Ignis are still used nowdays due to their excellent maneuverability , typically their accompany "Therion" Cruisers to destroy enemy anti-aircraft defenses. Its main focus is to deal splash damage to large amounts of enemy soldiers. Usage of centrally symmetrical trunk shape enable to have equal resistance against firepower in all directions. Vertical wings were also heavily used in II.generation to boost their ability to absorb enemy shots.

Tech note - centrally - symmetrical trunk - triangles on corners of base - plate compress lateral wings. Note that in vertically placed plates can be compressed, if they are as wide as one 1x1x1 brick. it takes vertical one vertical part of laterals-stud brick ,one normal plate and one plate without studs.
Tech note - plate brick design - central brick has holes for Technic pegs on center of each edge. You can attach frame Technic bricks to make cross design.
