Aza was born to Toa Kana and Toa Orabmar on Spherus Magna. Her household was a curious one, however. Her mother and father were both Knights of Spherus Magna, and could spend weeks or even months away from home while on missions. Kana was always distant, and spoke in riddles even to her own daughter. Orabmar, on the other hand, had always been a sports fanatic, and would constantly foster Aza to imrove her skills. His death to the Soulplague devastated her.

There comes a certain prestige from being descended from not one but two toa, but with it comes the burning desire to live up to their reputations. Aza's competitiveness, combined with a faster-than-normal healing factor thanks to her Carbon elemental nature, makes her a brilliant Kolhii player. Within a few short years of her taking up the sport, she was playing as defender for her city's team.

Aza is unique among matoran, bearing carbon as her element. She heals much faster than other matoran, meaning injuries on the field will not keep her out of action for long. This has made her somewhat reckless in regard to her own personal safety, however.

Aza's kolhii stick is made of strong yet springy wood, built mainly for scooping the ball up and throwing it instead of hitting it with the hammer; that's a technique used more often in offense. Her shield is also wooden, but covered in gold laquer with a green sporrel to show her team's colours. The ball is heavy and hard, so the barding over the shield soaks up a lot of the force from an incoming hit without denting it.

When the War of the Weave began, Aza took up arms and joined Lady Tangri's army. Her healing rate and skill with a shield made her almost untouchable in battle, but to no avail; the KoSM lost the war.
After the war ended Aza returned to her team in Bazryghan.

--Fourth Wall Commentationary--

Aza fits the contest's height restrictions quite neatly, and I'm very happy with how she came out.
Her shoulders are made of these, which give her a spring-loaded action when the orange technic parts on her shoulders are pressed down or up. Loading the custom kolhii ball into her stick and using the mechanism can let her throw it pretty far.

Aza's colour scheme is one of the most coherent I've had on a MOC. Black for armour, grey for unarmoured areas (some of which mimic the old gear mechanisms of the first bionicle sets) and orange for parts directly relevant to her mechanism.

She was made to fit her theme song as well. The lyrics fit her backstory head on, both concerning her kolhii career, and later when she fights in the War of the Weave.

The neck design is an adapted form of a design by LEGOJANG.

PS: I did make some custom legs for Aza. They're the same height and bend in a more human way, but I still prefer the Mata-toran legs, hence why I entered Aza with those instead of these.

And good luck to everyone else in the contest! :)

Very nice! I love the mechanism, and I especially love the fact your matoran always stay somewhat true to the original mata nui body designs. Looks like that mechanism is pretty good, and the kohlii equipment look pretty epic! Hope you do well in the contest. (You probably will :)

That is a GREAT matoran. I have built a couple of custom matoran myself, but I never thought to use one of those three +prong parts in the chest. Very inventive. Also, where did you get the spring-shoulders from?

Nice one dude! I like the wrapping paper triangles on her shoulders :P Hovever, I think the custom legs look better than the standard ones. Not because it's custom, but because they don't lean back like the other ones do.

Nice! I love how much she looks like an original Matoran, and the use of those spring pieces is brilliant! Good luck :D

Very nice creation, although I must ask, how did you get the music HTML on this page? it never lets me for group pages anymore.

Nice, very good for such a small scale. A GIF or video showing the mechanism would have been nice.

The Mexican ponchos are so awesome!

The MOC is really good, like that you gave her the good old matoran leg and foot, the body is really good and the mask fit well but the arm is really odd to me. Love the Kolhii stick and Kolhii Shield.

Pretty good, I love the idea of the spring action arms. I actually own one of those pieces but never found a use for it. Cool :)

Excellent! Cuteness right here, and indeed very coherent color scheme! Due to camera issues, I won't be able to enter this contest, nor the Bio-Cup DDD-:<<
