USS Sulaco - WIP-02
No no no - it's still in work guys ;-) I had to be clear first how i want to built different sections of this crazy beauty...
About this creation
Here are the next results ;-)
I hope you enjoy it !

Criticism is welcome !

One of many referenze pictures

The upper frontsection is closed. I'm not sure if the little gaps on the curve are cool or bad, but it was the best way i think to come from the curve to the angle down...

how the technic looks inside - stupid anglesh... in LDD. Some degrees here some there. It always looks that it fits first and then - ahhhhhhh!!!!!!! go back and start again :(

the part getting narrower i think starts good, but i don't know at the moment how to close the middle section there

front view

On the back the thruster was growing.

and the asas module is starting

inspiration is also welcome !

I really like the industrial aesthetic of the whole thing. I know how tricky it can be to get Technic pieces lining up correctly in LEGO CAD programs, so I applaud your effort. :)

Quoting Nick Barrett Interesting to see how you achieve these complex shapes; it looks very solidly built.
Thank you Nick for your interest! Some of the shapes really make me scratching and screaming... ;-) And yesterday my computer crashed, because i did connections LDD didn't want to calculate - so i had to change them again...

Quoting Nils O. Yeah, that's a great progress, for now! Maybe you can get an idea to close the "narrowing" gap here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/72413 Well done so far, can't wait to see the next WIP post :-))
Thank you for the tip/link - that was also an idea in my head...mmh, we will see what my LDD talkes to that ;-)

Quoting Starscream Soundwave You really have a lot of patience to build these things. So complicated and big! I remember when your Nostromo was at this stage ;) Looks great so far!
Thank you - maybe i have this patience because when i was younger my little brother destroyed always my MOCS.... :-( !! Now i can leave the halfbuild sections on my desk without fear to cry when i come home again... The only fear on that scale is, that i have to clean it from dust till building again ;-)

Quoting matt rowntree First of all, let me say this thing is looking great. Secondly, definitely keep the gaps on the top of the front section. It adds a built up beefy quality as if reinforced beyond specs, like a proper warship. Thirdly, kudos on that inner structure. Impressive. As for completing the mid-section, I'll have to look at some drawings since my only reference is the two second screen shot in the movie. I'll see what I can come up with. Great WIP!
Thanks for sharing your minds ;-)

Quoting Achintya Prasad The amount of technic in this thing is amazing! As for inspiration, well. Hmm. I would suggest some sort of hanger bay. Doesn't have to be like an aircraft carrier (or since this is in space, a space carrier); maybe something less, substantial, like the USS Enterprise hanger bays. Either way, I will be interested in the final result! 5/5
Thank you! The only hangar bay i planed for the while is on the underside where the Cheyenne Dropship comes out...
