I love the style of what appear to be simple LEGO shapes, although if I look more closely I see a good amount of the more complicated SNOT work to get the right shapes and angles. With Luke and Maul, characters in positions that would not be easily identifiable, you've also added some bright colors in seemingly similarly simple shapes (alliteration completely unintentional), for an excellent contrast. Very nice work. Blogged: http://eurobricksstarwarsforum.com/2013/06/17/brick-built-silhouettes-by-david-alexander-smith/

Quoting Tim C Great work, David. I'm waiting to see this style catch on. You are creating a new genre altogether here. Making your mark, and all that. The shaping is perfect. I didn't need you to tell me what it was to recognize it. Those puffballs on the side of her head are a dead giveaway. Great work on the gun as well. That ribbed look really captures the actual look of Leia's gun.
Striving ahead. Once finances allow it I want to take this genre to another level,

Quoting Chris Phipson I'm starting to become a fan of these silhouette builds. Nice work! ~ Chris.
Thanks Chris, given how many creations you must see every day, I always take a comment from you as worthy praise. I'll try to convince you more in the future.

Quoting Topsy Creatori (StoveTopCreator!) Body language in silhouette! This is perfect! :)
Carrie Fisher was the master of sexy-surly just through body language - she could have been great.

Quoting matt rowntree I absolutely love the angle in the shoulders. Now THAT'S attitude! You have managed to capture her true character in simple silhouette. (Please don't take the word "simple" as meaning easy. Even in a gold bikini, Leia is NOT easy! Mmmmm, gold bikini. =D) You have really outdone yourself here, David. Easily recognizable, subtle and sparing, perfect.
Thanks Matt, I'm so enjoying this drawing with LEGO at the moment.

Quoting Senator Chinchilla . Snazzy. All it needs now is a Han Solo for her to yell at. =P

Quoting Locutus 666 Awesome! But, Mr Smith, when i saw the thumpnail, the thing, Leia holds, reminds me to something completly other as the classic SW-Lasergun.... oO :D

Quoting David Roberts Looking again at this MOC, I'd be fascinated to know: do you plan these silhouettes on paper first or do you build them from scratch?
Yes except for two cheeses and the slope you noted, this is all made with bricks available from the seventies (oh maybe the lever base might not make it seventies).

Carrie Fisher in the dark shadows with gun: isn't that the Blues Brothers? Sorry, this shilouette is instantly recognisable and superbly posed. I love how you've built this with nearly all "old" style bricks, that have been around for years. I think that I counted just two cheeses and one curved slope. I also like how you make these shapes with great economy of bricks. Excellent.

Flouncing hand on the hip, blaster in the other, that's the essence of Leia really in the first film.
