Not all the creatures that humanity faces in their fight against the ever growing hive are large, carnivorous monsters. The Leafback is small compared to most other insectoid forms on the planet and is a vegetarian. It is named for it's extremely hard shell on it's back which takes the appearance of large piles of leaves. This gives it an edge against predators in the style of hiding in plain sight as an evasion technique.
Humans have tried to capture these usually docile creatures in the hopes that as they are still insectoid, if not attached to the hive, they might open up doors so to speak in the fight against the larger insectoid menace. They did, however, mistake it's docile nature for it being an unwary and somewhat 'friendly' creature. You can waltz right up to one and pat them on the head if you wanted and it would just continue grazing, but that's because humans are smaller than they are. When approached by a larger creature they flee, and they really take off. They may appear cumbersome, but the multitude of legs under their body allow them to zoom across the lands if necessary. An equal sized target will cause Leafbacks to stand their ground. All humans had to use before machines were put into this matter were over-charged cattle-prods. Direct fire and blunt trauma can be shrugged off by the Leafback but electric charges get to it's nervous system. This only made them angry and hazardous to the much smaller human attackers.
The DZR (shortened for Dozer) is a mid-sized vehicle that is normally used in construction and transport. It's strong frame and surprisingly heavy weight for its size make it an ideal match for Leafbacks. On occasions, the DZR would win one over on the Leafbacks and manage to upturn them or tire them out, ready for larger transport to take them back to base. Other times, the Leafbacks employ a strategy by ramming the DZR's and lifting them up. Then they use their speed to take them on a short trip before stopping, causing the DZR to be propelled off and dumped forwardly.
A fun little moc that just came about after making a little green bug that was quite stocky and rounded. I then just wanted to make a human vehicle that wouldn't be some overdone mech but would match it fairly and this tracked bulldozer type of vehicle came from it.
Another little addition to the Hive mocs I've made but also not directly showing the main conflict, more of a side matter to outstretch the story a bit.
