An LDD model of a 19-axle superheavy transport rig hauling a wind turbine nacelle, complete with escort vehicles.
About this creation
This is an LDD model of a superheavy 19-axle transport rig. It is based on a rig that is operated by the Hallamore Corporation of Holbrook, Massachusetts. The tractor is a 50-year-old Mack M-series truck and the trailer is a 175-ton, 15-axle Trail King heavy haul trailer. The payload is a wind turbine nacelle, which is a very common payload for heavy haul rigs like this one.
If you like this model, you might consider supporting it on Cuusoo.
Here is another picture of the complete set-up, including the escort vehicles:
The next set of pictures are close-ups of various parts of the tractor/trailer combination. All of the gooseneck couplings on the trailer have two degrees of freedom -- they can turn as well as tilt forward/backward. That enables the trailer to negotiate somewhat uneven roadways. Every axle trailer axle group except the first one is equipped with hydraulic steering (the rams on either side of each axle group). These steering mechanisms allow the two trailer operator (one forward and one in back) to steer the trailer around obstacles.
Finally, we have some close-ups of the tractor itself. The Mack M-series trucks were huge -- 10 to 16 feet in width. They were big, powerful, and ugly, which is exactly what you want a heavy-haul tractor to be.

You have some great creations, I don't know why anyone won't comment on them... This looks very accurate and cool looking, great job!!!
Thanks. I built this model because I wasn't satisfied with any of the existing "heavy hauler" LEGO sets -- they didn't have enough accuracy or size. I have a similar, somewhat smaller, project on the "drawing board" that I have been meaning to get back to.
