The Scorpion! 25+lbs of acrylic intensity! I built this as a challenge to myself to build something on a larger scale-this creature was a blast to build. Functions are moveable legs, pincers, and tail/stinger.
About this creation
The beginning: frame work for the Head.
Frame work for the body.
The Head. I wanted the Scorpion to have a menacing look that didn't come across as cartoony or to technical.
The Pincer. Red was the color chosen for the most formidable of the Creature's weapons: Pincers and Stinger.
Pincer detail. The internal components had to be detailed even though most people would never see it.
The Body minus the Head. The detail work came out great. The addition of guns was a late decision, it really helped keep the mechanical theme.
The Tail presented a challenge as it had to be strong enough to balance itself and keep its position.
The Beast on display at the County Fair for 5 weeks. Final dimensions: 5 1/2ft long, 4ft wide, and 25+lbs.
On display at a local library for 3 weeks to help kick off their LEGO builders program. Inspiring others is what it is all about!!
View of the rear.
Nice outside side-view shot.
The end. 6000+ pieces, 5 months to complete it. Hate taking it apart, but a bigger and better model was soon to come...
