The Retribution
The Retribution is the S.I.D.’s (a black-ops division of G.A.I.A.) newest interstellar warship. Dr. Whackemoff’s experiences from designing the Wraith directly influenced the creation of this new battle cruiser. Its conception was born from the seemingly impossible contradiction of taking the firepower of a dreadnought and cramming it into the smallest frame possible. Only the maniacal genius of Dr. Whackemoff could overcome such a challenge.
About this creation
Mass: 973,000 metric tons
Length: 1,028 meters
Crew: 275
Marines: 45
Corvette Pilots: 6
Passengers: 40
Escape Pods: 120
Cargo: 22,000 metric tons

This shot reveals the command bridge. It’s packed with sophisticated communication and radar arrays allowing it to command allied forces up to 1,000 ships simultaneously.

The Retribution carries two Gentrex-47 mass drivers. As in S.I.D.’s the Wraith, both of these monstrous ship killers run the length of the ship’s lower hull and are powered directly from the fusion reactor. With an impressive range of 15,000 kilometers, the 750 kilogram cobalt slug travels at nearly one-third the speed of light. Upon impact the kinetic energy released literally tears apart the molecular bonds of any shield or bulkhead struck. Once fired, it takes sixty seconds to recharge. The standard attack pattern is to fire one cannon while the other is recharging. The only time when both cannons are fired simultaneously is when the target is defenseless. Fortunately the rest of the weapons and vital systems are still on-line during this time. Even the FTL drive can be engaged in an emergency rerouting of power when a fast getaway is paramount!

Besides its primary twin engine FTL drive system, the Retribution has four impulse engines along with additional thrusters allowing it to perform maneuvers one would expect out of a destroyer class vessel.

Besides its primary twin engine FTL drive system, the Retribution has four impulse engines along with additional thrusters allowing it to perform maneuvers one would expect out of a destroyer class vessel.

The Retribution is also equipped with fifteen naval classed laser cannons. They are mounted in triple barreled turrets running along the belly of the ship. With a maximum range reaching 5,000 kilometers, these large lasers can melt even the densest armor.

To minimize space, the controversial decision was made not to include a fighter bay. Instead two separate landing hard-points were installed. One is on the belly conning tower and the other is in front of the two fore mounted rail guns. Both landing platforms currently have a corvette class attack ship attached to them.

The Retribution is also armed with four naval classed electromagnetic rail guns. Each gun is mounted to an independently powered and heavily armored turret with two forward and two aft. Possessing a maximum range of 10,000 kilometers and one sixth the firepower of a Star Slayer, a direct hit from one of these weapons would instantly disintegrate any smaller vessel up to the size of a small frigate or blow a sizable hole through the sides of an opposing capital ship.

Located directly behind the main bridge is the environmental control tower and oxygen generator system. In actuality it is a fully functioning hydroponic green house that also provides fresh produce to feed the crew while off world. Water for the green house is taken from the crews waste disposal system and run through multiple purifiers located in the primary heat exhaust towers. The heat burns away the impurities as the water vaporizes and then is recollected as it condenses on the walls of the towers.

For point defense, there are forty-seven large caliber laser cannons identical to those wielded by many star fighters. Each laser is mounted in its own turret and can be operated via an automated targeting system or manually controlled by a gunner.

I hope everyone enjoys the multiple gratuitous profile shots. Thanks for viewing and candid comments are always appreciated.

I love that this looks like a "space battleship" ought to look. Nice job!

Quoting Michal Hennel I want to express that i am am really impressed by your works. I picked this one as the most appealing creations to me. I really like you detail style based almost purely on shell and arch bricks. Also distribution and general proportions of cannons seem very refined to me. When seeing your or Parringtons work i can not decide if this is marine or space ship, which is also very good. I always like when somebody is courageous enough to remain original a keeps refining his style. If I may ask you, can you tell me how I can learn more about GAIA? Is it kind of sci-fi series or Parringtons original idea? I would like to dedicate some of my storyline and creations to it and i want to do it in proper way :D
Thanks for the comments and I appreciate the feedback. GAIA is a sci-fi based storyline of Parrington's creation. Both of us are influenced by multiple sources includinig several classic anime story lines. Among them are "Star Blazers a.k.a. Battleship Yamato," "Captain Harlock" and others of that ilk. Vessels in those stories often resembled flying battleships from Earth and you can find many ideas there but more importantly if you have a design put it up and other in the group will let you know what they think. Take a look at the GAIA main page. Parrington, myself and others have put stories and additional info on GAIA's backstory. Also please continue to ask questions but try not to too annoyed if we don't answer right away. Some of the group have been in and out lately (myself included) due to that thing we call life which keeps getting in the way!

Thank you gentlemen for the encouragement. Hopefully my next design will be better built and even slightly more popular. Yeah, like that's ever going to happen! Well, maybe.

Hey, you're back! And with a bang, to be sure. Brilliant MOC, it reminds me of a Nebulon B Frigate married to a Japanese cruiser. Love the use of curved elements and the detachable ships.

Quoting Hans Dendauw NPD You really nailed the Star Blazers feel with this (loved that cartoon). Me? I'm Hans, I used to lurk around here all the time, not so much of late. However, I noticed Deus flappin' his gums about the gang again and might just have to be around more, he misses us so! Anyway, good to see you've been busy!~H
I had to try and build something. I had been gone so long myself, I wasn't even sure if I could build anymore! Hope you and the rest of the gang come around more often. The place hasn't been the same since you all left. Besides I still owe you an H.K. MOC of some kind. I don't know what, but something?

Quoting Parrington Levens Oooh yeh man! Hehe, way to go big dude, good to see you join the ranks with a beauty. The hull is a nice solution, and love the keel/fighter. Super big guns front and back also, gives it a unique but still very GAIA look. Tons of fire power! Mike, congrats on a beast, long live GAIA!!!
Thank you my friend. Now I just have to learn to take better wide angle photos, get a studio to work out of, acquire a quality computer (my current one is sorely lacking in every way possible) and photo-editing program for all those lovely effects everybody else but me seems to know how to do and oh yes get a bigger place to properly store all my bricks (insert palm slap to forehead now)! Cheers buddy.

Quoting Freeling ++ WHAT!? This is your entry?
But of course, why do you think I built her? I made a commitment to our challenge and I always follow through at some point. This one just took me a lot longer to complete. Like I said earlier though, take as long as you like for your ship if you're still interested. Either way I still had to try and see if I still could build something worthy in the first place!

Thank you everyone for your praise and advice on my latest ship. More guns would be great but I think I need to invent a larger hull first! Oh and for everyone who noticed, I was totally going for a total “Star Blazers” spin with this little ditty. Last but not least for all my group mates; Long Live GAIA!

Good to see some new GAIA stuff from you, my friend! Like Shifu said, don´t you think this beast is underpowered? ;-) Hahaha... Don´t worry, it´s all awesome! What a sweet GAIA ship, with this wonderful blend of a todays naval vessel and a spaceship. The small corvettes are a cool idea! But, I thinkt that Batman might be angry that you painted the Batwing red! :-P Oh, nice write-up and tech specs, as usual! ~Long live GAIA!
