, so is the color scheme, but the armor begs for a bit more originality as it uses so few pieces (plus reminds a bit too much of a set we know). There are so many spots you could improve on the armor (which your "Rust" proves you can do). The Kalmah feet don't really work on the legs and the technique for them is a teeny tiny bit overused. This really could've used more work. 4 points.
The mask was the only one that seemed to work for him, and I couldn't find my Hau from Tahu stars which would have been my first choice. The Huna seemed okay, but for me it didn't seem to look good on him. I'm also not sure if I can adjust him due to the Bio-cup rules, but if I can, I will use your advice to improve him.

Quoting Yuri Fassio It needed more work. The rigid torso and drooping shoulders make him look lanky and rickety. That shoulder technique is interesting, but you really needed more plating to pull it off. Your Kahli and Rust MOCs are way better both in technique and character design, so knowing how good you can be I can't give more than a 4 to this entry. I have noticed something common in many of your MOCs and perhaps I can give you a useful piece of advice: adding more and more technic parts to elongate a torso doesn't make the MOC better, it makes it look more and more rigid and ridiculous the taller it gets. Try to work on poseability and proportions, you'll be surprised how much better they'll look. Good luck with the other judges :)
Thanks, I'll try to use your advice on some of my other mocs.
